Not sure why I'm posting this - Not much has changed
The devil really is in the details with this art stuff huh? Still not happy with Suun's clothes (Looks like he's wearing a hoodie :S) but I don't think I have the time to spend fussing over it. I think is waist sash may be too detailed..or at least too strongly defined compared to the rest though.
I seem to be going around in circles - Everytime I attempt the next section I learn something new, so I have to go back to the previous sections and update them to match. Heh...fun.

The cloths on the left guy are already looking really good. I think the starts in the sky look a bit stupid though XD Probably a custo brush? Maybe change those so that the stars form a dragon or a zodiac animal?

I would recommend the nails of his right forfoot, to make them a bit more flat. I think its practicly impossible to stand on the ground like that, making them a bit more flat, makes it look a bit more realistic imo. Maybe some grass a bit higher at his feet, just so it looks more like its really inside the picture, if you know what I mean
And btw, cliff setting is better yeah, really like the setting as it is now

howdy hoo all ^^ sorry this is a post about those pieces of art mentioned on the first page.
you know the dragon in "the dragon and his lady"(?) how do you get the lighting effects and the textures of the scale on the underside of the dragon ? are you guys using a specific art program? (since all i can actually afford is PSelements 8), i don't have a scanner or graphics tablet yet so i haven't been drawing solely from that program.

You really need to ask Magik (I would recommend sending her a PM as she does not browse these forums very often anymore) on how she used her texture and what program she used.
But here is what I do with using textures. First of all you hardly make textures yourself, very oftenly you will download them, I always used to download them on Deviantart.com but yesterday Perynne gave me a nice site, cgtextures.com.
When you got your texture found, open it with photoshop (I use Photoshop CS3, but I think any program that uses layers and opacity should do ). Then I place it on top of the place I would want the texture to be, errase where there should not be and make the colour almost the same as the colour on the spot you want the texture to be on (Layer>New Adjustment Layer> Colour balance). Then you set the opacity lower so you can see the original drawing underneath it, and it looks like your drawing has texture. If you need it in certain angles, go select the part of the texture you want changed (if not all) and use Free transform> Warp. Then you can make it a bit angled, I think that is what Magik used aswell.
Hope this helped

Lol why did I think here left legg was a huge hanging boob at first? :O I'm scared of myself now Starting to look pretty
Ok so my entry is getting closer to an end, but I still aint happy with my background, got some different ideas rolling, far out of my painting capacity So I'll have to see that I come up with. Almost finished the boy, and then its foot time, as those look crap, she looks like she has the ancles of an grandma Also CnC the legs of her please, they look odd and ugly but can't place my finger on it. Are they too short? Or just the lower legs too short? Or what lol

It's an awesome pic, but I'm worried it may be forever tainted by our gutter brains now
As for Tommy's pic - Looking great as well. I can sort of see what you you mean with the leg's. I think it might have something to do with the knee's. Either too high or too low.. different heights at any rate.
As for mind.. hit a few snares of my own. I just simply don't have the skills yet to put what I want "onto paper". The vast amount of tutorials I have to read are really slowing this whole thing down
Not to mention generating quite a few differences throughout the picture.
Both Suun and his Adept are done now as is the majority of the background. I need to flesh in a small scene of the city itself behind them - But I'm finding it really hard to get the wooden slum style of Kaineng right.
Also need to slap a celestial in the sky - Not sure which.
Also need to finish the globe... yeah lots to do with little time to do it! Better hurry I s'pose

Tommy, what height are you aiming for this character to be? IMO, if like 5'9", I think the legs need to be longer at the upper thigh area. If around 5'2" I think the waist and hips need a little adjusting, like it is starting tapering too low right now.

@Ravenhawk: Oooh, that's a very beautiful rit. I love the details you have put into her armor and I like how she's dressed like a rit and still wielding an assassin dagger while skulking around the rooftops.
@Tommy's: Hmm... yeah, I think her legs are a bit too short. Also, her waist looks a little long, which can also end up making her legs look too short. Maybe round up her hips a little, starting from the place where her shirt creases at the sides? The hips are wide enough certainly, but if you bring their starting point more upwards, it would help to give length to her legs as well.
I love how the little boy looks, he's so cute. :3

think her stance might be a little too wide tommy. and it looks like her right leg is shorter than the other. if youre tryin to make it look like that leg is back further than the other, may need a lil more of a bend to it, like shes walking. other than that its really coming along nicely i like her makeup

Wow, Kiya's work looks like it was rendered in a 3d application.
And Tommy, I think for the legs, her torso is a bit too long and the hips need to be raised a bit. ^^
