G!! Don't give up! I am also pushing it to the deadline. lol, might even end up submitting the night of the 15th US Central Time.
Tommy: I like the Kuunavang surprise! And yeah I think they come out of eggs. The problem you mentioned about her legs is not even noticeable anymore.
Here's my progress as of last night. Will try to fix her left arm, put something on the ridges and fix the rendering in the background and yeah the pic is all dark because I haven't even put the highlights/lighting yet =P.

My maths is a little dodgey but I think that would be midday on the 16th (whereever you are ). Though that could be totaly off hehe...
Almost done at least... one final WiK before I put up the final draft:
Think I'm going to remove the globe in the centre - too distracting.

Wow G, that's looking REALLY REALLY GOOD! I love the dragon idea. The rendering on the guy on the left looks amazing and the background. I assume you're still gonna work on rending the guy on the right and the dragon. Can't wait for the finished piece.
this is how far I got to last night. Still got some fixes to do such as her arm, hand. I'll finish it tonight

I like her lips - She looks like she's concentrating on something... or someone.
I love the hair...I must have taken ages to get it that perfect.

The bridge and sunn's right arm are a bit 11th hour.. I can still see me touching it up for days to come aswell
It turned out waaay different from my original vision - But I'm not too disappointed with the final piece.
Also thanks to you guys I learnt a lot - So a big cheers to you all for putting up with my constant spamming of this thread
I think its safe to say scenery is more my caliber than people though hehe.
Next time I'll pay more attention to these things so I have more time in advance
and now...it's 3am...zzzz

Wow, I love that bridge Mr G!
Guess it's my turn:
IWANTTOENTER! D:
Artist Name: Ravenhawk, character by Omens
Artworks Name: Canthan Nights
Artist's Notes:
As soon as it was Omens' turn to get a commission, I immediately realized that theme he requested fits the Canthan Workshop contest:
If I remember it correctly, Omens wanted something "Action-y and has a Canthan/Asian feel".
Since I started my commissions thread, I knew that anatomy, action poses, foreshortening and backgrounds are my main weaknesses. I can't say I am good at any of those right now but I am still working on it. Those are pretty much what I wanted to achieve in this piece. Although the pose was more subdued/stealthy than action-y, the angle and overall anatomy really challenged me (In fact, I still see stuff that I need to fix but the deadline is already passed so I will not update that entry lol, just the one that I send to omens later).
I also tried drawing the background this time instead of using custom brushes or screenshots. I used photoshop's blur tool to emphasize the foreground from the background and try to denote depth and distance. I always like dramatic lightings and it's also one of the things I enjoyed doing the most while doing this piece.
Special thanks to Omens for letting me use his badass ritualist I really had a lot of fun and thank you for the opportunity to join in this contest.

Very nice submissions...looks like the judges will have a hard time deciding. the celestial dragon looks great, like a screencap of guildwars the animated series (but not in a bad way) The rit/assa too, the lighting and color composition is well done..gj =D

you know the dragon in "the dragon and his lady"(?) how do you get the lighting effects and the textures of the scale on the underside of the dragon ? are you guys using a specific art program? (since all i can actually afford is PSelements 8), i don't have a scanner or graphics tablet yet so i haven't been drawing solely from that program.
|
srry, i saw this just now :***
anyway, i've used photoshop cs3 (you can see with what program is picture edited if you right click it > properties)
and for the textures, its basically what Tommy said, although i often use brushes with applied texture on them, i like it that way because its more customizable (i hate when "transform wrap" messes up my texture >_<). For dragon scales, i used combined custom brush and pattern and some other tiny settings. You can probably do that with pse, but im not sure, you can always download trial version of both programs, and see what function you'll have. Or you can try some free programs, Gimp or something like that.
Oooooooh and i see more finished entries, yaaay ^^ too bad there's just a few (( but still yaaay ^^
p.s. Tommy, you forgot to add Lili's entry in OP

Good luck to everyone. I had fun participating.
I also added an additional description to my entry, more like personal notes/thoughts on the entire process of creating my artwork.

We are going to hear who won when I get the results back from the judges I set the deadline for that on the first of July. So you will have to wait a few more days
