@Minami
I can't believe your's didn't win o.O
Like many people i've gone through pics and thought, wtf is that there for?
I mean , I find the first place one absolutely horrid o.O Even though it probably took ages
I honestly think yours is the best of them all, here and there
@EasternMagik:
Congrats on winning Knew you'd get there
@Koreena:
Haha do i even need to say it?
Gz for the 7th time running lol Good job!
@Tommy:
:/ I agree with aeronwen
I think your piece was epic, but sometimes its just not what they're looking for
I once entered a rl writing contest with a 700 word poem which i spent hours making
And i didn't even get in the top 10 :/ For the english section, they only really liked the writing pieces , so i know how you feel
Woulda been awesome if you got a tonic All year roundw orkshop? <3
@Zidane: Man yours is so well done, and it has the LOLS in it too >.< I can't believe its not there
22nd should hopefully be an ok date for me, provided that the hours are not too early :S
Oh and i have a really awesomle but slightly gruesom idea for next wintersday even though i'm betting there'll be no GW1 workshop as GW2 should be out by then i think :/ And i won't be able to get it from this country >.<

Maybe arenanet doesn't want too many skilful winners, maybe it'll make their concept artists look bad? ;P

Grats to all the winners, though I honestly think more of you should've placed. It's not worth dwelling on though. I'm looking forward to concluding the workshop judging so that more of you can be rightfully awarded for your efforts this year.
Now's as good a time as any to say; I think this will be my last workshop for GW1. It's getting harder and harder to set aside time, as evident by my lack of contribution and presence this year, and I don't think it will get any easier for some time. The Workshop as a GWG phenomenon is up for grabs, if anyone wants to host and organise future workshops here you can use my icons, code and award-scheme. Just PM me and I'll send it to you.
I might start the workshops up again for GW2 @ GW2G next year or the year after, but I make no solid promise of it. I hope everyone enjoyed the run so far, and that someone wants to carry on the tradition.

Welcome back Tzu, hope you had a good holiday
Its sad news that you won't have time for more workshops, its a busy time of life though, is this your final year of college?
I am sure some noble soul will step up.

As I have talked to you about this in MSN Tzu, I'll be more than happy to take over the workshop. If everyone liked the way me and Perynne ran it this time, that is
If GW2 comes out in the meantime, I'll be moving over to run the Workshop there, in the GW2Guru forums.
Like I have said before, I am done entering GW(1) contests, unless something radically changes in the way the contests are run (all the things outlined in Kiya's email, to those of you who know), which I highly doubt that it would happen.
If I have some GW related piece that I made for someone else or it has been lying around for a while, I might enter it, but I won't make anything specific for GW1 contests anymore.
Everyone, thank you all very much for the kind words.
It means a lot to me.
It seems to me that every year I enter, people in the workshop seem to like my entries so much, and get angry when I don't place in the official contest.
Again, thanks for all the support you guys, see you at the party, and hopefully see you all at the next contest! Remember, the workshop will be here, waiting for you guys and your awesome art! ^_^

Honestly, I was seriously surprised that Minami didn't win anything either. I went through all of them when I first saw they announced the winners going "but where the hell is Minami's entry?"
A lot of the honorable mentions I was a bit "...>.>" about, really. I saw a lot better from this workshop. Hell, I figured that between entries like Tommy's and Minami's and Pery's and Zidane's and Magik's, I stood no chance whatsoever.
Tzu! Aww, that's sad. I will definitely pitch in to help Minami and Perynne with the workshops, assuming they want to continue them, though.
(also...grumble grumble...scanned and emailed my form yesterday and got a "this couldn't be sent" message this morning, wtf)

Thanks I'm in my second semester of a new uni degree, and I work on the side. With strange uni hours (0800-1900, 1800-2100 and the like) combined with squeezing in work time whenever I can it gets pretty hectic. Some days I have no time to set aside at all, others I'm just so absolutely defeated when I come home I just don't have the energy for anything. *_* I've talked to a study councillor thing though, supposedly she can help me manage my workload. We shall see. :P
Looks like Minami will be the host of future GW1 workshops, awesomeness.
I don't know if I'll be able to participate, but I will probably lurk around and watch the shiny arties anyway.

Tzu said she might be back for GW2 workshops, so I told her I'd be happy to partner with her Easier to manage everything when you're not just going at it alone
I'd imagine once GW2 is out, the GW1 workshops will stop. I don't see many of you wanting to stick with 5 years old GW1 things when there's a whole entire new game with new stuffs in it to do artsy things about Right? ^_^
I do cross my fingers for GW2 to come out already, for several reasons

Music + Pic video definitely wasn't worth 80+ hours then (drawing multiple pictures and getting multiple instruments under the belt takes a lot of time). Time and effort down the drain...

Congrats to everyone out there!
But in my oppinion, how much time you spent on something shouldn't matter. It's about you coming up with something new/refreshing etc.

Apparently performing 3 instrument plus singing wasn't new enough for them.
It's hard because I'm not even sure if they actually watched the whole video and listened to what I had to offer (or if they even noticed my submission), and not just glance at the thumbnail. Not seeing any music submissions make the list really made me doubt if they even considered music for mentioning at all.

Congrats to those that placed!
Unfortunately I dont think more than 3 of the winners other than the guru peeps really even made me think "wow thats cool and different they definately deserved it." lol with as poor as my drawing was, really makes me mad I didnt enter, I could have won!
But there really is no point in dwelling on it. I'm sure they review countless submissions, and if it wasnt what they were looking for then it wasnt what they were looking for. Cant win em all.
Tzu I'm sad you'll not be hosting any more workshops, but I think Pery and Minami did a great job in your place.
Yes, rumors are rumors, but I've been seeing a lot of "preorders" for GW2 around the end of December. So maybe a GW2 themed wintersday would be neat for this years. Hopefully by then we'll have some more videos/artwork to go off of. Maybe even a beta

I've had GW2 preordered for a year and a half (since the day we started taking reserves on it at work) really doesn't mean anything. Certainly hope it comes out this year though!
Also, good god, I'm hiding offline while playing GW for a bit, I think >.>

oh i know its been on preorder for a long time, but seeing as they're actually showing progress now i would tend to believe a preorder a bit more after seeing it as opposed to a year ago when they werent really releasing anything about the game. but i'm not getting my hopes up for anything. as anet likes to say..."it'll be done when its done" -.-'

They stole that line from Blizzard.
@Satomz; I haven't checked out your entry I think. But I don't know if they accept music, don't think I ever saw one before too.

Congrats to all the winners! I also agree that more of you definitely should have placed. Frankly, I'm quite surprised Mina's costume wasn't rewarded at least an HM.
In any case, nice work all around.
@Tzu: That's a bummer to hear. Though we hope you do manage to swing by these parts every so often.
