@ Qing. I think it is more of a body position and scale then a head thing. And maybe a view of a quarter of a wreath to fill that space?
@ Death. Two separate entries. The quaggan will be having a makeshift portrait session done, still working out the best way to display the diorama. It feels like it is missing something.

Having some fun with Gaki-Wintersday related prose with my entry. Thought I'd better update with my changes and additions.
Trying to think of the best way to show where the 'poem' starts and stops without adding too much, or, if I should leave it in at all for fun.
Here it is... until I make final changes...

Tee Wrex, I'm still insanely jealous of just how good Yakkington came out. He is by far my favourite NPC, and is the only necessary minipet in my inventory q_q
The Yuletide Hat (santa hat) is certainly a welcome addition as well.
Kiya, perhaps you could add in some additional wintersday-related items to the grentch's stash? Could help fill in that 'something missing'.
Edit: My brain has given birth to my idea-child! And i'm quite pleased with the concept. Tomorrow I will make a more refined sketch, then transfer it on over to canvas. hopefully start painting tomorrow!

@Muzai. Her positioning and proportions seem very awkward to me. She looks stretched out. I think if her arms were fattened up a bit and torso moved up it would help bunches.

I have to agree with Kiya on that one .Its especially noticeable where her right arm meets the torso. Its sort of like "arm OHHEYBOOBS", and nothing in between.
This also made me noticed that she has a very, very thin torso. This could be stylistic but I would suggest maybe widening her torso. It looks like she doesnt have a ribcage o.O

Thanks for the advice, guys, especially the corrected drawing!
@Muzai: Yeah, her torso's pretty elongated and appears to lack a ribcage; it makes her look a little bit like she's made of elastic. I'd say widen up the torso a little and then nip it in at the waist (if you look, the human chest is sort of a triangle shape). I'd also note that her right breast needs to be set a little higher. Right now, since her arm is raised but not the breast (which would logically angle her entire chest), it looks like it's bigger than her left one.

Since we've been getting posts with final entries, please put your final entries in your progress gallery also (if possible)! If you can't, please make a note that you need me to link to that "final entry" post. But, by all means, to reduce the number of links, please add your final entries in your progress gallery if you can!

ROFL, thanks! Everything everyone needs to know about the raffle and how to vote for "The People's Award" is in that post since I'm always for giving as much info as possible to prevent confusion/questions. If you all think that form is long, feel bad for my fellow judges who got a waaaaaay longer one (love you all, judges!)

@Qing Guang: I took the liberty of making yet another "redline" on your piece as I think it's really lovely, but the girl on the right has a very awkward position. My redline isn't perfect, but hopefully you'll see a bit better how I structured it:
As Koreena pointed pointed out, the shoulder was a bit too narrow on her left. Also, it's impossible to sit like that unless you have a very nimble spine. I drew a mid line on the "model" to let you see a flowline of the body. I repositioned the shoulders too. I hope you can make sense of it. I have little to comment on the girl to the left, she looked very pretty, but her feet were a bit too small, even for a girl with tiny feet.
I hope it was allright for me to do this *wants to help out*

It's true that Gwen looks better in your version KiyaKoreena. I'll correct this.
Thank you for all your comments, I will consider in the final version, I hope you'll like it

@Arghore: Date and Time is good for me.
@KiyaKoreena: Quaggan is sooo cute ! Quaggan happy....
@Death By An Arrow: That's a very cool idea and sketch! Looking forward to the finished pic!
@obstable: your new composition looks much better! The trail in the snow is cool
@TeeWrex: That Professor Yakkington is so so cool!! I love it !
My current process: I had to get rid of the background (forest) i had planned, because it wasn't working at all in colour . Now the pic is somewhat empty. I will try to think of stuff to add, maybe the jingle bear or some presents or so. I am not satisfied with my rendering of Gwen, i wanted a kind of handdrawn feel to it, that's why i used a very, um whats the word.., coarse? brush. But now she kinda feels muddy and overpowered by the very strong highlights on the snow, what do you guys think?
Btw.: Since Wintersday ends on the second, the deadline for the workshop is the second as well, right?

In the upper right corner area'ish of your picture it looks like a blurred out tree - I dunno if you have to entirely get rid of your forest background idea, but rather than doing it in full color just go with what's there and do it subtly ... it is winter, afterall, so the trees could very well be giant pillars of snow as they are in my backyard right now
I love the expression on her face, and the colors are fantastic ... I don't think I'm seeing what you're seeing, but perhaps you still have a full color forest background stuck behind your eyes when you're viewing it.
Also, perhaps it's because I have a dirty mind, but what I think is supposed to be her knees appears to look like a rather large something else thrusting from her pants that really shouldn't be there on a girl ... errrm If you get my drift .... Mayhap let the coat drape open from below the buttons in a more natural position, and show that those are legs/knees because omg all I can picture is a giant umm .. banana.
Edit: Ok, so maybe it is just my gutter mind. I showed my hubby the pic & said, "What do you see in this picture?" and he replied, "A Hitler kid." Didn't even notice the same thing I did ....

@obstable:
OMG!! I so hadn't seen that! And now i can't see anything else... Poor Gwen... I will try to correct that IMMEDIATLY. But there is no tree in the bg, that's just texture that gives that impression, although that i can't see... Oh thanks so much for that comment, poor poor gwen, she is still too young ....
Edit: A hitler kid, that's even worse... I think i might have to scrap another pic
Edit2: I think i removed all nastiness now, at least i hope so... I gave her another snowball in the other hand, which was the plan all along, but i forgot about it sadly . I am so blind, i hadn't seen that all, the only problem i saw was that it reminded me of lion king..
Anyway i had so much fun doing that pic (not because of the banana...), that i did two more sketches, which i will paint if i have time.
Left: The Uber-Rare Drop
Right: Every Little Boys Dream

@ Sura. What is that odd fold at the second button? I thought with the second to last picture it kind of looked like she had one knee higher like climbing up the snow mound. Guess my mind isnt in the gutter. ;-)

Updated my entry post to include progress album.
It only has one photo right now, of what I've been doing for the last few days:
On a hind thought, I probably shouldn't have made the fruit cake this shiny, but too late now
Currently working on the fabric pattern for jingle bear cub.
Update: finished the pattern. Sewing some fluffiness next!

@KiyaKoreena: That really is just an odd fold, remnant from the old position (you got it right, one feet higher on the snow was my intention ). I will remove the odd fold at a later time.
