What I am working right now for a random mini contest that inspired me to do. Still not pretty happy with it. Might do some fixes/color tonight.
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/...etch-184634396
After this, I'll be working on a DA commission, then maybe the one in waiting GW commission request I received after I closed the last time. Just need to contact the owner to confirm lol.
Also I feel like revisiting Murke's lineart of our guildies. Might color it on the side.
http://kalinotora.deviantart.com/art...ders-166139140
Busy busy busy. But once I get a few out of the way, maybe I can reopen a three slot commission. I am doing a lot of experimenting right now and trying to learn anatomy. So I can't really post a consistent looking sample art lol.

I would LOVE another artwork from you! So yeah I'm up for Art Trade Let me know!
And I sleep..it just so happen that my work lets me be in front of the comp all day and at night, I draw at my personal comp so yeah...>_>
And new art.. kinda sped through it at the end though lol. I was feeling an onset of art block ..but I hope I am able to brush it off now ...
I tried to tone down on the shadows as I've learned from my collab with Vulpes ^^

That looks really good. Yeah, the softer shadows are definitely helping to make your drawings look a bit more versatile. Perhaps you should try doing a quick drawing, where you only use really, really light shadows, just enough to detail the drawing but not enough to make it look like the character is standing in a strong light?
I'm in the process of learning about lighter shadows too. It's too much temptation to make them darker....
If you're up for it at some point, I'd like to do an art-trade with you too. :3 I do understand if you've got too much to draw right now though.

Thanks Perynne! I'll try to do that. Yeah I tend to choose strong lighting so the temptation to do vivid shadows is always there lol. I'll try to set a less dark mood next time.
I would totally love an art trade with you! If you don't mind the wait at all ^_^ I don't mind waiting either for mine either. I'll certainly let you know when I can get yours started so don't worry about starting mine anytime soon ^^
Let me know if this is fine and I'd gladly add you to my to-do list which is at the bottom left of my DA page (the orange section):

That sounds good. I'm currently working on a couple of art-trades and a commission as well, so it will be a while before I can start on yours. Just let me know when you're able to do the art-trade, and I'll start on my part around the same time. You can send more information (like what character you'd like) once we start drawing.

If you do plan to re-open, you can skip my bust request and upgrade me to a full portrait (for more money dollar bucks of course). It might mean waiting a little longer but you're my favorite roooooguemiiiinaaa!
Be less busy imo!

@Jessyi - You mean full body, right? ^_^ I updated my to-do list and I am actually starting to feel more comfortable about full body now so it's cool.
I was planning to PM you about your commission because I plan to work on it after the current one that I am in right now + my Art Trades in between. The guy already paid me in full via paypal and I feel bad for delaying it lol.
I /might/ reopen for a few commission spots in the near future..I kinda want to work on achievements but yours would be my priority. Thanks for being so patient!
@Perynne - Added you in =D

Yeye, Suigintara! And yes, I mean full body.
I'll outbid anyone for a slot if you do reopen, and I heard money helps with achievements...It's also the one thing Tara's got more of than common sense.
I guess you could say though that she's not just a monk...she's more like a "problem solver". Weapons, armors, cash...Tara's got just what you need! The question isn't "can she get it"...it's "do you want it"?
Just say the word.

So..this is actually my latest but being my first real money commission piece I am NOT happy with it (Disappointed is the right term lol). The entire time I was working on it I felt like I forget how to color/draw. I suffer that occasionally and I always hate it. So I told the guy that I will make him another and consider this as a freebie.
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/...acks-186162353
Here's the sketch of the new one..I decided to go the cutesy route rofl:
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/sketch-186155512
What does that mean? Umm.. more delays from yours truly. I probably won't be able to do commissions in the near future but I'll most probably be finishing Jessyi's and my Art Trades after the remake of that commission piece above. I apologize to those who have been waiting for me to reopen. I really really am flattered by your support.
And yeah probably no Wintersday Workshop for me either because I have a few vacations next month and wouldn't have time to concentrate on something that might take me several weeks to complete.

Don't worry about our art-trade. I'm currently a bit busy too, thanks to Christmas approaching and needing to do two artworks as gifts along with the art-trades and Wintersday contest.
When you feel up for an art-trade with me and have time to do it, just let me know. I'd be happy to do an art-trade with you anytime, even if it doesn't happen until next year.
And hehe, I remember my first money-commission. I was freaking out too, totally not satisfied with what I came up with. But sometimes it's best to just relax, and if the person paying likes what they see, then go with it. I hope your second attempt is better for you. I think it's looking good so far.

Thanks Perynne! I also want to make it a point that I enjoy drawing. The only issue I have about it is lack of time. So it's not really a chore for me. I just wish there was more than 24 hours in one day and we never need sleep *looks at Minami* lol
And I'll certainly let you know when I am ready to start (same with my other Art Trades). ^^
And about the commission, yeah that's exactly how I felt. lol. I tend to put so much more pressure on myself when I do artworks for other people..especially if someone is paying me real money for it. I am not really doing commissions (because I know I am still pretty noobish about drawing lol) but this guy just noted me about it and offered to pay me in $. I thought I should give it a try.
So the more I worked on that one, the uglier it looked to me. The composition was off and the way I drew the pose was just too stiff. So when I am done I was like...'I wouldn't pay that amount of money for this art' . And I decided to give it as a gift and make a new one for him. Needless to say, I didn't even ask the guy if he likes it because I can't force myself to like the finished piece in the first place lol. I mean it's decent but not something I'd pay that amount of money for...esp comparing it to my other works. Another thing I noticed is that it looks more anime than my usual stuff probably because of the schoolgirl theme lol. Nothing wrong with anime (I actually like anime lol) but it's just odd since I didn't really intend to draw in that style when I was sketching.
I am liking the new one a lot better actually. I put in a little Toothless plushie in there to inspire me. I've been babbling about Toothless in Kiya's thread lol so hopefully that should get me more motivated. Also decided to change the mood from confident/badass girl (the types I am used to drawing thanks to my obsession with my mesmer) to cutesy girl for a change.
Sorry for the wall of text. I tend to do that O_O

I like the new one, Raven. Very cute. This first one was alright, but I can see why you were frustrated, doesnt look quite like your style. I'm sure the new one will come out better Like Pery said, just relax!

I never said that drawing is a chore. But yeah, it can easily become one if you stress too much, or try to do too much too fast. Good to know your limits.
Heh, the only reason I'm being so productive at the moment is because I'm unemployed. It's horrible because I can't afford to buy anything, but it's awesome because I can spend hours and hours drawing during the day. As soon as I get a job again, my productivity will probably take a sharp nosedive.
I'm sure the guy who you're doing a commission for will be ecstatic to get two artworks for the price of one. Lucky guy. It's good that you're trying out different things too; makes for a more versatile artist.

Yay thanks Frost! I also always forget to say that I am very flattered that you're still using that drawing as your avatar ^_^
@Perynne - lol my bad, I didn't mean you said drawing was a chore. I was just coming off from me being so slow in drawing and might sound like I was complaining ^__^. but I can totally relate to the part when it becomes stressful at times..although mostly that stress is self-inflicted more than anything I think.
I just came to realize now that my favorite artworks were done when I just let the inspiration take over and not worry too much of the technicality. When I do artworks for other people (commissions), I tend to think mostly about whether the person would like it or not instead of taking the concept or the personality of the subject to mind. Having a first real money commission is probably a lot more pressure for someone who has little confidence in her drawing skills (me). Having learned this, I think this is a huge bonus on top of actually getting paid So yeah two drawings for that guy is really not a big deal considering what I learned from the experience.

Being able to make some extra money with your hobby that you enjoy alot is awesome. I wish I had a live coach that who would help me out with Photoshop, I don't know anything so it's so confusing. Atleast I'm learning a bit more during my collab with Trish. <3

I have the same thing here, my best artworks are drawn when I can just relax and not worry too much about technicality. It's kind of why these days I draw commissions and art-trades for the fun of it, and have decided that if they're crazy enough to want a drawing from me, they should be prepared to accept whatever comes their way. And well, people seem to like even my more experimental pieces.
I used to have a huge crisis, wondering if anyone liked my art and always hating whatever I drew for someone else. These days I get asked for GW commissions and the occasional freelance job without even advertising, so I've just decided to just give up on the worrying and accept the fact that I actually know how to draw. It helps that now I'm able to develop my style in a direction I'm happy with too.
It's good experience to do commissions for money, it'll help boost up your confidence. And you've made very much progress with your style too. When we do our art-trade, if you're up for it, I'd like you to do something experimental, and not worry too much about what I'll think. I trust in your ability to draw something beautiful so much that I'm sure whatever you come up with, I'll like.

Raven, you always but your heart into it, and you can tell by your final works I LOVE my avatar! Captures the snarky attitude Frost has ^__^(And the rest of the drawing too-its part of my desktop background along with my other commissions. I love what you guys do, its all so purdy!)
