2011 Halloween Workshop!
WORKSHOP IS OPEN!
The Grand Goal of this Workshop is to allow new artists to jump out of the shadows, to learn to give and receive Contructive Criticism,
to enhance the Community Feeling by making a collaborated effort to get a Guru Member amongst the Winners,
and most of all; have a great deal of FUN in the process.
This thread is not going to be focused on winning the Halloween Contest alone.
The Halloween Contest is our superficial carrot, something people will strive for if the goal of progress and growth isn't enough at first.
The most significant purpose of this thread will be to see people make an effort, and to see them grow by doing so.
The Guru Halloween Contest Prizes will aid this cause.
The Deadline for submissions is October 22th, 2011.
There will be 3 stages to this Workshop:
- - We all strive to create a Guild Wars Halloween masterpiece of our own, and help others create theirs.
- - Final feedback given, those who wish to do so will enter the official contest before the deadline has expired.
- - We hand out Guru prizes independent of the official results, chat a bit and discuss whether we wish to have a Wintersday Workshop as well.
These prizes will be based on donations from everyone who wants to and are able to aid the cause.
Any donation is accepted, from Red Iris Flowers to Ectoplasm.
A panel of judges will be set up eventually, but some Awards will be based on polls too, to include popular opinion.

Phew! Tzu replied to my PM about the workshop and said that she would not have time to do so, and I've yet to hear from Minami and Perynne, so I decided to get the ball rolling.
I've already set aside a bunch of stuff for prizes, I just need to decide how I'm going to split up what I've put in for different things.
Please don't start posting entries or anything yet! I want to wait a few days before that. Discussion is fine, though, and if you're interested in judging or donating or helping in any other way, then please do let me know!
Oh, and if this could get stickied, that would be amazing

That would be excellent ^^ I have a fairly substantial amount of stuff/money set aside for this, but as ever, more goodies is always helpful.

yay workshops! XD
I'm not sure I'm doing anything for the official contest this year (I don't agree with a lot of the judging over the last couple of years, for one, quite apart from busy), but I'll definitely hang around for c&c and stuff

So, I think I'm doing good on judges XD Thank you, everyone! Morag, I added you to the list
I don't know if I'm going to be entering the contest this year either; I might, I might not. Depends on how my time's looking when we get closer.
Thank you, Aero, that will be a great help

I'll probably not do anything till about three days before the deadline then, apparently at random, have an idea and spend a few hours on it.
[Obligatory good luck to everybody written in a witty and memorable fashion.]

I've never participated in the past workshops but I have time I'll see what I can do.
Gives me a chance to work on my painting since that's the only style I draw that isn't very difficult to go back and revise at later stages.

Hello everyone.
I suspect no one here knows me.
I haven't played GW in years.
I am not currently planning on entering this contest myself...
Heck, I was surprised to see I had an account. So, why am I here?
Out of a bit of nostalgia, I was googling to see if there was any update on the GW Halloween contest for 2011, and this came up. So, well, I'm here to help any way I can, for I'm always up for helping people create Halloween art.
I'm one of those crazy people who take Halloween way too far and turn their house into a haunt. Heck, I even have a few professional haunted house designs (floor plan/storyline) under my belt.
Oh yeah, I was a "winner" of the GW Halloween art contest back in 2009. ("Cole G.", that's me...)
It wasn't exactly my best work, and was rushed together for the deadline, shot with a camera on it's last legs, and improved after entry. It's now sitting in a local professional haunt.
If you're interested in my more recent work, you can toddle over to my website: http://anunorthodoxhalloween.com
But, they could best be summed up as this style:
(both works in progress shot with a simple point and shoot)
If you think I can be of assistance, let me know (I'm subscribed here now) or contact me at SirUlias as my gmail address.
I'm not sure what random loot my account may have, I was never 'rich', but if you're in need of something I'll happily donate what I have.

Hey y'all
I'd be happy to volunteer to be a judge.
Unfortunately I won't be able to help with the workshop this year like I thought I would, but I'd love to be a judge and visit here whenever I can to provide critique.
I also won't be entering or making anything this time around.
Good luck guys, I look forward to see all the super awesome arts you create!!
EDIT: Oh and agreeing with Morag there :P
EDIT2: I'll be back to help with and enter the GW2 workshops though... Look out
