She hasn't posted wips in here, but I can advice everyone to visit Murke's DeviantART, because her work in progress is already showing great skill! Check first page for the link

Thank you tommy! I've been trying to get around to posting my wips here...I just forget or get distracted.
My updated idea is Gwen decides that a jingle moa and bear aren't enough. She needs a jingle norn. Do norn bears come in polar bear? If not we'll just say she dyed someone white.
I'm thinking of changing gwen's outfit for her brotherhoood armor. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:...hood_armor.jpg It just seems more christmas-y to me. Not to mention warmer.
Vladis: That is a properly epic looking Grenth. He looks amazing so far!

Ah, no GW2 category? Oh well, I will still give it a try since Halloween Workshop was a lot of fun I am planning to draw my future GW2 characters this time. Decided on the theme already but I won't reveal it yet :P
Also good job by the contestants so far!

holy buhhhh Murke that is looking awesome so far! One question: what is in/around the bear/norn's mouth? I see the teeth, and then a long droopy lip. Looks a little funny. Love what you've done with your brush strokes and the fur!

Brandylynn, that looks fabulous Thanks again for doing that *hug*
Baktwerel, lol, Minami asked about a GW2 category, too, and I pointed out that the awards are set up to be inclusive (so 90% of the entrants aren't locked out of an award like back when we had lit only and GW2 only category). Buuuut, if we get lots of GW2 entries and a lot of demand for it, then you bet a GW2 category will be back (but don't forget, you still have a shot at winning ANY of the awards with a GW2 entry!)

@death by an arrow Thank you! Nothing, my ref picture has the odd long droopy lip thing, but I'm seriously considering just closing it's mouth.
http://browse.deviantart.com/resourc...q=bear#/dgox0p I think was my ref for the face.
I was so worried about the fur. This is the first time I've ever drawn fur digitally, and the only time I've drawn fur at all in years. So I am really happy it turned out.

Bahah, Angry Bear is not the vibe I get from that photo! He is far too derpy to be angry
I would agree with closing the mouth, if that is how you want to do it. Even just removing the lip thing-y but keeping the mouth open would work as well; which ever one is easiest to do at this stage in the painting.
Do you by chance have a tutorial you could make, or one you are using as reference yourself, that you could share for the fur? It really does look nice.

Murke, that fur tutorial is pretty awesome, thanks for sharing! I was a bit o___O at the skills of that person.
I've been thinking about what to enter but haven't finalised an idea yet, I'll fill in the entry form as soon as I know what I'm doing

<_< I knew I should have reveal my idea for an entry in my last post ... a snowball showdown between my GW2 characters... now it will look like as if I took Draken's idea (which looks pretty cool so far) whereas I started to sketch the scenery yesterday after I posted here xD (and here I thought only Sura was unlucky with someone else posting almost exactly the same thing here she was plotting to draw since weeks)
Dammit... Oh well, I will try to think of something else... or still do it. By the way, is it possible to qualify for the best progress categories if I only post the progress gallery after I finished the piece? Because I don't like to reveal my half-done artwork until it's actually finished... But if that's the only way to qualify at more categories...

@ Baktwerel: having been a judge this year for the Halloween workshop, I'd say that best progress includes showing what you have when you have it, get critique on it and improve based on that critique. In a way, showing your progress is an integral part of the workshop - otherwise we could call it a contest and job done. That's my personal opinion though, other people may see it differently

Just to clarify, the contest is supposed to be completely fun so you should only do what you feel comfortable showing In previous workshops, I didn't really post my actually lit pieces as I went along, but I did post thought processes and some excerpts when I really liked something or wanted feedback.
As Morag mentioned, if you're quiet and submit a gallery at the very end of just pictures, then you'll probably be out of the running for this award - mostly because we can't see how you fulfilled the criteria for the reward.
Buuuut... this is about personal growth and workshop participation as well, so if you add descriptions such as in a blog of how you made changes between WiPs and seek advice about problems you are currently facing (general questions where you don't have to show your complete art piece, maybe just little sections so we know what you want help on) then I personally believe that's acceptable

I see. Well I guess I will submit the progress as it happens and see how I can improve the artwork. Who knows, maybe I will like sharing the progress. Thanks for the responses
