Oh yes, thatll be added in; its just going in last. The frills are best saved for last (in my opinion) because they appear of top of the rest of his stuff. i.e. if I do the frills before detailing the face, I have to go around all the frills. With the frills last, I can just paint as i please.
But i suppose I..erm...forgot the cape >.> I'll draw that in before work!
Last update before work; the majority of MKT is finished. Shoulder is still massively unproportional, but I think a combo of frill + painting over with some sky will slim it a bit. Wont be perfect, but itll help.
Heres what i sketched for the cape. Like/Dislike? Im weary of this sketch because then MKT loses his sillhouted shape against the sky, and that would not be good.
Things left;
Collar Frill, Cape, Mountain Cliffside, Moon, Clouds, Sky.
Maybe you can have the wind blowing in the other direction so that the shoulder looks as if it's part of his cape in the wind.
Forgive my terrible MSpaint skills
Small & quick update. I managed to finish the pumpkinheads yesterday & took them outside for their photo ops before turning them in to pie & cheesecake filling. I have lots of Photoshopping yet to do but here's a sneak peak at what's in the works!
Well i am totally zapped and drained of energy mainly due to Eir, she has an incredible intrigate armor and what not, very straining on concentration, and unfortunatly it's not entirely ready, but for now i must take a break or i will realy mess things up...

Very much a work in progress, the idea I got as soon as the contest was announced, but only now managed to get started. I hope I have enough time to finish to enter the official contest too!
Looking very good so far! I hope everyone will be done in time.
I'm currently up with this:
The pic is done, but it's not the image I was intending to use as an official pic. But I made it just in case I can't finish what I had planned. Same setting, same theme, different pose, yet still viewed from above.
I'm still thinking about how to utilize all the CC I've gotten on the pose sketches and I'm trying to apply them to the image, it's not going my way though.. >_>
stoudathat looks so good q-q and its only your fifth painting, sheesh. look forward to the final product.
odinius - hmmm... that could work. I'm worried that side of the painting will be too heavy with the cape taking up that much space, but It certainly does help it look more... proportional for his body.
obastable - bahah, those are so awesome. cant wait to see what happens.
arghore - I like the use of the different colours The characters seem to be a little bright though; perhaps a small fire in the firepit would make that work?
gemini - that looks quite good If you don't finish your intended piece, I think this is a good official entry as well. Plus, you have time for the workshops ending too. So you can submit both to the workshop anyways

yeah it still needs some work, after all 5 are in and the background is all set, there will be a pass of shades and highlights, which is supposed to fix them popping out so much, or rather, it will make sense when the fire is lit and the highlights and shades are added ... one thing i noticed though, Eir's leggs seem to short ... or is that just me ?
this is what I'm thinking now for the cape. I tried a few different ideas in the other direction, but they all felt a little off to me. I feel like this one has good movement, and if I can paint a little bit on the shoulder it will look like it hooks on the shoulder/is caught on it. With it extending that far over, it can even get a little light reflection from the moon.
Well, I had considered re-setting for another shoot tonight, adding some pumpkins, but when I discovered we might be killing birds with this display, I took it down...
Notice the hand is stripped clean...
We saw the birds eating when we got home, and thought it was funny, so grabbed the camera when one didn't fly off. Thought it might be after some stray corn, or seeds from that grass...
No, IT"S EATING MY CORPSE!
In addition to the hand, most the leg is gone.
I'm not an expert, but latex rubber, paper towels, and oil based stains can't be good for birds. I'm BAFFLED, having never seen this kind of behavior before, even mice have left this mixture alone in the past.
Project killed, I'll go with the pics we have.

maybe your sculptures are SO realistic, they think its an actual rotting corpse (you know... like the rest of your neighbour hood) and have deemed it carrion. Then took on their role as scavanger/decomposer and decided to... wait those arent vultures.
Maybe you've just created a flock of flesh eating birds. Watch the skies when you leave your house.
@Unorthodox: That.... is just.... too cool!! O_O
I mean poor birds, they shouldn't eat crap, but why do they eat it if it doesn't taste like bird food? D: O_o
But they sure managed to make it have that extra macabre touch xD
ANNNNNDDD the moon is in. I really like it. It came out better than I expected. Im starting to feel like I may, infact, actually finish this painting tomorrow. I know its hard to see (its currently midnight and our living room has horrible lighting) but It'll be better for the submission. Getting the picture for submission might be a little tricky. Why?
o) if i finish it tomorrow it will likely be night when I'm done.
o) I work until the deadline (excluding tomorrow, national turkey day for us canadians) and due to certain circumstances wont be able to take pictures of my painting tuesday.
o) wednesday and thursday its going to rain a lot, and I was hoping to go outside to get the best natural lighting. Also if it rains, it likely wont be very sunny out.
So heres where you guys come in: suggestions? I would prefer natural light to artificial because it doesnt have a tint of colour to it, essentially. I could edit the levels in photoshop but thats just extra work Plus, natural lighting is more even.
It really is quite unfortunate timing for all this, I sincerely wish the official deadline was a week later like usual. :/ Work + paint = not friends.
Also, more assistance needed (I have a feeling Konig will be of great assistance for this): Since the idea is the Countess of Hakewood essentially summoning MKT from... where is he again? The under world? Some far off place? I ask because I want to know how to paint the cliff; would this event take place somewhere that is barren and just rock, or would it be covered in grass? A little grass? And (marsh, we know your answer) would those bright green glowing fungi be present there? I dont know enough about the lore to be certain. Its one of the last things on the list to get down, so I'd like the help
Checklist: Cliff, MKT Head details (in the same veign as the moon), clouds, sky, cape.
