Back from vacation. Did a few sketches and just got one that I really like. I had one for Perynne's sin too but not sure if I like it yet. So I guess I'll be working on Eek's mesmer first (Art Trade).
Here's the initial sketch and I am about to render it digitally after this. Still got a lot to fix..esp the nose and her left hand. Uhm..I saw the pose from a magazine ad and I think I am just gonna put some sparkly mesmer magical stuff on her left hand >_> ...that or a mirror?

I still need to get started on your dA workshop... I think I've finally narrowed down a pose to do
|
Thanks Thistle *hug* Glad you're joining the workshop. I'll be sending a reminder tom XD
I sketched it on paper first. I brought my sketchpad during my vacation and doodled. I decided not to shade it because I knew I would rather render it digitally.
I don't worry too much about my scans in this case Thistle because I paint over the original sketch anyway. :P
My Rogue drawing also started as a traditional sketch too:
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/Rogue-WIP-174890045
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/...n-Up-174982069
And here's another one of my doodles from my vacation. It's actually my necro but I changed her hairstyle and drew her according to my imagination. She's my mesmer's real mom. I gave up trying to fix the errors that I see because I am close to destroying the paper because I keep on erasing stuff lol. Might color it later on digitally depending on my mood
And here's what I have in mind for Perynne's sin. Not sure if I will go with it yet..We'll see! I need to focus on one drawing at a time *is all over the place*
and my 2010 Art Meme

Sorry for double posting. Here's the 'finished' version of Eeks' mesmer. I might retouch it tomorrow.

Oooh, I like my sin's pose. A bit more sexy than what she usually goes for, but I don't mind. It has a lot of her playfulness in it.
Very nice work on Eek's mesmer. I love the light effect on her face and her hand! :3

Thanks Perynne! lol, funny (and I am glad) how I get positive comments on the hand...and it's my least favorite thing to draw. Just really proves how references help a lot
About your assassin sketch - I got so used to drawing sexy females lol. I dont know why I tend to keep doing that but I did try to make her look very playful ^^
I used a reference for the sketch but it's from my anatomy book and it's nothing more than an outline (I always change the face (based from my imagination or style) and clothing obviously). I think I would rather get a real person reference like I did with Eeks' actually for better practice. Will keep you posted

Eek's mesmer looks great. Digging how the lighting on the face really draws a lot of focus.
And I'll be uploading that sheet with facial expressions tomorrow. Figured I would wait until you came back from vacation, should it get lost in the thread posts.

*hug Charlie* Thanks so much! I'll save it in my hard drive when I get home. By any chance, do you have a female version? ^_^
I forgot to mention that I updated the pic in my previous post on Eeks' mesmer - which is the version that Charlie probably seen. (added ambient lighting on the figure cos I remembered that from one of Charlie's critiques in my old drawings)
Sorry if I have been quiet lately. I promised my husband that I'll level my warlock with his druid to 85 in World of Warcraft lol. Now that we're both max level, we only need to do instances/raids to get gear which is only a few hours a week.
Recap
2010 has been a great year for me and I am looking to improve even more. So if any of you have any advise on how I can improve (e.g. target areas for improvement) please let me know and I would greatly appreciate it. I am still continuing to learn anatomy as well.
A few things to expect from yours truly in 2011:
Monthly Big Art Project- I plan to create a monthly artwork where I put my best effort into. I kinda killed myself into committing to my idea for January. It's a six-character artwork..so yeah that might take most of my time for this month. I've started it.. sort of ...but barely lol.
Art Trades with Perynne and Nian - I found a good reference pic for Perynne's assassin and Nian already sent me her character details. So I am all set to start these once I am done with the big January artwork I am talking about. Probably Perynne's first. Then hopefully Nian's by Feb/March.
Anatomy Workshop finale. Open for everyone but you'll need a DA account! Thistle has expressed her interest in joining. The more the merrier

My fanart request list - something that I plan to do in between. More like a practice for speed painting and I am hoping to get better results as I go along. Here's the list:
Samus -DONE!
Chun Li - DONE!
Bayonetta - DONE!
Storm from X-Men
Sheik from Zelda
Quistis (FF8)
Lain
Vice from KoF
Sarah Kerrigan
Green Goblin
Wall-E
David from Dr. Who
Altair from Assassins Creed
So it does look like I am pretty booked for this year. Hopefully my speed improves along the way and maybe I can slip commissions in between plus some gift arts that I haven't even started yet.
Again, thanks for all the support and Happy New Year!

<3 happy new year raven!
Looking forward to seeing you progress I think the only quirky thing I notice in your works is the anatomy from time to time, which you've already said you're working on...sooooo....*cheers raven on*
maybe try to do a few more speed paints inbetween requests and monthly projects? Dont kill yourself :P after all, we'll still be sitting here eagerly anticipating your next art work
side note: cannot wait to see storm!!! (she and rogue are my fave xmen characters)
edit:spell fail fix lol

Unfortunately I don't have a female version of expressions. Though I'd suggest really analyzing how the muscles in the face change according to that sheet. Get those down properly, and you'll be able to transfer them over to a female face easily.

Charlie - Gotcha
Oh and yeah I seem so slow since I came back on vacation. This is all I have so far for my big project. It's not an art block but more like...I don't stop working on the face until I am completely satisfied with it. And this is only the rough sketch part....

The perfectionism paid off. :3 I struggle more with faces and hands than anything else, and it seems you've got them down. XD I admired (stared) at the faces for a few seconds thinking "ffffffff, really, really reeeaaallly love the way Raven draws faces" before reading what you'd said about it. =P

ooh, can't wait to see the final piece! Right now it reminds me of sitting in a nightclub about to watch a show - Mina waving to someone she knows while holding a drink and then you get the guy in the back coming in late trying to find a seat at any table...

@Verene
I don't think the requestor specified anyone in particular. I just defaulted to Altair because I have that game (never finished it though. Got bored with the repetitive assassination quests though I heard they fixed that in the sequel).
I can make it Ezio since he seems to be more favored based on all the Assassin Creed fanart that sprouted all over DA recently.lol
@Drelias
Thank you! lol yeah my perfectionist side is gonna show in these monthly pieces that I am planning this year..but I got to be careful not to take the entire year to finish one thing. I think I just need to get back on track...looks like playing WoW got me a bit out of the loop. I finished Eeks' art trade faster than I expected and that was before I returned to WoW.
I don't see the other monthly pieces to be this complicated though. It was initially a one character idea that became four and then I saw a good pose reference pic that has six characters in it. Next time I might stick to one or two characters. *crosses fingers*
@Thistle - Close but not quite .Good guess though but you'll see!

I never finished the first one either, because it was so repetitive. The second and Brotherhood are among my favorite games ever, though, they fixed everything wrong from the first and they're just amazing. I highly recommend them

still slow but considerable updates. I should stop playing WoW lol
It's actually a spin off of a still photo of a tv show pic. Thistle, I think it's obvious now what they are doing lol
