I've decided what I'm going to write about (if I have time). And someone let me know if my idea has already been taken or is otherwise completely uncreative.
I'm going to write a short story about a little Krytan boy who goes trick-or-treating as if it were an epic tale. I plan on drawing a little something to go with it.
I put my layers together now, and included the skeleton arms.
Please note that the human figure has lineart over her (hence the weird look), and also the part of the clothes that should be white (or whatever color I'm gonna be making it [thinking of poison green, or halloween orange, what do you all think?]) is seethrough right now cuz I didn't block it in yet.
But ye, any ideas for color?
EDIT: The background is not done yet, there will be some tonal changes, highlight changes, etc.
Of course everything still looks totally put together right now, not blended. That will come later.
I might also raise the bottom of the pic a bit higher. I'm not too fond of the boots or everything being so low.
I don't like making full figure pictures too much anyways.

Moar progress.. Soon there will be cloths. Could I get some opinions/suggestions about the background? Lighter/darker, moon perhabs?
My vote is a bit lighter, just a tad bit, so only the shadows in the forest are jet black and the rest has a colour. The moon would fit the pic well... Consider drawing it "behind" the treetops?
@Minami I assume you are drawing your necro, shouldn't it have a more white skin? :>
She will.
It's still my 3D render model in there I put together in DAZ Studio for posing and shading reference.
I did the lineart already, once I'm done coloring the armor I'll start on he skin too.
Though right before that I will fix up her jewelry too. The necklace and the upper arm jewels.
I won't put the Vabbian gloves on her, since my Necro never wears it. Mine has chaos gloves, but that won't work here prolly.

@ Tommy. I think overall the picture needs to be brightened. +6 on Brightness setting made it a lot easier to view for me at least. The top of her hat completely disappears into the darkness, maybe a little bit of orange glow rim light?. I think the background should stay as un-busy (brain cant think of better word) as possible, so maybe greyish orange shadows of a forest behind the main focus? Just barely visible but so it doesn't seem so empty.
@ Minami. I think the skeleton hand on the far left (or adding another one in that area) should be cupped about to get the falling candy corns.

Ah what a neat idea. I'll put a new skeleton arm in there (or change the leftmost one) in Studio, render it, and incorporate it into the pic.
Thanks Kiya! ^_^
Anyone, any suggestions/ideas on the colored part (well, now invisible) of the armor? Like I wrote earlier, I was thinking about either poison green, or halloween orange.
I'm thinking about green (or orange) fumes around the skeleton arms, so it has to fit with each other.
Green might be nicer with the bluish overall tone.
I've been busy these days but im think im back and ready to draw >. Awesome progress from u all so far.
@Kiya that head is awesome, cant wait to see how is going to be MKT Body. And ye.. i think buying black cheese-cloth will be easier than dying it.
@Charlie: Thats a nice outfit i like that tribal necklace .
@Tommy: Nice light managing, ill suggest you to make thiner that part between the shoulder and the back, or maybe adding more shadow on that zone, to mark a difference between the shoulder and the back.
. And adding some orange glow on the grass is maybe a good idea.
@Zodiac: Its good to see that reply and ur interest on this thread!. I hope GWGuru Admins could help us to make this contest even better.
@Minami: Nice progress so far it looks really nice, Im not familiar to 3d art but maybe adding some shadow and light on the left hand instead of that black line will make the draw look even more realistic. (Just a suggestion xD i dont know how 3d works but maybe this helps). Like this:
This is my progress so far . I got tired with the face.. so i start to draw the shadows and lights of the clothes and body. It wont be a B&W Drawing, ill color it on PS after i finish to smudge the dark and light of the whole picture. If u you see any perspective or light/shadow mistake please let me know .
Coming along very nice Usk!
Thanks for the tip on the hand, I'll pay attention to that area once I start coloring and shading the skin. That shadow line there is on my 3D model which I'm only using as a reference.
Just one observation on your pic, you figure's right arm around the elbow looks a bit messy, I'm not sure how it goes. I can't really tell the difference where the waist is and is there an elbow pad? Maybe a little more shading on the back/waist would let the arm be brought forward a bit.
I like the pumpkin sketches ^_^ Good job so far on those hanging bone thingies too
Thanks minami for your observation, its a little messy atm cuz i just had smudged the left zone of the bones and the bottom of the cape, but i will define the arm soon .
Hey Ravenhawk nice pose again, I really like the gesture of the face and the way shes holding the knife and mask. I want to see ur progress .

Thanks Usk..uhm it's not a mask though ^^" Hopefully my update below makes that obvious lol
I added more details and fixed a lot of things. Also ignore the overlapping lines cos they are in different layers. She's also supposed to be leaning on something:
Well, I've begun working on the story. I don't have a preview yet, because I'm undecided on how innocent I want this story to be (I may even write two :/).
Basically, I have two ideas. One being the story of Krytan boy who goes trick or treating facing the dangers of the world in a more epically playful and innocent tale. And the other idea is of a young Ascalonian boy who kills a charr in order to have the best costume for the costume party, which is considerably more dark and twisted.
Basically, my choice would be between a boy around 5-7 trick or treating in a playful epic, or a boy around 12-13 in a dark satire.
Oh, and here are the first stages of the concept of the two of them. It should be obvious which one is which.
Mwahaha, I think I have an idea for what I want to do. Been pretty heavily busy with some design stuff the last few days (I'm designing and developing a website for my boyfriend - something where if I were asking for pay for this work, would wind up costing somewhere between $300-$500), and that work gave me a few ideas last night.
First I was thinking of doing some sort of travel brochure for Lion's Arch or Kamadan, all decorated for Halloween, and then had a different idea - a Wanted posted for Mad King Thorn.
So, I'm not 100% decided, but I'll likely go with one of those two ideas. It'd be a mix of photomanipulation and graphic design.
First attempt at shading painting the head. Not happy with it. I think I should dig out my husband's little airbrush kit from when he made models and see if I can figure out how to use it. He also suggested using the dremel to put slight creases in. Ideally I should have used yarn wrapped around it before it dried to make the creases. Ahh hindsight. I will figure out a way to make this one work! And the yellow in the one eye is painted tulle (only had white in my stash, which actually has sparkles on it but this piece was from the edge and sparkle free). Local Joanns is renovating and I couldn't find any bright yellow tulle in my 15 minute shopping spree this morning. At least even painted it is still breathable if not very flexible after drying. Need air in there!
@ Zodiac: I'd be honoured for Tzu to be a part of your story! That's just awesome! No matter how minor a character it would be fun for me to read. ^^
@ Charlie: actually, I'm not sure if I'll be online this halloween. I'm usually at a convention abroad for a weekend/week that time of year, depends whether I want to go or not (I haven't decided yet, yay <__>). Regardless, GW-en have mentioned they might do the party this year for us, I havent heard any news from them lately. We will see when the date draws closer I suppose.
@ Minami: I think I accidentally wiped them from my disks when I got a new computer this spring. I'll have to check the back-ups, but I have a tendency to kill most of the stuff that isn't absolutely essential every time I do a complete reboot or whatever it's called. :/ I'm really sorry if I did.
Thanks so much for the bow tut, Arghore, I really appreciate it.
