Looks good, that must've taken you quite some time! ^^
Difficult to tell you how to improve the Mad King seeing as we can only barely see his legs so far? :/ You need to ensure he stands out from the crowd of pumpkins though, and doesn't just disappear in the masses! ^.^
I'm guessing you're opting for the "most pumpkiny" award

Nice start Corrupter! ^_^
I can't think of any advice for the top part at the moment, sorry.
Just wanted to wish good luck to the judges to count all those pumpkins in this picture (for the "most pumpkins in a picture" award).
EDIT: I also wanted to offer to help people with pose reference pictures. I can render you a model of a horse, dog, cat and dragon in any pose from any angle (of course all basic and bland looking LOL). I know sometimes it's a bitch to find a good pose reference picture. :P

Goodness that's a lot of pumpkins!
I would love to judge. I'm not entering my piece for anything on this thread so I'd like to participate somehow. If you want my help I'll PM you my MSN address.

Oh cool, new categories!
Working on the architecture right now, and it's drastically changing the overall look to the picture in a good way. No real major edits besides that, so I'll just post the completed piece next.
@Corrupter: I like the coloring you did on the pumpkins - nice blending. I say go with the manga version of Thorn. Having a "realistic" Thorn in there might look a bit out of place - unless you find a way to harmonize the two styles which would probably look neat.

Guess who finally got her act together!
These are just crap sketches of the costumes for Jenna and Ebia. I'll upload the Gui one sometime when the main comp is on so I can scan it, and when I figure out what the heck my Photobucket password is (just left this comp on login, was trying to get on from my mom's netbook and could not remember it for the life of me).
I think Jenna's turned out fairly well; I was basing it on the Mo/E sort of Charr, the orangey upright kind, but with some hints of metal in there. Ebia's I'm a bit more iffy about. I like the fur, and I think the overall shape of it is nice, but the pattern is fairly meh. And those boots... God, I just could not figure out how to integrate the stupid platform boots into the outfit. Help with that would definitely be appreciated.
I think Jenna and Ebia are pretty much going to be semi-chibis, since I think trying to draw them in the background in my normal style will a) make them look really weird and b) unbalance and generally lessen the quality of the picture.

WIP Check! Started Paaaintingzzzzz. I got the basic colors in, but I still need to work on value quite a lot.
Main Concerns:
Does Zhaitan look awe/fear inspiring? Is it enough? Should he be even BIGGER?
Does Mad King look like the puny human that he is in front of Zhaitan? Is that a problem?
Can you still tell it's Lion's Arch?
Can I make the changes without ruining the composition?
Do I like cake? (The answer is no)

Very nice start, with a strong composition. Zhaitan looks nice bigger isn't always better. If you get a good atmosphere going he'll be creepy sitting there in the middle. As for it being Lions arch, I couldn't really tell. But I dont 100% know what it looks like.
As you said you'll work on your values, that seems to be the major thing that needs work.

BlueXIV, very nice one, a few suggestions:
Surround Zhaitan with some minions (should look small compared to him), make the two pillars where he's sitting much bigger than the other ones (including the ruins on the right), maybe add a little more depth between Zhaitan and Mad King at the forefront while keeping Zhaitan the same size on the picture.
The moon looks a tad too big IMO.
To suggest LA even more (but isn't Zhaitan supposed to be in Orr?) you may want to add lighthouse ruins.
Mad King is recognizable
Charlie: amazing piece! B&W gives it such a nice and original touch. You should put a pumpkin in place of the mace ball .
So many talented people!

@Blue
I know I'm going to be on the wrong end of Internet hate for this, but I have to admit the very first question I have about Zhaitan is why he seems to be in the process of constructing a giant wigwam over LA.
On a more serious note, wouldn't the bone dragon's wings be more on the horizontal plane of the dragon's body? Right now they'd be arresting the dragon's dive yet everything else suggests he's diving in dramatically.
It seems to be mostly the nearside wing, it looks to me like the dragon is about the bank left and away from Zhaitan.
Bravo on the idea though, I suspect you have a real contender there.

@ Gwee, Ty for the comments. I just did a color lay in, so most of the values aren't in there yet hehe.
@ Fril, I actually did want to include minions, but I also wanted him to look _MASSIVE_, so I think the minions might be too small to see :\. I'm still playing with the moon size, trying to decide between v small to huuuuge and cartoony. Hahaha.
I'm hoping more depth will come with more values. I could be wrong tho.
@ Widow, D:.
And about the dragon wings, I actually imagined the bone dragon to be more circling than diving. I do see what you mean by the wing tho, I'll try to work that a bit more. Thanks

Blue: love it nicest piese for colour mix so far the bes to make it more lions archy try putting in a burning/normal ship ih the back ground as it may givea a more LAS feel, totally agree the aitan shouldnt be bigger.
Charlie: k first of try doing the pumpkin idea with some of it shaded cos this will give the whole puece a much more halloweeny theme cos right now theres no real halloween feel atm apart from pumpkin pillars , i know this is a bit late put maybe you should have gone for mad thorns guard ^^.
Tzu love it high heels is a definite
kiya propabably gonna win try putting a pumpkin over golems head just a thought
Gwee nothing to say tbh the jora is fantastics got the halloween feels blend is brilliant, maybe entitle piece salyer of pumpkins to get with the whole guild wars rank thingymajig

Wow, guess I didn't have my act together as much as I thought, considering that I FORGOT TO POST THE PICTURES. Lolzapalooza. Here they are:
Also, @Blue, that looks FRICKIN AMAZING. I don't even know how to critique that (well okay maybe I think it could use just a leeeetle bit more contrast, but really that's all I can say).

I think you forgot to post the sample picture
Unfortunately, I'm all out of space for the picture. Coincidentally, I decided to edit the hammer head to a similar manner that Fril mentioned shortly after I changed it. I'm not going to spoil it, but I'll say it now looks like a "Halloween weapon spell".
P.S. Don't quote me on the Baroque - I'm awful at multi-tasking and still might use that for that other contest

Qing Guang; the design looks good so far, but I didn't reckognize Ebia as a norn at first glance. You might want to copy some of the existing female norn attires, and just add the platform boots. Jenna's charr costume needs a little extra tinkering as well, but not so much as Ebias. I like the feathers, but you might want to add more charr details to it all, especially elaborate on the head. The costumes should be immediately reckognizable, in my opinion.
As for baroque, Charlie and Deatgs, it's just a style and it doesn't belong to anyone. Different people pull it of in different ways and of different skill, so your artworks won't look like one another's anyway. I doubt either of you would loose points because you're not the only one to use a particular style, it's the same as saying Blue and Espy's art isn't all that special because both of them prefer realism.

Blue, I love your pic idea! It's going to look so nice!
I'm not envious of the judges having to judge so many different art forms. It'll be incredibly difficult to match up costumes vs. plushies vs. pictures vs. whatever else.
As for my pic, I reworked the pose. Will post WIPs once I'm halfway satisfied.

It's too bad that this is for visual art, as I have to write a ghost/Halloween story for my English class, and was planning on doing something GW-themed (because I'm a dork)

Makes it sound as though it's just for visual art. I will probably still post my story, though, and possibly even attempt illustrating part of it
