Feeding time for Pyre .
Cute is good, doesn't matter whether it's a bear or a wolf cub .

You are more than welcome to join the party Penguin ^_^
Your painting is absolutely fantastic! I hope someday I'll be as good as you.
I imagine Tzu will post the details of the party as soon as we figured it all out.
That reminds me guys... we need to figure it out

Sorry for the late CC but I'd still like to give some.
First of all, your pencil and brush work is first class. You are clearly a pro or a very accomplished amateur. The trompe l'oeil is very good, one could even suspect that a bit too good if it draws the attention away from the shortcomings of the actual work. When I say shortcomings you must understand that the standard here is quite a bit higher than usual and I'm talking about relatively minor issues.
The most obvious thing is that the 'bear' doesn't indeed look anything like a polar bear cub. The proportions of the head and body are much closer to a canine, and as far as I can tell from the low resolution image there's something seriously wrong with the forepaws. This is all the more apparent (and surprising) in contrast to the rest of the work that is executed almost flawlessly in a technical sense.
The second thing is that the overall composition of the picture is disjointed. The different parts of the composition are just floating in the void and there isn't any meaningful interaction between them. The chosen style of brushwork only makes it more apparent. Had you used a dark background the effect would have been much less obvious because the features would have looked like having been picked from the darkness by a spotlight (and it would have given better contrast for the cub as well). The facial expressions of Gwen and the charr don't support the work as a whole. Why does Gwen have her eyes closed with a blank expression? Why is the charr just a furious floating head? As they are right now they look like juxtaposed pieces from three different works instead of one integral work.

Dutch, thanks for the input on the border. I didn't go with red and orange but rather with green and blue for Grenth and Dwayna. Good idea about the snowflakes. Hope I didn't add too many. Here's what I think is my final. Letting it sit and percolate on the puter for a bit before submitting.

Since he looks like one of the Grentch's that hit me in the Secret Lair of the Snowmen, maybe a background similar to that dungeon?
Oh, and I guess I should post my details as instructed in Tzu's opening post:

If I were you, I would make the font stand out better, it's kind of invisable with the background now, I noticed there was font, but I didnt really pay attention to it when looking the first time..
EDIT: no wait, the thing that's disturbing is the font itself, with the blurry background the swirly effect gets kind of anoying..

mkay, here's a few pictures. It's taking a while to process cus I've got something like 800 to choose from..... o.o''
Still dunno which Ill use for my entry. I'll stuff my blog full with pictures later, as well as my site, I suppose.
BlueXIV commented that my eyes are a bit red in a few of them. That's absolutely true. -20C and blinding sunlight will do that to you. if you guys agree that these pictures show that all too well, I'll have to get back to photoshop and work some more... XD
I suck a bit at photo manipulation, I admit. ^^'

@Tzu: /agree with Yasmine, those photos look somewhat haughty and cold without a smile. However, even more important would be to have eye contact with the observer, otherwise the observer tries to follow your line of sight and wonders what you are seeing out there that is so much more interesting than the photo in question

Yasmine, I think if the font were just a little bit bigger it would help. Or maybe bolded. It feathers in to the rest of the piece too much.
Tzu, stunning, just stunning. The detail work on the armor is really good. Two thumbs up!

I tried to make a candle with a guildwarstheme. The hard part was that when you burn the thing it is melting :P . The candle was 5cm in highed. (ps. didn't use photoshop just took some pictures, in the background a printed screenshot. In these images the watermark is the only photoshopped thing.)
Before burning it:

Yassmine, I tried to do what Garreth told you to do with your text(I copy pasted it into photoshop) and it workouts fine when you bolt your text some more, because, as Garreth said, it's too thin now.
Also, nice candle Brother!
