Calling all Artist's (Art Contest)
Hello my fellow players of guildwars, i am the Lurker ive been on this guru for a few years but i just started an accont today. I have done this because it looks like this will be my last halloween on guildwars and since my first account i made was just a few days before the halloween and since then its been my favorite GW in game event, but this is probably going to be my last so i would like some pictures or memories to celebrate the occasion and this is were you artist's come in. i would like a picture or pictures of my various characters (see below) in some sort of guildwars halloween.
Now i wouldent ask for this without some pretty big rewards so heres the list:
The place the picture gets is decided by me and two others
The prizes are in order from greatest to least:
1)500 globs of ectoplasm
2)300 globs of ectoplasm
3)100 globs of ectoplasm
and seven winners get 50 globs of ectoplasm each.
If i see someone has put in alot of effort but not quite enough to raise them a place for example the 3rd place winner does a fantastic job lot of effort but not quite enough to put it into 2nd by the chose of the 3 judges then i might add say 50-100 globs of ectoplasm.
Here are the character pictures:
http://img43.imageshack.us/i/monk.png/
http://img265.imageshack.us/i/rit.png/
http://img529.imageshack.us/i/sinb.png/
well since that doesnt seem to be working
My Necromancer must have minions with him and the ritualist must have spirits, The assasin's favorite skill is shadow form if you can incorporate it that would be great, my warrior in charr armor only uses swords, ranger if pvp if you could show that, The elementalist is an earth attributed, my warrior in ascalonion armor is a perma pre if you could show that it would be cool, dervish uses all avatars idk chose if you want, and monk is a UA monk. You dont have to incorperate any of those but it would help if you did.
This contest will last anywere from two to six weeks including today 9/1/10 probably six weeks. The email adress I set up to take the submissions is [email protected] please with your submission include:
Your Character name
Times your most likely to be online
A return email address you can access to make sure you get your reward
And of course the picture.
http://img810.imageshack.us/i/ectos.png/ picture of the ectos and its trimmed alot so you dont see names or anything i really would prefer not to be pm'ed in game unless absolutly nessisary.
EDIT: their will now be a grand prize winner who gets 2,000 globs of ectoplasm
Thank you everyone and have fun.
PS: Questions or comments email me
Im trying to keep this as formal as possible thats why im typing out globs of ectoplasm but please if you decide to try have fun with it.

Can you prove through screenshots or ingame trades that you really have that amount of Ectoplasms to throw around as prize? If so, I'll might be interested in this.

even 50 globs of ectoplasm would be heartwarming... 50 of the 195 ectos needed left for my rit's FoW...
Sad that it's been so long since I drew anything that I don't have much talent for it anymore (aka "I'm too rusty").

True, even just the 50 Ectos would be enough to help me complete my Hall of Monuments. I'll be giving it a try, but not going to actively work on it much until I've seen you really do have the Ectoplasms.

Not to be a pessimist but that picture of ectos could be anybodies. In 5 seconds on google image search I found a pic of a full storage of ectos just like that. So include your party window with your IGN or its fake and you want free commissions. More proof is needed on existence of ectos before begin drawing

Do you accept free hand drawings as well? As in , shaded pictures, without color.
E.g.
Of course, the background won't be so dark, those pics were taken with my cellphone cam, which is a sucky one. Also, I'd draw your full characters in motion and the additional stuff that you requested, not just portraits like on these pics.

Actually, that could still be an image of someone else's character.
You really won't be able to prove that you have so many ectos without revealing your character's name. You could merely meet one credible person in game to show you have at least 7 stacks of Ecto though.

Who cares if the pictures of ectos are real or not? If you don't want to try making the art, don't do it. It's not a commission, it's a contest. Personally I'm in it just for the fun of making the picture. I've never won anything in my life and I don't think this will be any different, but that doesn't mean I won't take the opportunity to practice my skills now that I have some inspiration.

Actually if he makes a pvp monk, goes to Isle of the Nameless, takes a pic while he's flexing with his right foot being in a kick position, gets himself hexed by that necro npc at the same time and have all his inventory bags open.... and they are full of ectos. That sounds like a proper proof to me. Ofc, he can photoshop that but another form of precaution could be that artists only present non complete work until they get paid... which might trigger a scam from the artist's side.
Anyway I pretty much agree with what the guy above said, it is fun to make some new artwork, if you want to do it only for the ectos and are not sure enough, then don't.

My question, for clarification, is this:
Does all the characters need to be in a single image, or can one do an image per character, or just pick and choose which and how many characters are done?
I may be able to work a piece for a single character - it would be hand drawn and possibly not even colored (if so, it would be via oil pastels which may cause smearing when scanning) - but I definably wouldn't be able to do multiple characters.

The issue with legit issues for the competition can be easily be verified by PMing a moderator of this forum section and providing proof, the mod can then post a reply stating whether or not the competition is real
To OP, no offense, but that's a huge amount for a reward o-o, but nonetheless I'll give it my best shot!

We had a similar contest about a year ago, a mod from Nolani met with the contest starter and confirmed for all that he indeed had the ectos he was giving as prizes.
Also just an fyi, many artists in Nolani might be busy with working on their pictures for the upcoming Halloween contest, in/and the Nolani Workshop at this time.
