Well, I'm taking ~a week off from Aion.

Having recently (finally) set up my colour printer on campus the first thing I did was to start printing out various pictures to stick around my room.

That's when it really jumped out at me -- dpi makes a huge difference when you print something out! O__________________O

I normally work very small, in the 300x300~800x600 pixel range. It looks pretty crappy (and you can actually see each individual pixel) when you print it out, though.

So, for my week of Aion abstinence, I'm going to try to challenge myself by creating a single A4 (paper-size) artwork at 300 dpi.

This is where you come in. Post ref pics and background information for one of your ♀ characters, and I'll pick one character as my main subject to draw.

The catch - it can't be a GW or Aion character.
If you have another OC that has the same name as one of your GW chars, that's fine.
It also has to be one of YOUR characters.
Aside from that, anything goes.

You have until 9 PM EST Tuesday (11/3) night to post info about your characters.

The final product will be (hopefully) large enough to cover a whole sheet of printer paper, in full colour, at 300 dpi resolution. I would offer to mail you a print except my color printer fails at vivid colours and the only paper I have is regular printer paper. lol

Yeah, when I was in photography in high school it really opened my eyes dpi. In the beginning my photos would look great on the screen, then come out looking all blurry. Because I've submitted to so many photo contests though I eventually got the hang of it, and yeah it makes a hell of a lot difference. =P

300dpi is a leap for you, it will be fantastic to see!

I do have a 'couple OCs, need some time to think about how to best represent them though.

I think I'll give a different RP character of mine for a change. Yin-Mei, a Mage of...unusual powers.

(I did not draw that, btw. It was a commission I had done a few years ago when I failed repeatedly at drawing her. I only colored it in).

She was of normal and fairly humble origins, a Chinese peasant girl (not that she saw herself as one, being the daughter of an important person in a well-off village; as far as she was concerned she was practically nobility) with nothing special about her at all. Until an attack was made on her home. A dozen spectral creatures attacked, using their magic to kill indiscriminately; Mei was among those counted dead. She wasn't, however, as for unknown reasons the magic used against her managed to infuse with her own life force, infusing her with strong magical powers. As she had seemingly risen from the dead, with powers she could hardly control, and in fact found that she could transform into a form that resembled the very specters that nearly killed her, she was exiled from her home; the people were simply too afraid of her and thought she had turned into some sort of demon. She's learned some more control over her powers now, though they are still rather wild, and seeks revenge for what was done to her while avoiding others as much as possible.

Mei is a very entertaining character

Just two notes that are rather important - her eyes are silver (this is the only outwardly visible sign of the changes that happened to her), and her magic takes the form of silvery fire. And the specters themselves are/were silver in color

These are all old drawings of mine, from back when I did everything by hand,
only occasionally colouring in photoshop (and sucking pretty bad at it):

Saiu Solis
An elven sort of creature from a book I used to try and write when I was a kid. Saiu normally wears a lampshade for a skirt, and suffers from a severe case of kleptomania. The king of the realm had her neutralized by admitting her into his Royal Academy, where she studies every subject possible and seems content with that. She's just a sidekick to the main character and her story was never to be fully revealed.

Xis
Same race as Saiu, part of the Legendary Four; a group of warriors who brought the realm out of it's first world war. They never actually met, and acted independently, contrary to popular belief. Xis' origins are unknown and no one knows where she went after saving the humanoid races. The black eye signifies that a demon has begun to take hold of her, an irreversible process which eventually leads to a painful and extended death. I don't what kind of colour-scheme you go for, the only important thing is that her hair is a dark, burnt, red.

My newest one is from a guilty pleasure of mine: Harry Potter roleplay. I don't think I've been in one for several years, but I joined a post-war one in September. She might seem visually simple, but she grew on me.

Name: Morgan Renae Anduss
Age(Year): 18(7th)
House: Ravenclaw
Gender: Female
Appearance: Morgan is fairly average, if not somewhat pretty. Her short (less than 5'4") body is in proportion for the most part with a curvy hourglass figure. Her skin is creamy pale and feels like velvet. Bright green-blue eyes and dirty blond hair are the main features of her oval-round face. Her hair falls straight, slightly chopped or razored, below her collar bone, with a part on the right side and most of her bangs naturally falling diagonally to her brow over the left. She also wears dark blue top-rimmed glasses with a rhinestone on the left side.
Personality: Although she was bright, though somewhat air-headed like Lovegood, the first few years of her education... Morgan changed. She still smiles properly and acts fairly average. However, she will look down instead of forward and only smiles instead of laughing. No one knows she has turned into a werewolf and only assume her scheduled fatigue is from the deep-seated need for therapy. Instead, her wolf would prefer another, more confident and dominant wolf to find and help her.

Biography: Morgan had it easy the first four years of school. An only child with normal parents. A puppy Crup for her thirteenth birthday. When Voldemort returned, her parents were called. Shortly before Dumbledore fell, her parents failed a joint mission and fled without her. When it was time to return home for Summer Hols, she was received by the Malfoys. Voldemort took her in as bait for her parents. At the turning point of her stay in the dungeons, rather than finding insanity, she killed three Death Eaters and insisted it was her proof she could serve the Dark Lord.
During the final battle, Morgan wore a white mask with many others. Near the end, she saw one of her best friends fall and froze before becoming traitor to her Master. One of her master's werewolves realized that a white-masked individual was fighting the wrong side and took her down. All he accomplished was digging his teeth into her right hip as the wolf knocked her out with the impact to the ground and moved on. She has almost entirely eliminated a limp, but favors that side when standing still for long periods of time.
A werewolf ex-Death Eater. She felt doomed. By the time she was found on the field, her white mask was missing and her black robes looked like anybody else's. No one seemed to realize she was anything more than Voldemort's victim caught in the middle of war.

A werewolf, in my mind, is a much larger version of a real wolf. Female weres would be only slightly larger than a large male gray wolf, really.

Looking at her bio now, it's funny how underdeveloped and rushed she seems when I first started her. D: I really wanted in that RP FAST. If you need references other than her semi-massive desc, though, I'll be happy to hunt some down. Like... I didn't include it because she was always in school robes in the RP, but she didn't have money to change her wardrobe to hide her "out there" personality during and after the war, so her non-school robes are somewhat crazy and goofy. Which would lend more creativity to outfit choices than the standard black school robes.
