just found out i didnt save the copy with the bowtie -.-
new bowtie looks really bad Dx
i tried fiddling with the arms, and the forward one looks decent enough.
The back one is still... a little better. At this point i just want this piece to end.. :/

So i finally got around to finishing my painting for Mina's workshop ^^
Clicky Click.
Some good, some bad, a lot of things learned in the process ^^
primarily; i need to try out different painting styles to see what I'm most comfortable with. Right now I don't like the style of "Just go with what you think will work first" and will probably look around at how other people paint and adapt from there.
Also i should do more smaller scale projects instead of a few bigger scale ones.
96 PPI is also a terrible setting to paint on.. :x

I like the painting and I commented
I know how you feel about trying out different styles. I was exactly the same way (still am but not as much) , following so many tutorials that I can't remember all of them anymore lol. Eventually I am able to combine/create my own method that I am comfortable with...still subject to change of course
Good luck with the workshop!

Very nice. And yes, finding a comfortable painting style will also help to draw better - if you're feeling good about the way you handle colours and lines, your technique will also flow easier. Doing smaller projects will help you focus on one area at a time, instead of going all over the place and trying too much at once.
Good luck with the workshop. I like your entry!

Thank you both for the nice comments ^^
I do know the general concepts of colour (colour wheel order/complementary/earthtones/etc.) but because for the majority of my art-doings I've done pencil works I've never really learned the best ways to apply them Dx I'm all about value, tones, and shading
So its good to know some directions I need to work on.
In other news;
over at GW2G (for anyone who doesn't frequent there) in the Library of Whispers (their version of Nolani), actionjack started up a great weekly thread where anyone and everyone gets togethor to do a weekly sketch/piece. I think this is a great idea and is even cooler since its guild wars themed :3
So i'm working on some poses/sketches that i'll likely post here, and if I'm torn between some good poses I'll try and get some suggesitons on which is thebest choice ^^
*i remembered to use a 300ppi setting. it already feels better and its only a sketch C:

you should deffinatly try and draw something for the thread; even if it is just a sketch or light colouring ^^

Something I'm doing for that thread over at GW2G:
Its suppost to be a sylvari guardian; kind of didnt follow through with that idea. She looks more like a ritualist.
She also needs pants or something... Dunno what to do yet.

Yeah she does look like a ritualist but more on the shamanistic side since Sylvaris are nature-type people. I love the pose though

Other than armor, how do you think I could make it more guardian-esque?
What if she was summoning a spirit weapon above her. Still ritualist/shaman feeling but its still another guardian feature. I might work on some more armor..

Guardian is more like a Monk and a Paragon thrown into a blender. Rather then a Ritualist-ish class. From what I have seen, the Guardian has alot of blue colored pieces on it's armor. I guess you could add some blue glowing flowers on her. I would raise up that butt since it's almost on knee height. I do like those root feet.

What if i made the flame (torch, left of the screen) and the ovule (scepter, right of screen) give off a blue glow and change her chest thing to a silver?
I deffinatly need to redo the legs/butt, but I think it might actually be because theres no distinction for where her legs are bending. Right now it sort of looks like she doesnt have shins and that might be why it looks so awkward.. If that doesn't work ill just move the butt up :P
Edit:
Shameless self promotion here;
the deviantART group needs an icon, and people submitted their choices. I made one as I thought it would be a pretty fun idea :3
Theres a vote going on now, which you can find here so please go ahead and vote for the one you think is best
