Excellent. Nice work with the background. I think you will need moooore shadows on the back of the two guys. Just to contrast more the intensity of light coming from the background (Well, that's what I'll do, don't know what you have in mind ^^)

Background is really good, I so suck at that You really concentrated on it, kudos, jealous on that skill of yours
On the 2 guys on the front, like lili said, more shadows D: It might be cool ( I assume the lightsource are the balloons, so it's coming from the front) is to back their backs really dark, and just the edges of them lighter, as you can see the light a bit on those parts. Tossing some thoughts

Progress pic.
Edit: Meh, I'm going to scrap the little shrine. Angles don't look right and his pose doesn't match what I wanted to convey. Going back to the looking out over a cliff idea.

Wow looking good guys!
Okay so I am planning on entering and hopefully this piece will be done this weekend. I just never have enough time during weekdays to have a significant progress.
It is mine and omens' official entry for the workshop.
and yes, there will be a background lol

Hahaha, I guess when I said "I will put a background" that didn't help my case as much.

How did you do those shades?

I used airbrush pen (black or really dark gray color) with (I think) 25%+ opacity , 20% flow in photoshop set to multiply on another layer. That's usually how I start my shading process.

oh lol! Well, I think if I'd like the same effect in a pencil drawing I would roughly shade the art and take a cotton ball to smudge the shading

For some reason the purple sea seem to give a more Canthan feel to it and an air of mystery. The left one made me think of Lion King right away for some reason but they are both looking good!

Haha, all advice I could give you is look at real cloths Look at where the shadows are. Dont be afriad to make not too nice blended shadows, they mostly are quite stong and stop quickly on cloths anyway. I really find it difficult ymself aswell to good luck with that
