Torikae attempts to art her way to GWAMM!
Hi, my name is Torikae (IGN Ashling Fey). I used to hang around these forums a whole lot and I did a run of commissions here a few years ago.
I've currently hit the Drunkard-Wall when it comes to GWAMM (that is, I am separated from my goal only by a few thousand drinks/sweets/party items) and I am wondering if you lovely people would be able to help me out in exchange for some shiny pictures of your characters.
If you are interested, please post:
- screenshots of your character (as clear as possible - character select screen is great)
- character's eye colour (often hard to tell in screenshots)
- any preferences regarding attitude / type of pose
Sorry, but for the moment, no pets or minipets. I'll take a stab () at weapons though.
Commissions take me between 15-20 hours to complete once I've got a sketch I'm happy with and are drawn from start to finish in Photoshop, usually over the course of a few days.
I'll run the sketch by you before I begin to line the picture, to make sure that I am on the right track, will post finished commissions here and will PM the full res after payment.
Ideally, I'm looking for payment entirely in spammable alcohol, sweets and/or party points. I'd suggest maybe 75k worth? But I know all too well that these items are harder to come by than platinum, so it's really a case of whatever you're happy and able to offer
Here is an example of the sort of picture I'd be hoping to offer:
Here are two pictures of my own characters to give an idea of what I can manage, along with the completed commissions below:

My god, you're back!
In the frantic hurry and frenzy I find myself in, I'll have to reserve a spot until I can get some information together, and start working on converting my resources for the cause.
For now, it brings me joy enough just to see you back with us.
Erith
Ref A, Ref B
Eyes: Purple
Personality: Erith is a lighthearted and social character, playful, charismatic, and just a little clumsy. She finds herself often shifting between social environments and nature, mixing between a love of nature's own manifestations, and it's combined power with great works of architecture.
Side notes: Preferably, without the shoulder piece and gloves.
Ign: Asereth Silverwind
Just a little rushed, but hopefully it suffices. Feel free to take as many artistic liberties as you like. If you have any questions, harass me as you wish.

I don't really have any sweets/party/alcohol stuff left (finished those titles and gave what I had left to friends), but if plat/ecto is fine for payment, then sign me up for a commission
My necromancer, Shizuka -
Eye color appears to be a dark reddish-brown normally; if possible I'd just like the left eye (our left) bright red from the scar pattern and the other dark brown like usual.
Attitude-wise, despite her appearance she's really not all that dark and serious; I use her as a mercenary hero for some of my other characters and gave her the humorous personality. Weapon-wise, she uses a Bo Staff. Formerly a Spiteful Spirit hexer, right now I go as an Order of Undeath minion master.
As far as payment goes, I understand how annoying those titles can be...100k+tip?

Blergh I want but I constantly give away all the consumables I get... :/
Edit: Do you accept ecto's? And do you do OC's too?

:O hey, another artist that uses cel shading!! I was getting lonely here!
Very awesome green flames in that example pic. Did you draw those from scratch or use a brush/stock photo?
Is 75k the base price or the average price?

How about 3 stacks of unopened trick or treat bags for a commission?
Edit: I've never requested a commission before, but I do imagine you need some reference pics...
If you're willing and not too busy, I may have 2 more characters I could request art for.
I'll start digging to see what other title fodder I have kicking around.

Wow, thanks for all the interest, you guys! Closing the list for now - A waiting list of three seems like a good number so that I don't panic too hard.
Invertation! Seeing you post made me smile - If I remember rightly, your warrior was one of my very first commissions here some four years ago! Your monk's gorgeous - I look forward to getting started on some sketches tomorrow
Verene - Platinum is cool for now, especially since your necro seems like a fun subject
InfestedHydralisk - I'm going to set up in Kamadan while I draw this round and hopefully convert some of my bank balance into booze. If this goes well, then ectos and plat will be cool for the next round too. If it goes badly, I may have to request straight items.
Regarding OCs, I'm most comfortable working from really specific references, especially when it comes to costume. If you have images I could use as references, i.e. other art of your OC, then I might be able to give it a shot
Araiia - Pleased to meet you, fellow cel-shader! The flames were just drawn with a soft brush, put through a palette-knife or cut-out filter (I always forget which) and then duplicated on overlay. I'm not very photoshop-savvy tbh, so I make it up as I go along
75k is just a vague guideline based on how long the pictures take me - works out at <5k an hour or so - but I'm happy to accept less, especially if it comes in the form of alcohol, sweets, etc.
trickfred - ToT bags would be absolutely fabulous! *grovels in thanks* I look forward to drawing your monk - her outfit should be fun
Edit: Smiley overload.

xD okay, I don't even know what palette knives or cut outs are, so you already know more about photoshop than I do! lol :3 whatever you did, it looks great.
Magic and flame effects are my nemesis D':<
Whoa o.o' it takes you 15 hours to draw a request? That's a lot of time and work. I have some ToT bags and kegs I've been saving for a while that I could part with.. I really love this piece, would it be possible to get something similar (a face/shoulders close-up) but smaller and with a less detailed background? We can work out a price or I can pay by hour if that's how your art is priced.

Would this info be enough? Other artists were able to make pretty accurate ones.

Phew! I am still alive! Been a bit under the weather the last few days, so sorry for the absence.
Here is Invertation's picture - Hope it's okay!
Verene's is up next
Araiia - I can certainly give a close-up a shot. Will get back to you properly once I get through these three.
Morag! <3 That picture is embarrassing xD I still adore the gorgeous piece you did of Ashling too
InfestedHydralisk - Yeah, that should be doable. Will give you a shout once I'm through these three pictures too
Aeronwen - Thank you very much

Alright, take your time!
Invertation's monk looks awesome! Great pose and I like the semi painterly feel of the background and grass. Did you use a brush or did you draw every blade of grass by hand? :O

Awesome! Let me know if you need anything else from me!
I'm going to add a few more pics to this post, namely ones with the dragon tattoos on the arms, if that's okay.
Edit: Actually nevermind, the Labyrinthine is fine, and no need to complicate things. Take your time after your trip, I'm in no hurry.

Very cool Torikae, the luminous effect really works well! Very clean armor as well, did you vector this? Either way, great job!
