@Morag: I love the colors you chose!
@Kiya: A naga plushie sounds awesome! Can't wait to see the finished thing.

@ Morag: Very, very nice colours! It really looks like a harsh winter. Can't wait to see more.
@ Kiya: Yeah, finding good fabric colours is a pain sometimes. To keep up creativity, it's better to just put the offending project aside and work on something else for a while, like you did. You can always get back to the moas later.
@ Princess Blades: Ornaments sound fun!

@ Morag, that looks superb! I love the feeling it gives. It reminds me of that story during WWI when the British and German soldiers stopped fighting on Christmas and spent the day celebrating together in no-mans land.
@Kiya I'm really looking forward to what you come up with, it sounds like its gonig to be very impressive.

Small WIP update. I havn't had a chance to do much though. Added a moon, and I sort of cleaned up my characters and worked in a lot of the details for my Dervish. Though I admit, this look more like a Halloween entry with my headless Ele there! o.0
Once I start making the forest and have the main tree in place, I'm hoping that I'll be able to hide a lot of the errors and stuff that come with this being such a new thing for me by uping the contrast as per the lighting conditions.

Great work so far from everybody! And looks like Morag's a definite candidate for the Wintersday Spirit award already (btw Tzu, did you remember to add my 25k from the last workshop to that award?)
I guess I will have to set aside the Doppelganger picture (much as I want to get it done) for a while so I can work on this, especially since my mom just told me she wants me to do a frikkin pen-and-ink (I HATE INK) portrait of my grandparents for Christmas and that is going to take FOREVER.
Oh (small derailment alert, I'm afraid), has anyone else been having problems with DeviantART? I was going on this morning to check my messages (and perhaps post up all those pictures before I embark on this new one) but although I have 5 new messages when I go to my inbox the page is blank - everything is there but there isn't even a 0 messages sign. And I can't post a journal to ask for help and I can't look at anyone's deviations. (and I don't know where the help page is)

Please forgive the angle and photo quality.
Still need to do its outfit, and might add an extension to the tail, the upper body ended up a little larger then planned so the tail is too short now. Im going to pinch down the shoulders a bit to compensate which will get disguised under the scarf.

Wire frame in the lower half. Its a bit of a balancing act, especially the more details go onto it. Remembered to turn on the flash this time.

I'm still idea-pondering, myself! Been a bit busy between work and school stuff, as well as my commissions. I've got some ideas I want to try sketching out, though. So we'll see.

Haven't gotten much done. I fixed my white moa chick's eyes and started some ornament attempts. I'll be lumping my current status and progress shots on http://wintersday2009.kirins.net
