Background:
I'm a hobbyist digital painter, and I want to help my character along in Guild Wars by taking some commissions. I've had lots of experience with digital painting before, but have not done any serious commission work yet--hopefully, this will be a fun way to get started.

The Basic Idea:
I draw whatever you want, for $$$

I have some preferences on what I draw, but there is nothing--short of hardcore pornography--that I can't be bribed into drawing :P

Pricing:
Where I differ from most artists here is in my CG process. I don't really do lineart, then color them. I enjoy doing mass sensitive paintings, which basically means I simply start by putting down shapes and value, and worry about hard edges and lines later.

The implications of this is that I wont be offering simple "character lineart" (unless I'm bribed into doing it, but then it wont be much cheaper than a full on painting).

Hence, the three basic formats I'll be offering will be
Update: Uhm, since everyone seems to be requesting CG paintings, I've decided to update the price on some of the other options, perhaps to make them a bit more attractive :P. I've also removed BW sketch because it doesn't take me much longer to add a quick colorwash. If you want monochrome, just include it in your request.

Sketch = 1x Base Cost (this will be a quick color wash, nothing big)
Speed Paint = 2x Base Cost (includes background)
CG Painting = 4x Base Cost (includes background, basically, it'll look more finished and detailed than a speed paint)

Note: CG Painting's new pricing is not a price raise, since the baseline costs were lowered to compensate.

Also, I will not be pricing on fullbody/portrait/upperbody, but on how big you want it to be. (I will be definitely charging more for a desktop sized painting than a display picture) This is because even if it's just a portrait, painting a big portrait involves a lot of details and textures, and sometimes can be harder or more time consuming than a full body.
Right now, the base costs for each will be

Display Picture [10k] <- only because I hate doing them :P
Website quality (around 600x400is) [15k]
Desktop Sized (1680x1050) [30k]

Updated: due to the sheer number of requests and how slow I work, I've taken out print quality and poster quality. I simply wont have the time to do them.

I charge a high price for commissions because they take me quite a long time. If I do find myself speeding through them though, I might lower the prices.
Edit: CG wallpapers right now take 1+ week. <_> so much for speeding through them.

While I don't really charge much extra for specifically more characters, I will charge extra for complexity. Basically, if its more than two characters, PM me or post here, and we'll discuss pricing.

I'll be painting in my normal style, unless convinced or bribed to do otherwise.

Prices are, as always, negotiable as well.

Hi! I would love to get a Desktop size full body CG painting of my mesmer Elite Yakuza Misa!

I would like the background to be kinda like a city theme/Kaineng area. I really like the background of the mecha-girl that you already have posted. If you need me to get screen shots of the background just let me know and I'll find some!

As for the pose or whatever.. I don't mind as long as it's sexy! :P
Oh! and Misa recently got chaos gloves so if you wouldn't mind, I would like to have them instead of the glacier gauntlets instead! If you need any more screen shots just ask me for them!

Wow your stuff looks great! Ok so I would like a wallpaper sized commission of my character Mallybum the Ninja with a background of your choosing. The size would have to be 1280 x 1024 since I don't have widescreen and my monitor can't handle any larger resolution... So I think from your pricing it would turn out to be 120k for a CG wallpaper? Anyways pasted below is my character info

Her's a bit of her back story....

Her name is Mallybum The Ninja but the only thing wrong with that description is that she's not even from an assassin profession. Not only that, she doesn't even have the assassin secondary and her sense of "stealthiness" consists of running up from behind enemies and screaming "oogity boogity boo!" She doesn't take things seriously and tends to slack off a bit in battle. Occasionally she'll slash her sword if things get a bit too hairy but her teammates tend to call her "kill stealer!" or "loot ganker!" But in all fairness she still has to live up to her surname. You'll often see her in Kamadan running around mocking everyone's ridiculous armor set or glowing hands by shaking her fist repeatedly in the general direction of the fashionably inadequate.

I'd like it desktop size, if you manage to get to it

Basically, long story short Sue Aside is inspired by the bride from Kill Bill. At the alter her "groom" exposed himself to being Am Fah in order to attack her family (Canthan traders). Her main goal now is basically revenge, so although she may look like a sweet mesmer her thoughts are usually on violence. If you want to include a weapon she uses a katana.

Edit: Here's a bio, since you seem to be really great in incorporating them =)

Sue Aside is a very mischievous and adventurous mesmer, sometimes too much for her own good. She worked as a bodyguard of sorts for the Kaineng traders who did not believe in violence as an answer. Instead, she would provide cover by showing the attackers temporary visions of phantoms that were not really there, allowing the traders and herself a quick getaway.

Through her line of duty she met a mysterious male mesmer and they fell in love. He bought her many expensive dresses, and armors before he finally purposed to her. On the day of their wedding, many traders who loved Sue attended to see this blessed day.

That day however proved fatal when her groom revealed himself as Am Fah. The groom and his side of the "family" raised their weapons to the traders, and many if not all were slaughtered that day. The Am Fah proved victorious and ran out of the wedding area to raid the houses of those whom they had killed.

Sue was left crippled and bleeding not only physically, but internally as well from the betrayal of her fiance. Since then, violence became an answer. Her methods became more torturous, especially with Am Fah. Not only would she give them false visions, but she would wear down their energy and cause them to attack themselves helplessly.

While she no longer works with the Kaineng traders, she can still be seen walking along the roads and cities of Cantha, seeking revenge on those who betrayed her.

Bio: Bit of a long bio, but I've never really thought too much about a backstory before and I got carried away.

William was out hunting with his brother when the Charr seared the kingdom of ascalon, he saw from a hilltop the destruction which rained down upon the city of Ascalon and when he returned he found nothing but burnt cinders and broken lives. Collecting the few surviving Ascalonians he tore through Tyria under the mantle of the Legion of the Blue Blade, bent on vengeance and satisfaction. As they travelled through the unwelcoming landscapes of the maguuma jungle and crystal desert, the Blue Blades grew strong and numerous - becoming a formidable force with William at the head, his hatred driving them on. When they finally reached Hell's Precipace and defeated the Lich, the Blue Blades found that their purpose in life had also been defeated and so travelled far and wide seeking a new home to make a life.

Having build up quite a bounty from their quest in Tyria the Blue Blades purchased a guild hall in the imperial city of Kaineng and began to rebuild their lives. One member, called Hobo, did not find peace in Kaineng and instead discovered that the hole left after the destruction of the Lich was too great to bear. He tried filling it with gold, women, lechery and drunkenness - but the emptiness he felt drove him to the edge of madness. In the middle of the night he stole into William's chamber and beat him mercilessly with the butt of his sword. William only came too once or twice that night, only seeing the burning guild hall, doors locked and bolted and hearing faint screams, the laughing face of Hobo - manic with desperation, fear and loathing.

William's badly beaten body was found by the healer Mhenlo, an acquaintance from his travels through Tyria, and over a few months nursed back to health. Gradually, few remaining Blue Blades came to Mhenlo for treatment and shelter. When he was at full strength William found that he was once again homeless and without direction. Mhenlo asked him to assist with a matter of great urgency which threatened the whole of Cantha - the afflicted plague caused by the return of Shiro Tagachi. William and the Blue Blades fought bravely and eventually, with the help of the Luxon armada, they overcame the threat posed by their ancient foe. As a reward Elder Rhea offered William and the Blue Blades positions in the Luxon army guarding the borders between Kurzick and Luxon lands, in order to maintain the tentative peace which followed this victory. William was presented with the armour of the Kurzick elite guard as a sign of good faith.

One day, on routine patrol through a small settlement south of saltspray beach William encountered a contingent of Kurzick elite guards way beyond the borders of their lands. They surrounded their general, whom they held above their heads on a sedan chair, the men at the front of the caravan whipped and lashed out at the people of the village who got in their way. The rest of the Blue Blades lept behind cover, determined to maintain the drop on the Kurzick warband - William, however, did not move. To his horror William recognised the face of the cruel Kurzick general, it was Hobo. Forgetting the treaty, forgetting the honour of his position and forgetting his loyalty to the Luxon armada, William drew his blades and charged at the platoon of highly skilled Kurzick guards, singlehandedly cutting his way to the center of their group. When all the guards lay dead he turned to the fleeing character of Hobo and let loose and arrow from his bow - the head lodged deep in the back of Hobo's skull.

The villagers, terrified of the fury and violence they just witnessed drove the Blue Blades out the village and into the wilderness. Now the Blue Blades patrol the Luxon borders, cast out by Elde Rhea and despised by Kurzick soldiers they use guerilla warfare tactics to take large Kurzick patrols by suprise.

"I did not became an necromancer by choice, I was born one.."

My mother was an Necromancer High Priest of a small cult, which name I cannot say. My father on the other hand was a Priest.. He was an Healer.. I realise that is an odd combination and everyone condemned my father for falling in love with my mother.

When I was little I always spent my times in the Graveyard, Death fascinated me. I remember the first time I raised my first minion, my cat had died and I did not want to lose it..

I knew my mother was able to exploit corpses and make them work for her. This of course my Dad didn’t like. “Let the dead be dead” . So I looked in one of her books and quickly found the spell that would make a minion. I went back to the place where I had buried him and started chanting the spell. I had no idea what I was doing but at that moment it felt all natural. And I succeeded! My first minion, my first Necromancy act. The only downside was that the following day my father had it killed. But I knew what I was destined to do. What I was destined to become...

I was to become a great Necromancer, one that would control an army of minions...

I'm already working on the first commission (I did a rough color sketch this morning to get the details of armor and faces down...)

The finished piece will probably be dramatically different tho (more interesting pose, bg and the whole deal). Still have yet to hear back from the patron.

I am very worried now though that I will be swamped with work now though. So I think I'm going to change the format of my commissions after I finish with the first three I already accepted.

Basically, I think I am going to increase the number of slots to 4.

Two will be normal waitlist spots, same as before.
One will be a Freebie slot that I'll just pick from the requests in this thread (I'll most likely do it if I love your character's style/ or just want to paint him/her). For this one, I get to pick the format/style, because it's mainly for fun rather than profit.
One will be an auction spot, for those that want their characters done NOW. For this one, you get to pick whatever format you would like (within reason, and certain time constraints)

I am hoping this will accommodate every one, so everyone has a chance to get their character done.

Edit: oh and shameless plug here: Might be looking for a guild eventually... Problem is, I'm semi active, because I'm painting or doing some work a lot of the time, but I am pretty much every day. I may want a wallpaper-sized art (speed btw). The current one is boring me now.

Biography:
Was born back in a time when Dhuum was still the God of Death, Konig was turned into a lich when he asked for power to kill those who were trying to kill him (who they were is now unknown, only Konig knows, as he killed many different groups of people). He was forced in his contract to Dhuum to act as a “living” Envoy for years, until Dhuum fell. But even then, Grenth forced Konig to continue duties, but in a more just matter.

When Abaddon rebelled, Konig made a deal with Grenth. Konig would help defeat Abaddon in exchange for his freedom. The deal was made and upon the victory of the True Gods, Konig’s duties were over. Konig enjoyed his freedom for many years, but soon (to him) became bored with nothing to do. He was witnessed Joko’s turn into becoming a Lich, and saw Thorn turn mad in life – which was partially caused by Joko’s turn into becoming a Lich. Konig now celebrates Thorn’s return with much eagerness, as he enjoys the slaughter that Thorn brings about – as he says, Halloween is a time for him to increase his “Deadite Army.”

Two hundred years ago, Konig sided with Palawa Joko in his war against Elona, but when Joko lost, Konig lost interest and left for Tyria where he met Mage Lord Odran. Lord Odran tricked and trapped Konig, using his energy to power some of the first portals. After the creation of the portals, Odran quickly locked Konig in the catacombs underneath Ascalon, where he was stuck there until 1070 AE. In 1070 AE, Azazel freed him when the Necromancer Order of Ascalon complained about a foul presence in the Catacombs that was, until recently, dormant. Upon freedom, Konig was sent north of the wall with Azazel to put a dent in the Charr’s invading force; here they met Agares Hastur – a very recent prisoner of the Charr. While north of the wall, the Searing occurred, the group only returned to “find bodies for rebuilding my army that was destroyed with Joko” as Konig stated.

I'm really impressed at the quality of your work. It is amazing! Do you have any DeviantArt page? I'd love to see more of what you've been doing.

I know the waiting list is getting long, but I am willing to apply for the comission anyway, for a CG painting in Desktop quality. I don't know if you'll eventually have the time, but it is worth a try.

Here is a little story on my mesmer I wrote some time ago, roughly translated from spanish.

The Mesmer Apprentice

When I first knew you, you were still a mesmer apprentice.

We made a long journey together, went through many different landscapes, and you started learning the mysteries of magic.

You started to became powerful, but also more arrogant.

And one day like any other, you found a sword,

and started practicing your magic with it, like it had never done before.

By then, your power had grown high, and you were not the same anymore. So I decided to say farewell and follow my own path. I expected not to see you ever again.

But then the rumors started. It was said that there was a shadow warrior who had challenged princes,

and spilled the blood of great masters

with only one sword in one hand, and a rose in the other one.

I didn't believe them. I did not, until our paths crossed again. And then, in that last moment, I recognized what was left of that mesmer apprentice in the look of your eyes.

What had you became? I never knew. All that I know, is that nothing can stop you now.

Character Background

This mesmer is considered by all the inhabitants of Tyria like a true hero, a champion of good. But the truth that has guided all his historical deeds is not the pursuit of fame, the imperative of honor or even the greed for money. The true reason bethind his acts is his insatiable need of power. Power, like the Litch thought he had, to mock the death itself. Power, to use the souls of the deceased to his will, like Shiro. Power to control the facets of the elements, like the prophet dragon, or to fight and revert the strogest magic, like the old dragon Kuunavang. Power, to be unleashed from an untemporal prison and reshape the reality itself, as the fallen god Abaddon held. All of them lay dead now. And all their powers belong to him. But his hunger for power is growing even stronger, as he desperately seeks for a new goal, looks for a new power, a new heroical deed to fulfill. For this is the only way he can briefly silence the hunger of his soul.

If I'm lucky enough and my character gets picked, I'll leave it to you and see what you come up with. As you like to draw environments, my personal preference would be hands down the Realm of Torment, but feel free to use anything you feel like.

If I get picked, I'd like you to work with my Paragon, Eryn Shadowbane.
She's my absolute favourite character, has been through every possible situation in GuildWars and is very special to me. I do not usually make up stories and pasts for my characters, but here's a short paragraph of something I wrote a while ago, which gives you a bit of an idea. Anti-heros have always appealed to me, and I felt that the strong angelic reference in paragons had to be balanced and contrasted with something sinister.

Though barely past noon, the weak sun cast but a deceptive, fleeting light over the vast, bleak ridges of the Poisonous Outcrops. This far in the north, Abaddon’s dark clutch was almost physically tangible, defying the otherwise supreme reign of Elona’s sun. The continuous battle of day and night has plunged the region into perpetual twilight, occasionally broken only by vicious flashes of green where Abaddon’s poison prevailed over the seemingly impenetrable black rock. A haunt of the undead. A haunt of demons.

Eryn had long since given up wondering why time upon time she felt drawn to this forbidding place. Brought up by the Sunspears, Eryn had never known her parents. The order had educated her, trained her to fight darkness and injustice and had christened her with a surname they felt would plant fear into the hearts of their enemies. Yet somehow she had always known that there was more to her past. Something no one knew, or no one told her about. A dark stigma that clung to her, setting her apart from others, inspiring dark dreams and dark moods. A stigma that had scared her in the past but one she had long since come to accept. A stigma that time upon time pulled her to this place like an invisible force, making her wander the eerie paths, lost in dark thought.
