Dutch: looks much better, I like the little story you've added to your picture now.
Kiya: AWESOME! I love your presentation of your project, it's rare to see the extent of an ambitious project like yours actually be made some sort of justice in a collage of photos. I think you did great, everything looks spotless, and you managed to really show off the amount of detail your project embodies. Oh, and I LOVE prof. Yakkington! XD

yeah, we only had 1 entry for the prose award, and he agreed to taking the prize down if no one else entered. I think I'll use the stack of 250, if Kiya agrees to it of course, to simply "spice" the rest of the awards. A little something extra for every winner.
The caption contest is still open. The deadline for all entries except the Prose Award is the 31st. However, judging won't begin before the 1rst or 2nd, so I allow entries submitted a little later.
I'm sorry I don't have a lot of time today to answer PMs and discuss the party. I'll get back to everything on 30th, in the afternoon or evening sometime. Maybe, in the meantime, someone could help me out with a little dilemma of mine?
I don't have time to make the gloves for the Dwayna costume, and I'm wondering whether to leave my arms "naked", still painted silvery blue like hers, or if I should paint on some gloves with my blue bodypaint. It won't look like gloves, obviously, it will have a tattoo-like look. I think I can manage to make it look decent, after all the body deco practice I had with my riatualist costume.
What do you guys think? Naked, or painted?

I'd say painted, how's your costume coming along, still having trouble getting it done on time, or are the gloves the only thing left?

I think I shall manage to get it done it time, lest I'll greatly disappoint my photographer friends I'm sure. But yeah, the gloves will have to go. Your vote is noted!

No slacking Tzu! Painted! Feel free to scatter the CC's around, as long as I get those two stacks out of my storage.
Tweaked it a tad and sent in my final pic this morning Forgot to tag it with a confirmation, freaks me out when a 1.4MB file sends so quick.

How far up would the "gloves" go? Dwayna's only go up so far. Maybe a combination of painted "gloves" with silvery-blue "naked" above that (or was that already in the plans). Painted gloves for sure.
Kiya: Ok, I'd like to order one of the Yaks, one Jingle Moa and 2 sets of the ornaments On a serious note, how did you do the skill icon ornaments? They look like they are made with some type of cellophane material the way the light shines through.
Dutch: I like it. I understand your question about the font. How difficult would it be to make it brighter and show both? It does seem that some letters could stand to be brighter.

It looks very cool. Very creative and something different to enter. And yeah, the font does need a bit of brightening to make it pop out more from the black background (the white border around it helps of course, but still kind of looks like the font itself is part of the background).
@Kiyra: A+++++ I want to steal Professor Yakkington... I mean, look at him closely... for a long time.

I used shrink film for the skill ornaments. The inkjet version is rather high priced, not so bad when you can use a 40% off coupon, and even though it says clear it's rather foggy when it shrinks. It's like Shrinky Dinks if you ever had those as a kid. I had bought a bunch of transparent glass paint and glass balls but the stuff is too transparent for painting pictures on (I ended up using acrylics to do the Avatar of Dwayna ball.) I really wanted to make ball ornaments like the glowing scenes in Hell's Precipice but they just didnt work out.
And I'll be doing commissions again starting in January.

Beauty and the Beast
sorry i am last to enter but here is my finished work [1st post btw]
During the Halloween contest, I created a ***** which took me a couple of weeks to make. I than had to take it apart where it now just sits in my basement. For this contest, I wanted to make something that was more practical and that everyone could enjoy, even if they know nothing about Guild Wars.
No Photoshop image editing was used, just pencil and oil paints. I first got the flat wooden boards that would be the frame. I then used the oil paints and applied them in many layers to the wood in order cover up any visible markings. Next, I had the actual picture painted on white canvas and attached everything with glue.
When everything was finished, it was very hard for the naked eye to tell that the frame was painted on a flat surface producing a 3-D effect, while the canvas inside gives off different textures and bright colours, generating the contrast I wanted.
The purpose of this project was to show what I think the Wintersday spirit is all about, proving that the giving and receiving of friendship can heal past wrongs, all being expressed through my art.
i know its cheezy

Wow that is amazing Penguin!
Anyway, here's my update. Screen 4 still needs a lot of work so I left it out. Screen 3 still needs ornaments etc for the tree.
Should I make the eyes of the rabbit in the first screen red or blue?

That is really neat Penguin!
Agree with blue eyes. Evil red eyes are so overdone.

Cheesy? Not at all, Penguin. That's awesome!
@Dzjudz: I would leave them blue so the rabbit is more "innocent."

Whoa! Penguin that is amazing! I wish I had such talent! Not even the image, but also the picture frame is just astounding! You're definitely getting an art book, and I'll personally riot outside the anet offices if you don't!

Penguin... omg. That's amazing. I love love love how you add depth and realism to every bit of that. The frame itself is brain breaking, when you realize it's flat... but not. Wow. Your Gwen is <3333333333333 awesome.
