@InfestedHydralisk - That indeed is nice. Photoshop seems a little overwhelming at first but the time and effort you put into learning it would be worth it. A lot of graphics/art programs seem to have followed the Photoshop UI (there are some variations but you'll generally find your way around other graphics software if you're familiar with PS)
@Perynne - Your artworks look amazing and yeah worrying too much is actually more detrimental than what we intend to be. So for our Art Trade, you do the same with mine - just have fun with it. Go crazy if you want to..just not too crazy that I would see an Alot's face in the final piece rofl
@Frost - *hughughug* Thank you!
@Thistle - Thanks! and Yay for Toothless!

So update on that WIP. I am trying a different technique. Was going the grayscale route at first then I found a different tutorial that I wanted to try. It seems easier to put flat colors right away if there's a clean lineart:
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/...IP-2-186462724
And a bday gift to one of my guildies. Started this a couple of weeks ago and just did the finishing touches tonight. Another experimental piece by using rough brush strokes. Used the grayscale method on this one. Well..hand is kinda off but he liked it and told me to not worry about it

Nice! I like how she's reaching up towards the viewer, and the colours are so pretty. I think using some textures for the background and perhaps even her clothing would work to add a bit of extra shine/detail to it. Then again, textures seem to be a matter of taste, and don't always work like intended. :P

Thanks Perynne! Yeah I contemplated on putting more textures but I didn't want to make the pic too busy. ^^
As much as I am pleased with this one, I am going back to my grayscale technique lol. I might give the lineart thing another try and make it thinner next time. I like how it makes the picture pop out more.
And <3 Toothless indeed
Jessyi's commish should be next then I will move on to my Art Trades. I also got a couple of rough sketches (personal art) that I might want to speed paint or try out in Corel Painter.

SUIGINTARA! Or um...水銀タラ I guess...
You know though...Suigintou was only the first Rozen Maiden. Imagine...an entire line up of Rozen Taras...NO...I will call it..."Tara Otome" (タラ乙女)!
This plan is 206% genius. My name George Zimmer and I guarantee it.

タラ...私の黒い天使様
A sufficiently perceptive or insane person can find meaning in virtually anything. For instance, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups taught me at an early age the synergistic power of combining two extraordinarily awesome components; the result being greater than the sum of it's parts.
What I'm saying is...Chocolate is to Peanut Butter what Rozen Maiden is to Guild Wars. How you perceive my sanity is neither here nor there, but nobody can argue with results.
I'm very pleased with what Raven did for me, and this is my roundabout way of saying thank you.
Now to begin planning commissions for the remaining seven dolls. Maybe after Wintersday...or maybe I should say Desumas.

I could follow it easily.. not sure if it's a good or a bad thing. I've only seen around three episodes of Rozen Maiden though.
Nice work Ravenhawk! I love the detail in her dress, all the little wrinkles on the top and the lace and feathers. Wish we had something like that for mesmers ingame.

lol I understood what Jessyi said too
Thanks Perynne and Jessyi .I gotta admit, I had a lot of fun with that dress. lol. It seemed daunting at first but I liked how it turned out.
And here's something I did after Jessyi's commish for the anatomy thing I am having in my DA page. It's my mesmer. Drawing two pretty and sweet looking blonde girls in succession gave me a craving for sketching my raven-haired, hot-headed mesmer again

I aspire to complete confusion, but really all you need to know is that I was unnecessarily over-complicating a metaphor. Actually, I think I'm still doing it.
Ok let me try again. Chocolate and Peanut Butter put together creates something better than Chocolate or Peanut Butter alone. The same is true for Guild Wars and Rozen Maiden. Yeye.
"Desumas" is an inside joke. One of the characters has red and green eyes and says "desu" all the time, so they just nicknamed her "Desu". The eye color + the name = Desumas instead of Christmas.

Thanks Thistle! No worries, you got until Wednesday. I also got busy this weekend working on Jessyi's commission and doing chores so I only managed to make one for the workshop. Was hoping I could draw my ranger as the archer pose..hmm..maybe tonight. Let's see how it goes. I do want to get started on my Art Trades though.
I am really enjoying this workshop a ton. I can't believe how helpful references are. I was looking at my old drawings before the workshop and all of them are poses that are pretty generic. Nothing wrong with that but I just noticed it's a common theme lol. I still do them once in awhile but you can tell that I was scared to try out different angles and perspective in the past. I have gotten over that now. Everything I learned from the workshop is a great way to cap my first year in digital drawing

Finished one out of my four Art Trades. Yay! Still don't know which one to do next.
I suck at backgrounds >_>
In the meantime, I felt like drawing a male character so I sketched my ranger (alternate version). I am contemplating whether or not I should finish it. We'll see if the mood hits me I guess.
