Ok since I now know that animated art (Malafide's vid and Charlie's entry) is allowed I wanted to create a silent story, with just paintings folowing eachother up with camera slides. So what I need to learn are how to create frames and how I can make a camera view zoom in/out and slide across the drawing. Is there anyone here that would be able to teach me that?! Will be damn lot of work, will be like 9-10 drawings I need to make. So I better get started already. Whats normaly the deadline for the wintersday contest, about 1 januari?

Deadlines have varied widely over the years:
2009 - Dec 31st
2008 - Jan 5th
2007 - someone "vandalized" the guildwars.com page as it says postmark by Nov 19th & received by Nov 19th - although it had to be early as it was for hat designs to be used that year.
2006 - Dec 14th

I had a link to some good instructions that teach you how frames work. I need to look for it again - but when I find it I can post it. But as for camera zoom in/out, I think that's more of a movie program effect than Flash. Though I could be wrong.
I should be able to make it to the get-together tomorrow.

You can do zoom effects in Flash too, but the problem tends to be that rasterized pictures get all pixelly when you zoom closer. So if you want to do a proper effect, you'll have to start off with a huge drawing zoomed out, that you zoom out from, or zoom in towards. Or then you just draw everything in Flash. Although that tends to make things look less painted since Flash is effectively a vector program.
I've done zooming effect before on Flash by resizing the image - start out with a smaller image, then a few frames later have the same image larger, then use the shape shift tool for frames so there's a seamless transition from small to large, and voila, zoom out!

Imma make it to da party, but I can only stay for about an hour or a bit less. I hope the winners are announced at an early stage of the party, because I want to be there to see the real celebration and congratulate people live, not afterwards
I'm already having my mind stuffed full with ideas for the Wintersday workshop, better start working then

Reminding you all that the party is at International District 1, Tomb of Primeval Kings in ~50 minutes.
I'll be announcing the winners and handing out prizes to those present, as well as some candy to whoever wants it. ;P
Just informing you now that I've got a bit of a fever and all the fun that comes with that, so if I seem a little drunk or mentally disorganized please excuse me. :/
