I am revamping things on the DA page. I've been horribly inactive and will properly apologize for it. :] I am busy today and tomorrow doing my compass testing for University. My rat is also being put down... I will be back on Tuesday to get things done.
EDIT: Also PM'd you about being a judge and the possibility of talking about a few revamps here and there.

I could definitely do a blog post about the workshop on DA, Unless Sierra really wanna write it :X
I could probably do the wiki page too, unless you need a login... I could get one of those? *hums to myself* And I would be glad if some people would help edit some info on it in case I forgot about it.

Oi, thats fast, great work Thistle!
I'll go and try to enter this contest, I always liked Wintersday a lot more then Halloween. I'll let my mind bubble for now.

what Tommy said.
I like that it's starting early, to give people a chance to get their ideas together. Not saying I'll actually be able to put something together, but I find Wintersday a lot more motivating (in the sense that it's freer in the choice of topics) than Halloween, and would love to participate again.
Not sure I'm awfully happy about an early deadline though, the chances of me being able to participate properly rise exponentially with how much of the workshop period is within my Christmas break. I'm not particularly interested in the official contest, so it would be a bummer having to rush something just to be able to participate in the workshop (which isn't the point, I think).

Oh! Just to clear up, the current deadline for submission is 24 hours after the official GW contest, just like in past workshops. The Halloween workshop ended a week after the official one, because the official one had a deadline that was a week earlier than expected and the workshop deadline was already set(although correct me if I'm wrong, Verene!).
Would people like having the workshop deadline a week after the official one ends instead of 24 hours? This is totally doable if people liked how the Halloween workshop gave extra time. Only downside is that judging would take a bit longer. I'd love to hear thoughts on this
EDIT: Oh, and thanks Gemini for trying to figure out the wiki thing and thanks Aero for posting in GW2guru <3

hehe I just thought I'd add my 10cents to the deadline discussion which seems to have sprung up on page 1. 24h after official seems fine, although personally I wouldn't mind extra time at all. What date is the official contest deadline? do we know that yet? I have a vague feeling it was pretty early last year, which is why my entry didn't progress past a sketch

Idea for entry: Snow ball fight of epic proportions.
Art form type:Traditional or Digital, haven't decided yet.
Progress Gallery Link:
First progress.
Update: Made a few changes.
Update: Started inking, the smuging was bothersome. Added M.O.X
Update: Started coloring what I could since I can't ink anything right now.
Update: Started inking and coloring again, made some major changes.
Update: DX I had no idea how hard it was to try to draw the northern lights with colored pencils.. I spent hours just blending that small section in the top corner. What a pain. And yes, the sky is a mess right now, but I'm sporadic when it comes to coloring so I just kind of jump all over the place.

So I went ahead and made the Wiki page: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Wintersday_Workshop
Now feel free to poke at it if you feel it needs a facelift or three in text or layout. If you dunno how to edit the text (it is really easy, you will probably understand what to do once you've hit edit) you could poke me to change it.

Alright i am really good at wiki pages so if you need help there let me know.
Also I was wondering you said Fan sites, I am in productions at Blade Radio.com and I can work up a ad to advert it also. I know Guild Mag and what not are with Gwen. But i figured what the Hey more could be good. Let me know if you want this Thistle. And if ya'll need help with anything else let me know!
Also for a prize i would like to throw in a personal Background for one of the winners. So you can put that where ever. (photoshop work ftw. haha)

Hey, Thistle! I want to participate in the workshop!
Name: Sierraa
Idea for entry: Snowfall in Elona?
Art form type: Writing/Short-story
Progress Gallery Link: http://sierraa.me
On a side note, I dislike the quotes for the entries, I feel like there's too many :< I think if you'd like to use quotes use quote="Name of Person". I would also like to offer hosting for galleries and blogs if people want it. Just send me a PM. I can also throw together a list of places to put your gallery and my thoughts/mini review on them. :]
EDIT: I suck at remembering to put all my thoughts in one post. Seriously. I was going to mention that you can use highlight tags instead of bold for the submission template. Might make it easier to see. See mine for example above!

Lol, the quotes are more for grouping, not one for each entry. I'm actually splitting the groups into "groups with finished entries", "group 1 with progress gallery," and "group 2 without progress gallery." Since you have a progress gallery, you started up another group! :P
Didn't know about the [highlight] code :O
Also, I thought you wanted to be a judge (need to double-check PM to see if I read it wrong >_<)? Did you want to be a judge in one of the categories and enter the others? Otherwise, if you are a judge, the only category you could win would be "People's Award" and "Wintersday Spirit Award."

I do! I would like to participate without winning anything? I'd like the feedback and the motivation more than anything if that's okay. :]

After having read some of the comments to my 'rules on entry' i feel the need to clarify some things ...
1a. I would prefer the signing up to close say 10day or 1 week before the official contest deadline. This singing up doesn't have anything to do with when people submit their work! But it does prevent people from submitting their official contest piece into this workshop, without sharing progress and participating in the workshop... It also means that when signing up closes people know exactly how many people are part of the contest, there are no surprise entries at the last moment ... (aka. this means that Morag for example can just sign up now, and work on the art when there is time, even if this is in the final week. We all know she is participating and that is just fine! ) ... I too prefer as little restrictions, but tbh. i was rather disappointed to see someone enter a GW2 art piece at the last moment and snag that GW2 prize away from me at that very last moment. I do not blame anyone for this, and i was happely surprized to see the person post up progress, but had i known in advance i might have done something different, or would have seen it comming, the at the very last moment thing ticked me off somewhat though ... and here again to stress, I do not mind competition, if more people go for a similar catagory that is all the better for that catagory and stimulates all artists in that catagory to give it their best, and i do not mind loosing to somebody that is better! But seeing it comming and learning from the experience is lost if that person jumps in at the last moment, that is what I would like to prevent with this 'rule' ...
1b. I am all for giving the workshops more exposure to draw in more artist! I have send in a short article to GuildMag (seeing i have resigned from GuildMag very recently) that hopefully will be posted somewhere this week ... The following webpage: http://www.guildwars.com/community/fansites/ gives a very recent view of all active community sites, if anyone here is also active on one of those sites don't hasitate to PM head-moderaters to ask them if it is ok to promote the workshop on their site, seeing i think the list is way to big for just Thistle to promote it. Don't just make a thread!! as some sites have explicit rules about these kind of things, and making a such a thread may well get you an instant ban and thread removal. So always ask for premission first ! ... I will try and get some more exposure for the workshop on gw-en by making an advert and asking them to air it
2. The actual deadline for submission, i rather liked the extra week, not just because people get some extra time if they don't make the official deadline, to still have a chance in this workshop (given they signed up in time, see 1). But it also gives us some time to receive some extra feedback on the final pieces. Especially when it comes down to making a collage of your work this can help people improve. Seeing the final pieces tend to be released here after the official deadline has passed, to prevent people sending in your work as their own, some feedback can only be given after this official deadline. Thus having an extra week to perfect your work of art sounds like a good thing to do in relation to the workshop...
