@ Konig: Thanks for the link. I like his writing style, very amusing while being informative XD
I used the same format as wiki, where they capitalized profs. I guess the GW2 wiki (assuming it'll be different than the GW1 wiki) will go with the new caps format
So I'm updating cause a friend wants to see my work and I figured now would be a nice time to stop by the ol' workshop.
i noticed something quirky and interesting and wanted to get an opinion on it.. Frontwards Backwards
I was checking my shadows when i noticed, doesn't it look better backwards? Am i just going crazy? I feel like the quality just improves when it's reversed horizontally and I don't know why....
Minami, could you perhaps check if the current background/bricks are better? I really need some feedback on them, it's at the top of the page (26)
Could you please repost/relink your picture?
I have different forum settings, so I only have 16 pages in this workshop (I like to have many posts per page).
I don't know what's page 26

haha, i don't know what it is either, but I do like the backwards one more. I think the quality is the same, so it's probably just a psychological thing like we read left to right so a pumpkin in the left makes our focus go from left to right and we subconsciously like it or something like that
oh and Konig, i feel silly because i didn't even realize there was a GW2 wiki up !
This is the Effigy this morning in its final resting spot. The armature is attached to a few base boards.
Here it is with the base boards buried in the dirt. Now work can really start! From this point on, it will start looking more and more like what it's going to end up as.
The first step is to build up the volume of the figure. In later stages, I will be able to cut away unwanted sticks, but for right now, they'll provide important framework once I start putting more detail in. In this picture, I haven't quite started with the legs. These twigs are held on with twine.
You might also be able to pick up the three strings I have around the clearing in the back ground. Since I live in the forest, I have to deal with deer. I'm not afraid they're going to start chewing on it, but at this time of year, the bucks are shedding their headgear. They like to rub their antlers up against trees and the like, and that would be disastrous.
Anyway, I'm going to go out and keep working. Another update later!

Location: Rhode Island where there are no GW contests

I couldn't hold it in anymore. I am just so amazed at the scope of art being worked on in this thread. It is unbelievable how much creativity is being displayed by this group of artists. Hopefully, you will all enter into the official GW contest, because you all deserve a wider audience.

It's really starting to come together now. Need to get some more fabric for the cape since what I have left isn't quite wide enough. Then its boot time (didn't get around to it today) and stiffening the cheesecloth and around the neck for the cape so they stand up/out. Then the eyes/mouth part.

Really nice, I love the belt. Maybe the leaves on top of te pumpkin should be a bit smaller but besides that it's great.
Sorry for my absence all :3 Was in court in Antwerp this weekend, some trial I had to attend. Made some nice weeked out of it Will start to progress again by tuesday. I never would have thinked but I might be short in time :'( >: ( Well guess we gotta see.
Today is kind of a busy day, but I'm gunna try and squeeze in another pumpkin or two before the end of the day. I've got to work for 4~ish hours, I'm helping my dad move some cabinets from his old house before it sells, and I've got some really complex physics to do... Dx
Also, my piece got featured in someones journal for lighting on dA! I don't think that couldn't have happened without the amazing help of the workshop, so I just want to express my gratitude for everything that's been done to help me get my piece where it is today
-end sob speech- :P
@Kiya, it's looking very nice! Better than anything i could have made o.o I really like how the gloves you made transition cleanly between colours. I also really like the eye in the belt! How'd you make it?
It kind of looks like his collar is a turtle neck right now and I know you said you were working on it so I really don't have anything bad to say about it.
@Lil Thing Oohh that looks nice! I really like what you did with the spirits! My only qualm (is that how you spell it? ohwell.) is that the cauldren is infront of the moon yet it's back is getting such a bright shine. might I suggest making the cauldren darker?

@KiyaKoreena - I really love this! The costume looks really well crafted and shows a lot of worksmanship. I'd love to see a close up of the belt (though I may have missed an older post where it's shown). It looks really well made and shows a lot of attention to detail. I agree with jensyea that the leaves on top could be a bit smaller and subtler. Maybe add some wire to make them stand up a bit more. I also think that it needs a bit fuller of a collar area. Mad King Thorn has a pretty large shredded cloth collar...thing. Awesome work here!
Cape and collar haven't been started yet, that was just a single piece of the fabric as a placeholder of sorts. (Just started adding the fabric below the belt line, its all safety pinned right now as I'm working on lengths and shape.) I hope I have enough cheesecloth for around the collar.
The eye for the belt was made with polymer clay. I'll be trimming down the leaves on his head with the next progress pic with a done cape. And hopefully taken in better lighting too but can't promise that. Nap time first, I'm too old for 19.5 hour days and then waking up 5 hours later. Kids are with their grandparents today, lets see how much I can get done!
