Ah, the awards are up.
First - I believe you mean Wintersday Artist Extraordinaire, not Halloween?
Second - I am unsure of whether the "Wintersday Spirit" prize is my concept or not. My original idea (which was going to be the "Spirit of Wintersday" or some such) was this:
Show us the spirit of Wintersday! Whether it was Luxons and Kurzicks exchanging gifts, a Shining Blade sneaking up to leave a White Mantle a gift, or just Kournans and Sunspears sharing some hot cocoa, this artist's picture was full of the joy and warmth of heart that Wintersday represents.
As I said I'm not sure whether or not those two are the same thing, so I'll leave it up to you, Tzu, to decide whether that should be 2 awards or one.

Can I place my vote for the party being after Wintersday? I'll definitely be needing a pick me up fun thing around that time.
Trying to start planning out my stuff. There was a bit of a mini moa massacre next to my desk this week.

WOOOT! more workshop action - perfect! When I read about the screenshot category, I remembered something I did last year:
this is meant not as an entry (because it has been shown elsewhere etc...) but as inspiration I'm not the best screenshot-taker in the world, but I think that one's pretty neat
HAPPY WINTERSDAY SPIRIT!!

Well, here's my very first WIP Picture. I spent the last six months or so visualizing what I want my entry to look like, though I finally concentrated it down to one idea that I really like this past week. The neighbors across the street were having a party (not a good kind) so I thought 'what the heck, I'm not going to be sleeping, and playing a game seems like too much at 2:00 am.' So I grabbed my tablet, loaded up photoshop, and went to work creating my entry.
At the moment I'm concentrating on making everything from scratch this time; no character renders, no premade trees or backgrounds or anything of that nature.
This is an extremely early WIP, only started *squints at clock* 2 hours ago.
Eventually that blank Wintersday tree will be a bight beacon of cheery glow. My other characters will be around it decorating, as has turned out to be their usual traditional depiction. My Dervish and my Ele are there in the foreground and they'll be drinking their cocoa, as is their usual depiction as well. The scene will be a snow covered darkened forest, huge trees abounding in all directions, fading off into that special bluish haze you get on quiet snowy nights. The multi-hued glow of the Wintersday tree will light the scene, and a moon filtering through the trees will give a nice ambient light.
Got a ways to go though.
Sort of seems like a rehash of my entry last year, sans Sifhalla and closer in.

I registered on that site. Not ready to share anything yet, I'm playing around with 2 ideas, trying to work out which one I like best. In the meantime I thought I'd share something a friend made for me. My avatar is a section of a much bigger picture that very nice in game friend had commissioned for me way back in 2006 (click for link to larger pic). Another friend of mine took that picture and adapted it for Wintersday:

Qing Guang: lol, where would I be without you people checking up on me ^^'''' thanks.
I think the idea you have for the Wintersday Spirit Award and the one I have are the same, so I won't be splitting it. Have I however made the description a bit short and unclear? That wouldn't be beyond me. >.<'
Kiya: aye, I'll note that vote down. I agree with you on that point.
Morag: haha, I remember that screenshot very well, in fact it was in my head when I made that category. XD But yeah, it's fairly popular and well-known so I suppose it would be better if you entered something new and original for 2009. ^^
Operative14: wowsy! Looks great already! I lovelovelove that screenshot from last year, it's beautiful and oh-so wintersday-y (lol O.o)
tasha darke: ooh I like that a lot Thanks for sharing!

Aiiiii, I am so horribly conflicted... I kind of want to do something with Jenna in her lovely furry armor, but at the same time I am tempted to draw Gui (who, strangely, usually stands in the Dwayna rings >.<)... but I have a lovely design of a warm coat for 'Dea that I'd love to draw... AUGH!

I love that screenshot, Morag
I also vote for the party being after Christmas.
And everyone who's registered I've gone and made their galleries for
I have a vague idea of something to draw - Farai delivering presents to people with Dwayna watching from the background (sort of ghost-like). Undecided if Farai should be in Avatar of Dwayna form (even though normally she's a Lyssa Dervish), or wearing Norn armor, or something
Also I need to get myself to finish up EOTN so I can get Norn armor because I need something Christmasy to wear

Nice to see next edition of Workshop...
After seeing so many great visual works I've decided to use my music skills this year
What do U people think about it. Will this be allowed? And would it be better to use GW Theme or compose something new?

as some of you might've noticed I'm using rare/common materials icons for the list of artists and their progress. The icon is supposed to be symbolic of the category of art you'll be working with (feathers for writers, ink for illustration, fabric for costume, etc) but if you change your mind about what you'll be working with, or if you think the icon isn't representative for what you do, suggest an icon and I'll change it. Just... no ectoplasms or that sort of thing... XD

I have an idea for a comic.
It might be slightly controversial, but it'll have humor. Debateably.
