This workshop was a lot of fun, as was the party! Lots of thanks to Thistle and Arghore for organizing it so wonderfully! I just read the judging comments for my entry: Awwww! Thanks so much <3
Congratulations to everyone who participated and won, i am looking forward to more workshops and parties .

Too bad you couldn't come, but next time you must be there
Here's one screenshot of Sura (Morgahn), Death By An Arrow (Koss) and me (Shiro) rocking our new EL tonics ^^ There were many MANY more people but I can't find a good screenshot of the masses...

That had to be one of my favorites too ... i knew i wanted to give all the 'NPC' related to wintersday a role during the party, and when Anet removed the presentrunning from wintersday it became rather clear what role the grentchies would have to fullfill during the party

The canthan newyear is the comming weekend (if im not mistaken), so a rather short notice . But, there would be a wintersday in Juli that might be interesting, especially if the rules state the 'in Juli' part would have to be integrated into the artwork somehow ... still though, that whole workshop might be disturbed by GW2 comming out and as such a real drop in interest for a GW1 contest and GW1 prizes (other then perhaps Hall items, which may help increase reward levels for GW2). Also see below...

I have organized the party for 5 workshops now (if not mistaken), 2x halloween and 3x wintersday. I enjoyed organizing them, but I personally think that gaining some new blood into the 'party organizing crowd' is of great value to the continuation of parties being organized ... this means that i decided that i rather wait untill somebody else points out they are interested in organizing the party, whom i would then offer my experience in more of a consulting role. This will give others the opportunity to get involved, without loozing knowledge of parties held in previous years... (if there is nobody interested, and i have the time then its likely i will do it anyways seeing i have a hard time saying 'no' and rather enjoy throwing parties, but as said, idd like to give 'young blood' a chance first! )
Then there is the other thing, that i also mentioned to GeminiJuSa, and that is GW2 ... we all know that GW1 will continue to excist, but with GW2 around the corner it's very likely that halloween & wintersday will have a much larger interest in GW2. But (and some of us 'event organizers' have already discussed this inevitability (<- did i spell that right :/ ), when GW comes out this means that gathering prizes will become a whole new ballgame, and we don't know yet if there will be somewhat easily farmed items interesting enough to give away, players like us will also want to play the game for ourselves and our own characters, and we don't know yet how easy it is to build up wealth in some form to hand out.
All this is pretty well known in GW1 and some people have ecto's and other stuffz comming outof their *censorred* making it rather easy to get a nice prize pool (don't be mistaken though, if you do these things on a regular basis there is still quite some farming involved, but bigger events (like these workshops) can fortunatly also count on donations) ... unfortunatly though, it is very likely that as GW2 comes around, people will be less interested in winning things for GW1 (besides those that are trying to frantically fill their HOM), and those people rather win things for GW2 ...
This leaves events (like these workshops) rather stuck between a rock and a hard place ... not to mention the still shady "when it's done" uncertainty related to the above ... There is just one way to get these community events off the ground in this new situation. It is a strategy that related to ancient warfare campaigns, everybody chips that which he can spare, it all becomes a bigg pile, which is then distributed over the event (meaning that donations to the workshop f/e are also distributed somewhat over the party, as being part of one and the same event, and or people donate items with the party in mind (drinks f/e)) ...
This sort of means that everybody involved in these workshops, should keep them in the back of their mind as we transit to GW2, so we can pile up all the little stuff to make a couple nice prizes and throw a decent party ... and us as organizers need to also be aware that we can use GW1 prizes aswell (maybe as a sort of 'pick your prize pool' either GW1 or GW2) for those that are still somewhat busy with their HOM...
It may be all somewhat far away now, but it will come, thus best be prepaired !!

If an intermitent workshop is wanted through the year, I suggested to a few people at the party that Dragon Festival would be a very cool theme. It's in july, and thats really when things slow down for many people and more people could possibly participate.

Appart from it dealing with the same GW1 / GW2 problems as described earlier it does sound like a good theme for another workshop... possibly better than the wintersday in juli theme, as that is basically a double with the normal wintersday one... Not a bad idea Death By An Arrow ... wonder what other people think ...

It's a code just like the CD-Key you use to add expansion packs to your account. It is only usable once by typing /special, and would probably work in Pre-Searing, but I already used mine in Post-Searing (I don't really do anything in Pre-Searing).

Yeah, what they said. it was a 25-digit code you entered like when you add a new costume pack or what have you to your account. I also used mine in post, but I know the /special command works in pre-searing (i.e. limited edition accounts can get kuunavang in pre searing for example.). Its the same command so I imagine they work the same
very much enjoy the reindeer though; its so awesome! For olrun and morag, the paranoid parrot inside of me made me change my account password to something stronger. Don't want those key loggers getting a hand on my reindeer D: If you have a weak password, now might be a good time to change it.

That's so awesome! I had wondered how you'd all get them since I thought in the past winners had to trade with someone in game or something like that. Having a code seems like it would make handing out prizes soooo much easier (*wishes I had magic code abilities so I could have handed out ingame prizes during the awards more smoothly XD*).

Show us marsh! I'm sure you can paint lips better than I can, so I'd be glad to see them
Minami, that was my actual plan. LOL "Im gunna change one thing every day, and eventually I'll have this awesome password. aint NO key loggers getting into my account now!"
I fit Paranoid Parrot way to well. Dx
