I'm glad I decided to change from my initial "Kormir and Lyssa join the other gods in a snowball fight" idea. Knew snowball fights would be too common.
Because my laptop's charger went kaput the other day, I won't be able to work on my story for a while outside my trips the the library (my back is screaming in pain already), but the current idea for my entry (decided on a story with illustrations, 2-3 pics plus cover, if I have time) is this: Sinterklass is a norn, hunter and loner. One day he is visited by a Spirit of the Wild (not sure which or why yet, maybe he's cursed or displeased the spirit), who tells him to give gifts to the poor. So... What can a lonesome hunter give out? All he has are weapons and trophies. And who are poor? Well, those puny Krytans can't seem to fend for themselves, so they certainly need weapons!
So what is Sinterklass to do but run around tossing dead animals and weapons at folks?
No matter how I think of the plot, it comes to be more of a comedy... But I want that Shiro tonic... *.*
@Murke: Norn do not come as white bears. But kodan do, though they are probably nowhere to be seen during GW1, living on ice beef cities and all.
And I'm amazed the norn doesn't swipe her head clean off for trying to put such silly things on him/her. o.o

Yush... Just hard to do with no comments
I feel as though either my piece is pretty sound, or just uninteresting. Both of which would be unfortunate since I've been looking for people to critique all of my recent stauffs D:
PS - I love the other pieces and progressions so far.
@Murke: I think you should keep Gwen's dress as is; it looks more festive and holiday-ish ^^
Maybe add a santa hat? :3

Here's an update, changed a few things. Was originally going to draw Gwen and Keiran throwing snowballs at eachother, but I <3 Pyre too much to leave him out.

Idea for entry: Dwayna Stained Glass Window
Art form type: digital
Progress Gallery Link: See my art thread
-------------------------------------------
Idea finalised and first sketch
I want to make a digital illustration of a feisty, powerful and glamorous Dwayna, but I don't want to stick to "just" a painting. I've taken huge inspiration from a stained glass window style called Tiffany, which is a more modern take on traditional stained glass and is all about the colours. Here are two pieces I fell in love with:
http://i42.tinypic.com/2lb03h2.jpg
http://i40.tinypic.com/30t3x1v.jpg
So I want to try and present my painting in that style. It'll be a challenge to pull off but I kinda have a history of picking the hard way
Onwards and Upwards!

sorry for doublepost, but I wanted to keep the entry post and feedback seperate
@ Murke: love what you've done so far, I enjoy the idea and the colours look lovely. it's a really christmassy piece. I don't have a problem with the droopy lip, it's what bears do so I think it's all right! He doesn't however look particularly angry, perhaps pull his brows down more? Gwen is lovely (although I get the shivers just looking at her in that dress in the snow XD), the detail on the flowers is amazing! I think the lips could do with a bit more definition, they look a bit flat compared to the eyes and hair. I'm really excited to see where you're taking this though!
@ Valdis: cool sketch, I'm always excited to see people do something "dark". there's not much to be criticised yet, apart from the face which looks good! I like the brush you used for the yellow parts, but would advise not to overdo using it Is grenth going to be doing something? I can't tell right now, and I think it would improve your piece if there was some sort of action, so it's not "just" a painting of grenth
@ Draken: really like the second sketch, there's a lot of detail in it already. Gwen and Pyre really came out nice! Good going!
@ Konig: lol I ADORE your idea for a story, that could be totally epic! Reminds me of the Northmen in Joe Abercrombie's books ("The Sword Itself" and follow-ups), you MUST write this XD

@ Murke
Nice detail put into it thus far. But Gwen looks like she's nearly tipping over. Maybe it's just me but the stance she's in seems a little forced.
@ Morag
I would love to see what you're going for. Would be 10x more epic if you actually made stained glass of your concept instead of digital.
@ Valdis
So far so good, is there going to be anything else in the picture?
@ Konig
Would be a great story idea, should do a small illustration for it too.

@ Draken Burst: Gwen giving a present to Pyre (despite her hatred for Charr) is a very nice touch there and I don't say this because I wanted to draw my characters throwing snowballs into each other's face too . I also like how you edited Pyre to be in the foreground with Gwen, it really gives this strong sense of Wintersday Spirit on the first sight.
@ Morag D: Nice sketch, loving the wings. Can't wait to see the next step of the progress
@ Murke: Not sure if white furred bear forms exist (well, why shouldn't they actually) but if you are still unsure about him, you could always change the proportions and make it a Kodan. They are basically sentinent polar bears. Just a suggestion since you are already considering to change Gwen's outfit (which you did really awesome btw, would be a shame).

@Morag D - THe underlying sketch that I hide when I upload it hides what he is doing. Currently his left arm is held up with his fingers all creepily extended (the idea is to put a frost type spell in his hand, kind of like he is holding winter). The other arm is extended downwards. I was considering extending the painting a bit outwards and down, and painting the souls of the dead as well as his followers groveling to him this Wintersday.
Any suggestions on an interesting, intimidating action he could do is appreciated!
As for the evil glowy eyes and such. All the other parts of his armor, even though the rib features look kind of thick, those will by very small cracks in the armor, and it'll just be a hint of that dead energy stuffs leaking out a bit.
Also, as a sub-caption, I was thinking of adding "winter will never end" under/above the ALL HAIL GRENTH thingy :j
Thanks for the feedback! Lemme post it up with the sketch:

added some main lines for orientation. Sketch isn't finalised, I haven't quite decided what she's going to wear. I'll also probably make the lines more organic in a later version, but as I said, these are for orientation to see where the main shapes are
@ Valdis: that makes it much more understandable, looks cool! Hmm... maybe he could be crushing something associated with spring/summer in his hand when you say winter will never end?

@Baktwerel: Thanks!! ^-^ And yus, there will be a chilling, freezing background with snow, along with those wintery highlights on his armor and cloaks (gotta make it look cold right? ;D)
If possible, I might try adding icicles to the tips of his armor.
@Morag D: I could go to the extreme of anti-spring and really creep the judges out by having him hold a disembodied Dwayna's head XD
PS - I really like that Stained glass window format!!! The style of panes you did just looks amazing ^^
<-- Wants to see it continued
@Draken Burst: Looks great! I love the look of worry on the charr's face XD
What ya all think? I seem to think that would make people do a double take... :P

That sounds like an awesome plan. I didn't even think about icicles but I like the idea

still cant think of an idea still cant think of an idea still cant think of an idea DDDDD:
too much school going on, havent had time to think about the idea. Any time I have had has been vacuumed away by skyrim. And legend of zelda comes out today, so there goes all that time D:
Best of all, my winter break doesnt start until the 24th of december. so i believe im still in school with the deadline.
Need to come up with an idea quickly if i'm gunna find time to paint this. I'm also going to go traditional, probably acrylic, again. I still dont have all the settings worked out for my tablet, it keeps making this REALLY annoying pinging-wave-image whenever I click with the pen, but not the mouse. and I cant change the setting for it for whatever reason :|

For your tablet and pen, I had the same problem. I think I fixed it via the preferences window for the tablet. Hope that helps :]
You can do eet! We all believe in you!!! -cheers Death on-
Just go all ninja on your school and all that!
@Minami: You aught to make one of the Asura fat and bearded, like a grandpa type. I'd vote for that any day
Sounds great though, can't wait to see! ^^

Do you happen to know where in the preferences? I've tried every menu I can think of to find it. the closest I've come is a window that lets me change settings for different types of clicks (i.e. single, double, right, hold). I used to have this annoying function where if you held down, it would right click for you. I could change this in the previously mentioned menu.
My problem is, I figure I can turn off the function in that window but under single click. the catch? Its the only option I cant pick because it is greyed out/unclickable
I might start brainstorming later today if I can finish building my current bio project. The real catch is I have another bio project due around the 13th, and its my summative project. So up until the 13th I'll likely be researching and building [it, too, requires a model] my presentation. But we have 4 days of presentations, so if I go day one I can be homeworkless for 4 days. Thatll be the best time for me to get in a lot of work. Unless Anet decides to make an even earlier due date >

If you look at the image closely, you'll see those aren't ribs but rather straps. Grenth's avatar looks more like a disembodied outfit with a green glow where skin should be. If you note, that highest "rib outlining" shouldn't be there, and they should be closer together - basically, where the ribcage ends is where these straps begin. Though it's a little different on this concept art, where it begins a bit under the collar bone.
