Cool! Thanks for taking up the trade section idea

Hopefully all the business side of it (and people posting up screenshots of their characters) can all end up in here and the Nolani section end up with the resulting artwork threads and less trade stuff to wade through to see the actual end product

Nice idea.

I do have one suggestion though. The rules don't make sense in some spots. Where they talk about auctions and banning and the like. I understand they are based on the Ventari rules but some of those don't seem to apply here because the artists and clientele' are different here than in Ventari's. For instance, I don't think I've seen any artist use the thread title "UbAr PiCtUr 4 SeLl".

Thank you for your actually reading the rules thread. I would like to keep this thread free of clutter as well, but this is fine until I get the rules pounded out.

Just make a list of which rules need to be looked at and I'll take a look. I left the bit about auctions, because you never know, someone may want to make an auction for their art work/time to do the art. I've seen auctions done like this, so I decided to leave the rules about auctions in there. They can just as easily be removed though. I did all this last night in about 30 minutes so theres bound to be mistakes.

Might be worth suggesting in the structure of posts how to seperate the art from the business side a bit?

For example: in the main Nolani Academy section the artist can put some pictures and in that first post write "I am doing commissions! Click Here!" which then has a link to their commisions thread in this section... which has their rates, info etc and a link back to the "art" thread... clients can post like before here.

Then when the artist has done something that finished work can be placed in the main Nolani forum.

This way the threads stay organised and clean, and don't have threads with hundreds of responses of trade to click through to try to see the actual work that's done (also faster for browsing)

In short: artist makes picture thread in Nolani, business thread here... requests and info go here, pictures go in Nolani? Otherwise will be same as before with very long threads in here which have mix of pictures and business... which takes ages to go through sometimes

It was the auctions part that I thought didn't make sense but...now that you put it that was it does make sense. I had just never seen any artist auction their work before. However, it might be better to have the rule in there up front than have to possibly add it later.

I like the idea that the business part is over here (complete with people posting their character's screenshots and info) and then the finished artwork along with commentary can be in Nolani side. It was a pain going through the threads before, looking for people's reference screenshots and any other small post that was needed to do the actual commission.
Let's hope this will work.

I have a question/idea/suggestion. I noticed some other forum sites having commission contest and a few contests disappeared for a while with no frequent posts (sometimes because the deadline was set very far in advance so once the initial group of artists knew, not much activity was happening in the thread). I was wondering if, like this thread for keeping track of artists and their status, it would be possible to keep a list of currently open contests. That way there would be a greater yield of artists and it would be more worthwhile to the contest-holder. Better for everybody.
Maybe it's just me being silly, but I get bummed out when the first thing I hear about a contest is that it's ended and there were only a handful of entries (and more than a month to work on something for it).

I like that idea. It's really hard sometimes to keep track of the contest threads because people post so frequently here. I think it wouldn't even hurt to have the contest threads as stickies while they're running - just so artists would notice them easier and be reminded of their existence.
Also, just a sticky thread about running contests would be good. Something that's updated every time a new contest pops up and shows the deadlines of each contest.

As of right now I'm putting a hold on new requests until September. I want to be sure I get everyone's work done before college starts and I've got five weeks to finish 8 pictures right now. Wish me luck and I'll let you know once I've gotten used to my schedule whether I'll be able to open again.
