Don't worry!
Think about it... you're the ONLY (and the first) one who's picture fits the new theme to the tee! ^_^
I'd take this as being awesome

Dont think of it as they stole your idea. Think of it as you're just as creative as anet?
|
Wrooong...Anet's as creative as Nemesis
Maybe they saw your pic and went all "OMGZGOOGLYEYESWAAAOOOO!" (Translated to: Oooh really awesome, let's steal it!)
I'm pretty sure the judges won't use it against you but maybe you might not be able to enter the official wintersday...i mean, people like Perynne have been with you since you did the first sketch of your drawing so i bet she can vouch for you ;D
Wooh!
Ok i was working on a canvas 144 cm high but i resized it to 30 cm...i think...
But there's my dwayna lineart! In her left hand is the end of the sack she'll be holding...please tell me if i did arms right! I want to re do torso designs, especially breasts, but we'll see
Now i need to catch up on gw quests
One sec...uploading it >.> I accidently posted comment before it was done...

My sister painting the tattoos on me.
My mom was painting my other arm
It took from 2 PM til 5 PM to paint it all on me. Staying still for that long... not as easy as it sounds ^_^
EDIT: I'll probably start posting the done pictures tomorrow, one by one, day by day

@Nemesis: Hehe, your brilliance has just been recognized by Anet. I still like your idea better - they only did costumes (and well, I wouldn't have known it was a Melandru costume if they hadn't called it that), while yours was definitely more festive and funny.
I'm sure that the current development will have nothing to do with the judging. You had the idea first, and yours is better thought out anyway.
@NinjaMonk: Her arms look really nice, I don't see anything wrong with them. I think you could perhaps make the swirly designs on her torso a little simpler, right now they grab quite a lot of attention away from the rest of the armor (and not just because they're on her breasts).
@Minami: Your progress photos are lovely. I really can't wait to see the finished armor in action. I loooove rit armor, and I think they always make for the most interesting cosplay.
@Tommy's: ..... ..... .... nope, nothing to say that I didn't say before. XD I can't even pretend to be helpful to you here since I say everything on Messenger anyway. But yeah, the idea of having the reds more vibrant like in the first version, seems like I wasn't the only one who thought it was a good idea.

@MInami: Lmao
I swear if that was me...3 hours without eating, drinking...Couldn't even go toilet :S
Looks really epic....i can't wait to see final pic! Could you by any chance tell how many pics there are? Oh and - if you don't mind - what's gonna be the final pose?
Did you have to walk around with tatoos for a week or what? O.O i wouldn't walk out the house painted black...
@Perynne: Thanks! <3 and yes, that was the idea I may leave the upper torso, but totally change the design of the breasts. I mean, its fun trying to make something similar to what Anet made (Even if it looks nowhere alike)...but for the sake o my pic i'll redo it...any ideas?

Well, if all goes well, there should be 6 pictures total. We took 133 pictures of me posing, out of those about 10 look really really good & usable.
As for final pose, I don't know yet which one I'll post last yet In the end, it will all be compiled into one picture, so Anet can see all the poses.
We also made a video, where I did most of the ritualist emotes (thanks Kiya for the idea with your Halloween entry ^_^), and me playing with my flow wand. After I edit that footage, I might post it.
There was one LOL moment in the video, where I did the jump emote. The headdress jewels almost fell off my head, and you can see in the corner of the video, that my sister is so into the emotes that she's jumping too.
The tattoos were painted on me using kids body paint. After we were done, I jumped in the shower and scrubbed it all off.

Well, maybe try to use the same kind of patterns on Dwayna's torso as she has on her skirt. Also, her right breast (the viewer's right), is sticking out a little too much perhaps, so you might want to bring it inward and make it more of a rounder shape.
Otherwise it's looking good!

Hehe I did not do the dance I might've been able to, but when we took the pics and the video, I had a horribly inflamed hip joint in my right side, and I had a tough time even just walking. Too much walking/exercise...
And ye, kids body paint The only thing available at Walmart
We would've loved to take more pics, but by the time the body painting finished at 5 PM, there was only an hour or two sunlight left and my mom and sister left to fly home the next day. So we had a very limited time.
As it was, we completed the costume from scratch, the body paint and pictures plus videos in 4-5 days.
I'm editing a couple of pictures now, and started a 3D staff render... we'll see if I can put it into any of the pics...
Oh and by the way, your Dwayna lineart looks very good! I agree with Perynne about the right breast, but other than that, it looks fabulous! ^_^ Good job!

@Minami: Thanks! <3 i appreciate the comment *showers in praise, pulls out some Happiness soap to clean away Unconfidence*
Yes i'm aware that was a very lame pun just there, if anyone gets it at all >.>
I can't believe you did that in 5 days Must have been a great way to spend time with your family, it sounds so cosy <3
Good luck with the staff render! If all fails, you could maybe do a wand/focus render or even use staff render and have it hanging off belt or something, perhaps bathed in a mystical green glow while floating above the hands abit
Ouch, inflamed hip joint i hope that got better
Well, i hope you win and even if you don't win the official i'd bet my left nut you'll win something here
Edit: I may play around with effects after colouring and give Dwayna chaos gloves :P Good or bad idea? =o

It was a lot of fun making that costume, and that's what counts to me
I am super partial to chaos gloves, they were the first big purchase I made in GW (I remember screaming in guild chat, saying something like "OMG I JUST SPENT ALL THOSE ECTOS O_O"), so I ALWAYS think Chaos Gloves are a good idea

I love chaos gloves too, but I think it might be going a little overboard. They aren't very Wintersday-ish and don't really tie in with Dwayna (why would she have chaos gloves? She's a god, she could always make herself entirely chaos energy!) so I think that unless there's a really good reason for them to be there, don't add them.

Ok so a bit more progress. I'm not sure yet about the whole border thing. Thought it might add some storybook feel to it, but perhabs its an overkill and makes the image even bigger >.> What do you think?

@ Tommy. I think it looks neat, but the phrase is kind of awkward.
