YAY! I've been so looking forward to this this thread and seeing all the WiPs again
Name: Thistle Xandra
Idea for entry: continuation of halloween story (I never did hear back from Regina about literature being accepted into the contest, so I'm also going to draw pictures in the story and then submit one of those probably)
genre of art: literature with pictures
This is what I had posted a while back on my blog after the Halloween contest was over:
"As for Bix, well, if everything goes well and my muse is still interested, she’ll be the focus of my Wintersday story. Everyone knows that Bix is very, very studious, but they don’t know much about where she comes from. On Wintersday, Bix gets a visit from her very gorgeous and popular older sister, who happens to be very, very passive-aggressive when it comes to Bix. You know, the kind of person who smiles warmly with daggers in their eyes as they compliment you with, “You look so fascinating in that dress! Not everyone would be so brave going out in public is such an old outfit.” Luckily for Bix, she has the twins and Ki on her side in the annual Wintersday snowball fight when it’s Team Grenth led by Bix versus Team Dwayna led by her sister. This story will be much shorter and not as in-depth as “The Making of Heroes.”"
There's nothing on it right now and probably won't be until mid-December once the quarter starts winding down, but this will be the link for the final story: http://thistlexandra.wordpress.com/g...-contest-2010/
with any WiPs under the category "GW Guru Wintersday Contest."
YAY! I'm so excited for this

Welcome, satomz. Glad to see you here too. I still remember you from the Wintersday calendar from a couple years back.
@Minami: Motion blur is very tricky to correct. If it's really, really blurred there isn't much you can do. But if it's blurred only slightly, you could try sharpening it through a filter. Or manually try to paint out the blurry parts in the most noticeable places. That's about all I can think of for fixing it. :/

@ Minami: I have no experience with this program, but you might want to try it out (though you probably had found it yourself aswell ) http://www.focusmagic.com/examplemotionblur.htm (also to be found here: http://www.ehow.com/how_5833889_fix-...al-photos.html)
But you can also try to use it to your advantage. I don't know what you want to use it for (reference, photomanupilation, render, etc), but somethimes motion blur can have a charming effect (when the dose is right ofcourse). Just like vintage denim jeans can have their charms

Get some talent. I intend to re-improve my art skills by next Halloween. This spring/summer sound like perfect times. Maybe I'll take an art class next Fall.
Currently unsure if I'll participate for this workshop with literature. Rather busy this month, that's for sure (Damn October and November, damn them good). No clue for a story idea either...
BTW, why is Literature always separate? Not complaining, but rather curious. Couldn't the works be equally placing for the other categories, with one less category the other prizes would be higher? Unless that's just a way to ensure writers get something since there's so many artists...
Would donate, but I'm already saving up for MantleCon, and we got a huge prize goal this year. ^^

Why wait? It's always best to just do something small every now and then, instead of putting things off until later. Start sketching on paper, doing small things if you're short on time. Every little sketch helps on the long run, even if improvement doesn't show up right away.
@Charlie: Awww. :/ Good luck with the self portrait!

I lack having the time. I got so many side projects, and school stuff, that I'm suffering by not prying myself from TK stuff and the occasional quick glance through the Gurus and GuildMag forums and the two wikis. At the very earliest, I'll be having the time to do quick sketches at the end of this semester (early-mid December).
