This thread has become pretty confusing, but I can't wait to see what mine will turn out like when you get done with uh...whatever you're supposed to be getting done with :P BTW to avoid possible pre-emptive confusion my character is a mesmer xD
Keep up the wonderful skills you got there, especially with the details and the lighting

I guess I haven't updated the front page for a while... Bleh, I'll update after I finish my current one, which is mallybum's warrior who looks like a ranger D:

Well I think all you'd have to do (and this might be easier on yourself too) is make a list of the commissions you're doing in order on your main post. Having the finished ones there is nice too, I like looking at them and wishing they were mine =P

thanks shadow. Will definitely be sitting in my storage for around a month :P
In other news, I'm thinking about time lapse recording my process for Mallybum's commission, since I got a few PMs asking about how I work. Would this be something you guys are interested in?

Yours will be the first one done after the two "extra" commissions.

ok thanks for clarifying - i just wasn't sure.
also, i think you should do a time lapse. it's really interesting watching them.

Oh wow, that would be awesome! I've always liked to watch all the time-lapse & speed painting things on youtube (among other sites), i think it would be awesome.

Pretty horrible. I mean, I could do it, if I found reference. But yeah... I almost never draw animals other than really weird twisted crap XD

Didn't mean to sound like I wanted one in the commission, was just curious after seeing the drawing of the horse. =P

Ofc your first sketch is not final but perhaps some things for next version: Her nearer [leftside] arm is too small -- upper arm length is too short. If you meant for the upper arm to be foreshortened, the bands on the upper arm are really messing that up because they suggest a more sideways orientation; then again the entire posing of leftside arm is a bit mrh? I can safely assume that you just didn't have anything in mind for what to do with the arm while you were [improvising]?
I'll probably be given an F for forcefulness but generally speaking warrior princesses won't crooked-arm when they point. In other words, when she points she needs to thrust her arm out as forcefully as John Travolta would. That would also give her some motion so that her other arm can have a purpose [balancing] instead of flailing about uselessly near her head with an evil convulsive grabbing gesture.
Her neck is also a bit short, esp. considering the Vabbian armor isn't one with a relatively high collar [ex. Kurzick, &c.].
I don't think you have too much of a problem with it but just watch out for paperdolling [like flattening a pose with depth into a one-plane affair like the first sketch]. I guess I personally try not to do too many pics from straight-on side since it's a lot easier to accidentally paperdoll -- stuff like your mes perspective are good in avoiding annoying flatness.
Forgive me if my phrases were a bit too colorful xD

Yeah haha,
there are tons of stuff wrong with these sketches. I just let them go since I'm doodling and it's kinda hard to correct things with a red pen :P
I wouldn't dream of using any of those in a real piece, just some doodles to get me familiarized with the character and the armor design.
You're right tho, I had no idea what to do with the other arm really :\ I just drew the head, and wanted to add something below the neck. I always have trouble with proportions when I draw like that, hence the large-headedness etc
Anyways I haven't yet decided a pose for the actual piece yet. Hopefully it'll be something more exciting.

xD. I'm glad you liked it.
Now that I look at it again tho, I think i could increase the size of her head a bit more... hmm...
Oh btw I recorded this with camtasia studio... I could upload it if you guys want? Just a sped up in progress. Thing is, I don't have a youtube account and I'm kinda too lazy to get one. So if I do upload, it's going to be on mediafire (only 10 megs)

I don't bother with custom brushes unless requested to, but what is that set you're using? I've seen it on most other speedpainters [Lingy0/AndreeWallins/Slipstream] but I've never looked it up.

m@'s set. It's pretty much the best one I've used for speedpainting. Some of mine are also custom textures, but none of them were used in this one
altho in this one, I just used cust brushes once for texture. Everything else is just hard round or hard flat
