Liking your WIP, are you gonna add more detail to his body? The pose is nice and sure fits the character!

Yeah, that's kind of the impression I got was that you were just blocking your character in before going back and detailing her.
And yeah, definitely going to go back and add more detail, I think I'm at that point though where I need to develop the rest of the image so I know what the context is in the picture, not just my mind.

Yessir! That's how I draw many things, I first draw them with about 80% of the detail and then finish the picture and add the rest of the details.
Keep it up everyone!

Just one question that oftenly pops up, and does so again!
How do they go from black and white to colour? I mean, they first go colour it in black and white in full detail just to paint over it again? And they look so similar! Is there some sort of way to put a layer on the black and white to make it coloured?
|
yw.
Is this what you were thinking of Tommy?

@Stouda, you can also do it the other way around ...
I colored and shaded a couple of Action Jack's art works, which he posted on gw2guru... This example is one he had allready colored
original AJ art
to which i added 3 layers of shading in different oppasity (black), and 2 layers of highlights in different oppasity (white)
step 1, shading & highlights
After these steps i used the 'magic wand' to sellect everything BUT the figure, added a new layer, and painted a background. Then in some additional layers i added some details ... which made the final piece..
stop 2, end result
(note. im not to fond about the highlights, a bit to white at some points, seeing i put these in another layer, i can easily change them if i want )

Waiting is so hard to doooooo......
I was distracted with other things and only got plushie's gauntlets done last night. And I gave up and bought some black cheesecloth tablecloths instead of messing with dying again. Just going to have to alter my plan a bit. At least these are wider than the other source!
I wish I had a mannequin so I didn't have to keep bugging my husband to try things on, he is going to get so annoyed at me soon. Was thinking of making a rag stuffed body but I would have the not standing problem still.

That's a huge head! o.0 Very nice work! It's a shame they don't make funkins that are that size...

Kiya, I think Tzu posted something last wintersday contest about how to make a stuffed figure. Can't find the link though. I dunno if it would be of any use for you in this situation.

All righty, worked on the clothes today.
I rendered my scene, imported in to photoshop and just started drawing the armor.
I decided I will try and make my own main char, the necro Minami.
This drawing is simply a very crappy outline of the armor on her, no shading or anything at all.
I might still change the clothes, depending on how difficult it will be to draw the armor nicely.
Of course I took out the skeleton arms for now, to make everything easier.
Yes, I know the left shoulder piece is wonky. And the torso middle line too. :P
Wow it looks so weird for me, 3D and 2D combined here... ^_^
I steal the spoil button!

Had to look up what the puppet warp tool was (I only have Photoshop Elements 5.0 ) and - Oh my lord - I want your photoshop! o.0
Very nice work on the clothing art as well.

Oh ya.... I mean... instead of having to redraw that shoulder piece, I just warp it into place by putting down a few joint points. Ridiculous, lol.
Not that it would've taken long to redraw it, I just wanted to use the PW tool
Doing the lineart for my char now, then I can finally start to color and see if I can do it at all. ^_^
This is the second time ever I do lineart and coloring digitally (and on a more serious piece, not just doodles and frustrated lines *lol*). ^_^ We'll see how it all turns out

Finally had some time to actually sit down and think my idea through. Gonna' be going down a different path this time around from my usual ways. I'll still be using the idea of the Shining reference of the two kids along with King Thorn. But I'll be styling it in the way of old movie posters from the 70's/Grindhouse vibe that Quentin Tarantino is so fond of.
Anyways, no real big steps in progress yet. Just designed the outfit for what one of the kids will be wearing. Much bigger focus on the clothing design rather than face at the moment, but the basic idea is there. I made the other kid a Norn, but I wasn't too fond of the outcome. Think I'll just keep both kids as Elonian to keep to the theme of the matching twins - though it'll probably be a boy/girl combo rather than girl/girl.
And how the heck are you guys doing that littler Spoiler trick?
EDIT: I'll try to get to helping out with critiques later on. It's 1 a.m. and I've got class in a few hours - meeeeeeeeeeeeh

Looking great charlie! And the spoiler thing... just type [*spoil] and [*/spoil], just without the stars. Or just quote someone who used a spoiler and you can see it
I really like the cheeks and the mouth of the little man, please stick to it <3 ^^
Edit: sorry its spoil, not spoiler, Koreena is right :3

[ SPOIL] and [/SPOIL]
No progress yesterday and still waiting for MKT head to dry. Instead I finished up some dragons and jewelry. I'm glad we still have a few weeks to go. Yay procrastination!

Charlie, the face of the boy looks so cool! It just has something in it that makes him look more real than a polished symmetrical face would have. Great start!
Kiya, I'm happy too that we have all that time left too
I really need it too cause I keep making these stupid mistakes in photoshop, plus I don't know all the keyboard shortcuts yet so I'm clicking everywhere all the time. >_<
Word of advice to those who try to paint in photoshop for the first time ever... Do NOT start coloring the ambient color first
Anyway, here's my progress after working on it most of yesterday (it takes so long for me )
