But this one I just seem to care about the flaws. I'm just havin a blast with it :3 Good way to end the year I'd say, for such a s****y year. (keepin it PG!)
Any suggestions for the ice? It looks very strange.

Onstable is right, Death by an Arrow. The ice is quite dark and uniform. Don't fret though. For things like ice, and metal you need strong highlights right next to your darks to give it that shimmer. With metal these are usually very straight lines but since you have organic looking ice make sure they conform to the shape of the ice.
Oh, and also don't make them all the same size. i.e. the light area can be 3x wider than the dark strips or vice versa.
So to clarify this is exactly the opposite of your normal gradient and natural instincts. Instead of highlight>base color> darks, what you want is highlight>darkest>darks>base color> repeat.
As long as you haven't put on any fixative spray you can always alter a canvas painting.
Hope this helps.
@Thistle Xandra Thanks for clearing up the confusion on the dates. ^^ I was wondering about that myself.

Happy New Year everyone!
@Kiya: Thanks!
@Olrun: Most of the stuffs shown in the picture are made with Sculpey. The tonic bottles are clear cast resin with Sculpey caps and cores for the liquids. The molds for the resin was also made with Sculpey. The eggnog jugs consist mainly of silver and red/orange parts with grooves, with thin strands of yellow Sculpey squeezed into the aforementioned grooves. The candy canes also used thin strands of the clays twisted around together. The tip here is to make the strands longer than you would need: it ensures same candy cane sizes and the extra parts can be cut up to make candy cane shards
@Aeonwen: Super sugar-glazed fruitcake it is then ! Probably not good for health, but at the same time tasty.
Now, the progress for past two days:
I finished making the parts for the Jingle Bear Cub, and I just need to put them together, put bow, eyes, and nose on, and maybe paw pads if I can afford some time. A little on the furrier side, but who doesn't love the furries ?
p.s. pleh pleh, coughing up furballs >_<

Thanks for the tips dalili! I'll be certain to try and fix it up tomorrow when I work on it again. No fixative spray, so everything is still fair game ;D

Ugh! My little sister randomly found my Guild Wars logo lying around and thought it was cool so she just grabbed it. It took me forever to find out she had it. Whatever, I guess I'll finish it today.

Well I couldn't locate the longer coat (the woes of having a coat fettish - I have so many that I tend to forget where they are), but this one buttons and falls in a similar fashion so hopefully it's still useful. Ignore my messy, it's just a figment of your imagination.
The pics are crappy as the only full length mirror in the house also happens to be located in a room with really bad lighting near said mirror.
This the coat from the front - you don't get to see my face as I just woke up and my hair is sticking up/out all over the place.
Coat from the side, buttoned at the top only, 1 leg straight & 1 bent.
Coat from the side, unbuttoned at the top, both legs slightly bent.
Coat from the side, buttoned all the way, both legs slightly bent.
The last is the most similar to your picture, but even then as you can see the leg is still visible. If you don't want to draw legs, perhaps angle the shading for the knee more downward to follow the slope of the leg & add another button? It would be very unnatural to be standing with the leg bent so high as to come up to your chest while standing on such a slight incline, unless she has alien-like super long legs underneath that wee body.

Humm ... I think I'm done, simply because I'm super indecisive right now. Gonna wait a bit before I declare this my final entry though. Anyone have any last minute critiques??
Life lesson for today: When I write my name with a mouse it looks like a 5 year old did it.

It's currently Jan 1, 2012 - 12:31 PM PST, so less than 24 hours to go! I'm not sure if I'll be able to log exactly at noon tomorrow since we're going on a little trip, so please take care to look at this post's time stamp if you're like me and are bad at time zone conversions XD Also, if anyone asks, please feel free to point out that the deadline *is* still firm and at Jan 2, 2012, noon PST and all participants should make sure they don't edit their progress gallery or final pieces until *after* the winners are announced (Jan 15, 2012 - the Workshop Party!)
Good luck to all of you still putting on those finishing touches!

No problem Everyone, please feel free to post questions or ask for clarifications in this thread in case someone else is wondering, too Plus, we've got some great helpers around here who can help answer those questions or point you to one of my previous posts addressing the question (like, Sura and DBAA on the deadline question - thanks, you two!).

The video version is so low resolution I'd rather turn in the illustration for judging.

Finishing up... the colours got screwed up! Switched from Corel Painter X to 12, and
it seems that the colours in Painter 12 are presented somewhat messed up! :/
I don't know if I'll have the time to work it out... so this will probably be final...

@Everyone
WOW! Everyone did such an amazing job on their entrys, and I enjoyed watching you all create your masterpieces , so exciting seeing different types fo art. I was at first nervious about entering my entry in an open view for everyone to see and give (CC), but I sucked it up and entered because I didnt want my entry to go to waste. I liked the blind judgeing of the offical conest where if u dont win noone else but the judges seen your entry it was more comfortable, But I`m happy I did enter my project in this forum with many many nice and very talented artist definailty wasnt what I thought it was going to be. I`m no artist compared to many of you hehe. Last word is you all did wonderful jobs and thank you all for sharing your entrys with me.
*applauds* everyone! GREAAAAT JOB! and goodluck to everyone.

Hi everyone!
I finished my final submission!
These are all combination Screenies/Photographs of my Yakkington Sculpture!
I traveled around Guild Wars to find perfect screenshots to insert him in, I then shot photos of the sculpture against a Green Screen (Progress Pics shown in album!) and then removed the backgrounds and inserted our Professor into the scenes using a theme "Postcards From Yakkington"
My thoughts are, he traveled around to find the perfect gift for Nicholas, and these are his photos from his travels during Wintersday! Full size photos of EACH postcard are in the gallery, so please be sure and check them all out!
I put them in an arrangement so I could show them all off, with Nick viewing the photos and Professor Yakkingtons "Letter" (Hey, hes a Professor, he CAN write!) But, EACH one IS of the sculpture, so please do enjoy!!!
PLEASE be sure you view the large version of the file, and the separate images in the gallery! I couldn't think of another way to show them off, so I did this, but it CERTAINLY doesn't let you see all the details and fun images unless you view the gallery!!
And of course, the Gallery where you can view each postcard!
