I give you +5 in creds for understanding what I was talking about (for some reason I just seemed to rant in general T_T and I think you made a very good shape for them; breast attaches kinda high up on the torso, kinda right by the collar bones, and thus has a slight... well triangular with rounded bottom? Shape at the base, it looked realy good marked out. When I try though, they either look like plastic tits or anorexia plumps :/ Guess I have to blame the women around me for that ^^;

It's not so much a secret as just a general irritation at art tutorials. They follow the "step 1, step 2, ????, proft!" model, all the while classily leaving out the actual technique and magic-making. If I can't get anything out of the tutorials I find all over the internet, then I don't really want to give much back either. D:
haha, then do it! Aside from personal (not commissioned from this thread) art I'm getting close to finished working through my waitlist.
|
I wonder if i could pay for a tutorial :P, but yeah I see what you mean when you say there aren't many useful in that aspect
But anyways, I'm gonna have a hard time deciding what character and what costume so I'll prolly end up posting something here tomorrow ^-^

@Gemini - XD;;
@Shy - Hmm I take it that you draw too, do you have a gallery or some examples of your art I could look at? Also, what art program do you use? (I'm the only person on Nolani who uses Paint Tool SAI as far as I know.)
It's been a long time since I made a tutorial. Depending on what you want the tutorial to be about I might consider it.

Actually, I don't draw too much due to the fact that I never really like(d)/am satistfied with my art. So sadly, no I really don't have a gallery to show :/
And I use Photoshop/Gimp mainly, but if i needed to use something else I always could :3 And I mean if it's too much of a trouble, it's np, I'm just trying to find out how people do it xD

I have Photoshop although I quit using it for actual drawing since I got SAI. Never touched gimp and I don't really see a need to, though, since I'm content with the tools I have currently.

Define "it" !
I draw using very different styles and techniques compared to most people on Nolani. There are a lot of painters here and I use a more precision-based layer approach in comparison.

Ok well, I guess I mean just how they manage to color so beautifully and make it look so perfect.
Just the process of adding color to the pieces in general I guess
And oh yeah, have you in general always been that good with drawing the characters, or did it take a lot of time to be able to draw your basic outlines well? ^-^
This is really starting to sound like an interview :P I need to stop >.<

For cel shading:
1. Base colour on a layer underneath the lineart.
2. Lock the layer.
3. Use a hard-edged brush to block in the shadows.
4. Create additional linked layers as needed to add even darker shadows/highlights. (You can do this on the same layer, but I like putting everything on separate layers in case I decide I don't like how it looks and want to delete it.)
I have no clue how the other artists (especially the painters) on Nolani do it. I'm really anal about colouring within the lines.

Heading back home for the weekend -- unless my new tablet comes half a week ahead of time, I'll only be finishing Shenanigan's traditional art commission this weekend.
I'll be bringing my tablet back home for Thanksgiving break, but since the monitor I have at home only goes up to 1280x1024 I won't be working on any *big* commissions.

That's gorgeous :3
I think I'm getting enough money to order a new commission, I'll post later with the form.
Edit: Or not. I don't have ectos or Zkeys, just plat.

So obnoxious its not even funny!
@Shenanigan - I'll complete your commission on Sunday. This was a birthday gift to a guildie.
@inSanity - I do accept plat, it's just not preferred. I wouldn't turn down a commission just because you can't pay in ectos.

@eeks - Stylized anime is a lineart style, not a shading style. xP I'm going to assume you meant cel shading.
