Yaaaay! Keeping an eye on the thread so I catch whatever fixes you make.
And heh, ever since this art-trade, I got back in to GW and I've been playing pretty much exclusively on Tomie. Trying to get her through Nightfall now, I'd forgotten how much fun she's to play with. :3

That's so cool! On my part, I logged on to GW last night as well. I was went to help out a few friends with their missions. I did it with Mina but I logged on Ran while waiting lol. Actually while waiting ,I sketched this for actionjack's weekly challenge in the gw2guru forums (Sylvari Guardian). Depending on my mood, I might refine it some more. I blame Charlie.
Oh yeah still fail scan. I tried Despeckle or something in Photoshop lol. -_-"
@Eastern - I think I know what you mean with that method but I do it in a slightly different way. What I do is that I take my shadow layer and duplicate it. Set it to multiply then adjust hue/saturation towards the red spectrum (keep 'Colorized' checked) and then the adjust the opacity of the layer accordingly. Oddly enough, I didn't do that with this one (I tend to forget it for some reason lol). But here are the fixes I did as far as I remember.
-I abused the sharpen tool in my initial submission lol. I usually do this on the final stages of my drawings. I skipped this one on the fixed version. I just did 'sharpen edges' and that gave Tomie the softer look.
-I fixed a lot of my sloppy blending and did more detailing. I find that I see errors more after I already submit the art. So it's almost guaranteed that I fix drawings right after I send/upload them.
-I added more shadows on her torso part most especially. Because the light direction is on the right side and the way her torso is tilted, her abdomen shouldn't be that highlighted. I made another layer in multiply and added some shadows
-Added another layer in overlay to make the colors pop out. Color picked the base colors and airbrush lightly over it.
-Another layer in multiply and select a pinkish hue. Again, brush over the parts of the skin that tends to get blush. Cheeks, the elbows (since the skin is thin around here and blood should give it a reddish hue) and the chest. This is very subtle but it does make a difference.
-Shinies on the dagger
*wonders if she should make a coloring tutorial*

lol I hope I keep track of what I am doing.
And I really have a habit of making something I thought would be simple more complicated. I tend to get ideas as I work on something.
I already drew the bg (first attempt at speed painting background really) but I am hiding it for now

The profile looks good, though there's just two parts I think need some tweeking. That little dip (whatever it's called) beneath his nose can be lightened and angled forward a bit. Right now, it looks like his upper lip is pushing out a bit too far because of it.
Also, his cheekbone is angled too far back. The angle it's sitting at right now is more fitted to a straight on front view. It should be angled a bit closer to the edges of the mouth.
This skull profile gives you a good idea of how the bones sit in a profile view:
EDIT: Oh, and his ear could be moved forward as well. All easy fixes, and you should be golden.

Thanks Charlie! *hug* I knew something was off with the gap between the nose and the lips. And thanks for pointing out the rest. *goes to fix*
EDIT -
Fixed version. But I need to sleep so may still have mistakes. hand is still meh..lol Changed the bg to gray to see the contours better.

Wooooo, more Ran! \o/ He's looking hawt, you're really getting good at doing side profiles. At least to my eye there's nothing wrong with your updated side profile, it's looking very nice.
