ooh, I'm excited for the next workshop then

Your x-men sketch is pretty awesome! I can instantly tell who each one is even though there isn't that much detail

Whoo, more use of the Database!

And I would be very enthousiastic about another Workshop! Perhabs a theme around extremely dynamic poses? I watched Kung Fu Hustle yesterday (again... ) and I'm really up to unwrap Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or House of Flying Daggers again. Just an idea I'm willing to push down your throat. ^^

I really need to stop by here more...everytime i pop my head in, you keep improving and just doing oustanding pieces, your style is really evolving into something special, and i can't wait to see what it turns out to be (not to say your art isn't special now haha...but you have so much potential!)

Was the X-Men sketch just a sketch or were you planning to turn that into a full-blow piece? I think you could push the poses a bit further on Wolverine and Cyclops a bit more - they look a bit weak at the moment. Rogue could be pushed a bit more as well, though not as much as the other two.

As for Murke's comish, I really like the pose. However, she looks a tad bit unnatural. Her arm feels as if she's really shrugging her shoulders while doing a severe downwards stretch. The legs feel a bit out of place as well.

Try taking that pose yourself, and see how you personally would sit. Would your head be tilted backwards, hand placed more flat, legs at more of a flat line, etc? Because at the moment, it feels like she's in a really uncomfortable pose.

I like the ideas you're going with though.

Thanks Thistle and Lady K!

Tommy, that's a great idea! Though not sure where I can find a really good source for dynamic poses.

Not planning to make it a full blown art but I really appreciate the feedback ^_^. I'd use a reference for something big like this. Just wanted to see how much I've memorized anatomy and gesture drawing so far. It started out as some random guy sketch that I thought was standing like Wolverine then I just added from there.

I am using a reference for this pose and might have to revisit it again. Thanks Charliepai. I have been really lazy about drawing these days because I got back into World of Warcraft PvP. >_< Supposed to finish this last weekend *sigh*

Screenshots from the movies! Gonna watch them all pretty much soon, if you like I can take some for you. I'll take them anyway, because I'm planning on doing some myself anyway

Oooh that would be awesome. I tried looking for some the other day but I got no idea where to start >_<. I might start the workshop in a month or two from now (dealing with an art rut as I already mentioned lol) but feel free to host it if you're so inclined. =P

That's my favorite source of references for poses - there are some nice dynamic poses in there, as well as lots of perspective-y ones.

@Verene - Oh yeah, I LOOOOVE her! I guess I am just specifically looking for really good movement pieces when the subject is actually doing the action and not just posing to do it. (e.g. like action poses from movies as Tommy said)

@Tommy, I am willing to host the workshop but would you be willing to provide the pose references?

So! I started coloring that piece and all that after much proscastinating...but I ended up scrapping the whole thing. It came to me that I am probably being lazy because I wasn't feeling the character in the piece anymore. Yeah I am pretty nitpicky about that aspect of my drawings. >_<

Here's the new pose and since UPS said they are delivering my Cintiq today, I might finish it using that new tool and make this my guinea pig lol. Murke's fine with it >_>. lol, I disabled my original sketch layer so some lines/curves may be missing..*just realized it now*

On a GW related thing (*Gasp* I know right? It's been awhile since I drew GW), I made this sketch for Murke. It's her ritualist:

Oh my... you are getting a Cintiq? Super lucky! They are so much fun to draw with. I tried one at a convention once, it's just really smooth and natural to draw with it.

I like the sketches. Murke's rit looks really cute, and the new sketch also looks nice. Perhaps the only thing that looks a bit off is her feet - they look a little too small to be supporting all that weight. Don't be afraid to draw big feet, it just helps to make the character more balanced.

Is the Cintiq a huge step up from the Wacom Bamboo? Let me know how that one plays out, because I'm still in love with my Bamboo.

Anyways, onto the pose - it's really playful, and a huge change from the last one. I kind of miss the old one, though this one is neat. Is she going to be leaning up against anything? At the moment, the angle on her back looks like she'll be resting against something.

If not, I think you should angle her forward a bit more. Try taking that pose to get a feeling of how far you'd have to lean in order to keep balance. Also, push that tilt in her head even more. Depending on how far you push it, that could make the pose even more playful.

Pery! *hugs* Long time no see!

Yep I got the cintiq two days ago. Really haven't got a chance to play with it much yet but I love it so far!

So far so good Charlie and yes it's a huge step. I didn't even go through the Intuos series lol. I was also using the Bamboo.

I like how natural it feels and the surface is not as slippery as I expected (I used to put a piece of paper on top of my bamboo). Only complaint I can think of right now is the fact that the color seems less saturated in the cintiq compared to my monitor (I have a dual monitor setup now). But since it's a diff LCD display, that is to be expected. I was advised to get a color calibration software but right now I am fine with my set up. I can just drag the preview window in Photoshop in my LCD and the rest of the workspace in the Cintiq. Plus the final retouches for color correction at the end can be done on my LCD monitor anyway.

Thanks for the critique on the new version Pery and Charly..uhm..don't kill me because I decided to continue the older version. Got a burst of motivation after I got a cintiq >_>. Still working out the fixes and stuff (esp on her legs). I decided to do the paint over approach. So I am virtually working on one layer on top of the rest fixing everything lol.

PS- Hmm my laptop LCD (where I am typing this post right now) seem to be consistent with the color that I remember on my Cintiq. So yeah that color thing is not a cintiq issue. It's more of an expected behavior from varying types of monitor settings I suppose.

Done with Murke's artwork:

Also started working on my comic (first panel in particular) and already I am forced outside my comfort zone lol..first time I had to draw a dragon:

And I am officially in love with my cintiq now as it does seem to speed up my workflow

Oooooh dragon.

And I am so jealous that you got a Cintiq. I've got a Graphire3 that I got for Christmas when I was 15 or 16. I'm 25 now

I am loving the dragon panel! very cool first attempt - glad to hear you're happy with your new toy, would be quite a financial bummer if you weren't
