So, as a spur of the moment I started on a new pic yesterday and have been streaming the drawing process all day (~7h). And I've come decide (with Infested Hydralisk as my motivator) to submit this as my official entry.

Alright, so I've finished everything but the background/foreground landscaping stuff. Right now, it's not exactly possible material-wise to use magazines for this. I just dont have large enough samples to draw colours from in order to keep it consistent. So I've got two ideas, and I'll see which I like the best after they're finished (they are both reasonably easy to do).
a) Take the photo and paint/manipulate the background into the picture.
b) Use actual paint (but it'll have to be cheap dollar store paint ^^) on the bristol board for a nice mixed media effect. I want to use watercolour because it's light and will give a good contrast, but I want to also just use regular paints because they give a more vibrant and strong colour. Suggestions?

*pops out of nowhere* Just wanted to say that the entries so far look amazing! Sorry for being quiet >_<
@Perynne - hope you feel better. One critique I can probably give (and it's not a big thing) is that the snow cloud seemed to be giving the feeling of blank space. Maybe it's just me but it feels like something more need to be added there. But like I said, no biggie your entry looks amazing as it is. I love the concept too!

Daily WIP post
Good news and bad news, mainly for me. Good news is, other than some details like shading, all the visuals I have left to do is coloring in Kieran and Gwen's flute on one of the other pages. Bad news is, my trusty 6 year old Graphire 3 suddenly lost some sensitivity. I hope it won't interfere, but I might have to go look for a replacement (it's most likely the pen that's having issues, but I don't know if there are any replacement pens around anymore).

@Gemini JuSa: Oooh, that's a brilliant idea! XD So, the winner gets a year's worth of shoulder massages? Poor Grenth. Dwayna's expression is priceless too.
@Kiya: Added you to the list, sorry about not doing it before.
@Death By An Arrow: I think watercolour might work better. Stronger, more vibrant paints might take too much attention away from your paper characters. I think you'd want to draw as much attention to the bears and the paper parts as you can, and just let the background be something less detailed.
@Raven: My sister said the same thing about the snow cloud being too distracting, so I guess I'll be fixing it later today. :3 Thanks for the comment!
@satomz: I hope you manage to finish your drawings. They look awesome so far. Having a tablet or pen break in the middle of drawing is a pain, happened to me once too when I was doing some freelance work with a tight deadline. Good luck!

Perynne that picture is amazing, i love that everyone is smiling, but all of their smiles are so different, i especially like kid holding snowball hehe ^^ and the one making snowman
Minami, i know i already wrote this a couple of times, but those tattoos are simply stunning O______O and awesome job on photo-manipulation, if i didn't knew, i would say you took those photos outside
Gemini i love both of your entries And this one is just too good
And since we need to make an official post about the finished entry (i didn't knew about this or i would make it sooner :3 )

@Perynne Yeah, thats what I thought as well. The last time I did a collage piece I did a wash background and it turned out pretty well.
I'm going to take a photo of it before paint so I can try a photoshop edition as well but with the watercolour paints I should be finished today

I think I have a simple idea that I can do quickly. I'm going to photomanip images of Grenth and Dwayna together into a sort of stained-glass window type thing, with snow falling around it and it appearing to be lit from the inside by candles. If I can get it done, it should look neat

Thanks! Time constraints mean I have to turn to Photoshop filters though XD I generally avoid using them.
Also yay for giant blankets
Quick progress so far -
Cutting out Dwayna and Grenth and laying them out:
Filtering them and adding in a background for the stained glass:
Now to dig my tablet out from under the pile of books on my desk so I can draw in the 'lead' lines for the stained glass.

It's this late into the workshop and now I have an idea for a small-scale entry. Better start drawing, it seems. Even if I won't post an entry, I'll probably pop up at the party... If I'm accepted in, of course. I believe in your hearts of pure gold

I'm done with recording! Yay! While I go finish up the pictures, I'm presenting you the youtube link to the video with only one picture and full audio.
I'll need lots of help here, since this is pretty much the first time I'm presenting a movie, let alone a recording.
I need to know:
1. if the video plays at all
2. if the volume is right (I think it might be a little too soft, but I want confirmation)
3. if the one picture that shows up looks ok, in terms of things like aspect ratio and pixelation
4. I also need to know what file extension I'm supposed to be using for movies. I used wmv for the current one, but I wasn't sure if that was what I was supposed to use.
Any other comments are welcome.

The video plays, the volume seems okay (may be a bit soft but it's definitely audible), and the image quality looks fine to me!
Here's a bit more progress, before Photoshop started lagging on me and I took a break to go throw snowballs and get some gifts in-game...
Background outlined, window shape created, started outlining Dwayna.
Grenth outlined, bit more work on Dwayna.

Yup, that is definitely my intention with it
Outlining done.
Added in some more outlines to connect all of the pieces together; added a glass texture as well as a blurred overlay (soft light, something like 50%) of the original images of Grenth and Dwayna to bring back some of the color/detail.
Photoshop is hating me, so I think that's all for today.

@Gemini: EPIC! Really it's awesome <3 i love the look on dwayna's face
@Verene: Wow i wish i had a window like that...it looks amazing
@Perynne: Hahaha
Being in africa, i wish your drawing WOULD come to life >.>
@Satomz: Ooh i love it, but i d on't really see where it's heading...
@Death: OOOOH It's awesome! <3 Good luck with bg
@Hairnet: LOL I love it! Haha
It took some scrutinizing + reading to get who was who but it's amazing <3!
Okay then , if you ask me this is a total and epic PHAIL...especially bg, shading, colouring...drawing...ok it's just a phail
But i learnt loads, and considering this is my first real try at digital art, I'm happy
I must've crunched through like...50 tutorials...and used 3 :P
It could use alot of work, cleaning up and stuff, but i don't have the time anymore
Plus i just noticed that Dwayna doesn't have a belly button...bleh, who said gods needed umbilical cords anyway?

Finally it's finished. I couldn't get the photo quality anybetter, but I think it's decent enough. I can finally recycle all the magazine sheets in my room; theres atleast 50 just scattered everywhere q.q
Too bad I can't paint at all. LOL
It's possibly my worst artistic ability.
Submitted to ANet as well; feels good to be done
@FlyingNinjaMonk Don't get so down on your art! It's actually very nice I like the added decoration to the piece as well; I think it adds a nice touch of the holidays
I also really like the detail in her armor. The proportions all feel right/appropriate, which is something I personally can't do very well with people Dx

Nice entries everyone and good luck!
And actually, looking down on your art is a good thing. It will make you think what you should improve next time. That way you will get much better. (But stay positive!)
