Fanfic of your Guild Wars 2 character/ancestral heritage
Feel free to post a fanfic or a history bio of your GW1/2 characters, as well as the thing that is going to link them. (The characters you link through Hall of Monuments.)
This is a short history of why the Morgan family name is famous, as well as where my character will be come Guild Wars 2. Enjoy and post your own heritage stories as well; all is encouraged!
Sorry if it was a little too Mary-Sueish, but it was too much fun to not make it that way; it's fun being a great hero.
Morgan Family Battle Standard/Crest
(It's the emblem from the Draconic Shield )
The Morgan family had a modest presence within Sunspear society. Therefore, when Ephraim and Kal (Kaldir) Morgan reached the age of adulthood, they had their aptitudes tested by the Sunspear, as was customary of honorable families in Istan.
Ephraim, the braver of the two brothers, trained in the ways of the Paragon, and was sent to Ascalon to help those of the land, practicing and honing his abilities as a Paragon and as a leader.
Kal, who was recognized as a spiritual savant, was sent to Cantha, where he trained under a famed hero of the Tengu war and brother to Emperor Kisu, Master Togo.
In Ascalon, Ephraim was present when the Charr assaulted the great city; he took part in the great exodus as a pupil of King Adelburn’s son, Rurik.
He assisted in evacuating the exiles of Ascalon to Lion’s Arch, and in pushing the White Mantle and their masters to the burning ring of islands in the south-west.
After achieving Ascendance and convening with the crystal Dragon, Glint, on the Flameseeker prophecy, Ephraim assisted in defeating an extremely powerful lich named Vizier Khilbron, who was attempting to control an army of dark monstrosities known as the Titans with the Scepter of Orr, an ancient Orrian artifact.
Hailed as a hero, Ephraim came back to Lion’s Arch and assisted Queen Salma as an advisor, helping the people of her united Kryta, as well as dealing with the remaining threat of the White Mantle.
Months later, he set sail to Cantha to observe Kal’s progress, curious as to his little brother’s own adventures.
Arriving at the docks of Kaineng city, he discovered the plague of affliction that had ravaged Cantha, and hefought his way to Shing Jea, where he joined up in a pincer attack on the freshly afflicted Minister Cho’s estate, cleansing the afflicted from Shing Jea.
After him, Ephraim, Togo and Togo’s pupils met up with Brother Mhenlo and the Ascalonian heroes, Kal completed the trial of the stars and became Weh No Su so that he could go into spiritual combat with Shiro, under the blessing of the Envoys.
After gaining the temporary alliance of the Kurzicks and the Luxons, Ephraim and his allies battled their way through armies of afflicted, through the streets of Cantha, until they reached an embattled Raisu Palace.
In the battle against Shiro’s forces, Togo died, and Kal was injured physically and mentally by one of the Shiro’ken. During the final battle, Shiro used this to slay Kal when Kal engaged him in personal spiritual combat in an attempt to seal his soul away.
Losing both Kal and Master Togo, an enraged Ephraim summoned the spirits of Archemorus and Saint Viktor to fight Shiro alongside him, just as the battle between Vizu and Shiro had occurred 200 years ago.
With passion and fury yet to be seen from the young, fiery paragon, a weakened Shiro was finally felled and his spirit was sealed away by the Envoys.
Cantha, for the most part, was saved, and Ephraim and his surviving allies were hailed as heroes.
During the post-war period of recovery, Ephraim was gifted two powerful artifacts by the dragon Kuunavaang, who quipped that two dragons now owe Ephraim their allegiance.
One artifact, Myrzad, was one of the famed and powerful fiery dragon swords, the likes of which only fell into the hands of kings and heroes.
The other was a sentient and ominous greatsword that simply went by the name of The Fellblade; the blade required a constant, powerful will to retain it, and so it was kept under lock and key by Ephraim in a personal chest that he took with his other personal things.
Three months later, with the blessings of two nations, and with the sad news of his brother’s death, Ephraim left Cantha for Elona.
Ephraim arrived amidst heartwarming greetings from his childhood community, and informed his family not only of his grand adventures, but of his brother’s death as well.
His family was saddened, but was also gushing with pride at the fact that their family name could produce such heroic adventurers as the two brothers; in honor of Kal’s memory, the family held a ceremony to celebrate his life.
During the celebration, the Spearmarshal Kormir arrived and informed Ephraim that the Sunspears would be honored to accept him as an honorary general within their ranks, an honor which Ephraim had dreamed of since his days in Ascalon.
Accepting his new rank within the Sunspears, Kormir invited him to join her on an expedition to Farahnur, an ancient Sunspear city that had just been unearthed in the distant lands of Istan.
There, they discovered an ancient force called the Apocrypha that had allegedly been unleashed by General Kahyet of Kourna under the order of Varesh Ossa, to reak havoc on Istan.
Kormir and Ephraim came back to Kamadan and joined in on a trial against the Sunspears for the death of Kahyet just in time to save the trial and call for war with Kourna.
Though the Kamadan Elders were hesitant, they agreed, and Ephraim joined the effort to go to war with Kourna.
Joining an Istani invasion force on Gandara, Ephraim led his forces from the left side to flank the grand city’s outer embankments, successfully leading yet another pincer attack and breaching Gandara’s inner walls.
After the Sunspears breached the walls and defeated the force commanders,
Varesh Ossa summoned an army of Abbaddon’s demons to attack the invading force, ending the Istani invasion and routing the Sunspears.
They were scattered, Kormir was captured, and Ephraim and another famed general, Dunkoro, were left in charge of those who still remained.
After rescuing a large group of Sunspear prisoners, as well as the war hero Koss, Ephraim led the Sunspears to the sea where they made a deal with Margrid the brigand to sail back to Istan.
Back in Kamadan, the Elders were furious, but they all agreed that Varesh had to be stopped; they suggested that Ephraim go to Vabbi to enlist the aid of the three lavish princes against Varesh.
Despite this unlikely plan, Ephraim agreed and, after a short reunion with his family, set sail back to the coast of Kourna so that he and the rest of the Sunspears could act as emissaries of Istan.
The Vabbian princes, however, would not hear of any treaty with the enemies of their so called protector and friend, Varesh. It took an assassination attempt to persuade the Vabbian princes to join in the struggle against Varesh, and soon the struggle began again; this time, with Vabbi’s financial support.
Meanwhile, after enlisting the aid of Vabbi, Ephraim and a group of elite soldiers infiltrated Gandara and retrieved Kormir, who had been blinded, leading her back to the Sunspears.
With Vabbi’s support, and their great Spearmarshal back in her place, the Sunspears fought back the Kournans and eventually routed them in battle, forcing Varesh back to the land of Desolation, where no man could survive unless they were either dead, or Margonites.
Knowing that Palawa Joko, the ancient bane of Elona, knew a way to get across the land of Desolation, Kormir and Ephraim decided to release him from Turai Ossa’s bindings in order to find the way, inadvertently unleashing the ancient lich back unto Elona with unknown but adverse consequences.
During Palawa Joko’s awakening, Abbaddon summoned a portal and abducted Kormir, leaving Ephraim in-charge of the small force of Sunspears.
Palawa led them to the wurm spools of the Jormundur, the great sand fairing wurms that could be tamed in order to travel across the great, sulfurous wastes.
Ephraim defeated and tamed the great Jormundur, Aijundu, and used her and her brood to cross the land of Desolation and defeat a large guard of Margonites called the Hordes of Darkness.
After defeating this powerful army, Ephraim chased down the remaining forces of Varesh to the Ruins of Morrah, defeating her once and for all; however, she was still able to open the portal to Nightfall, bringing it upon the unsuspecting world.
Knowing that there was only one way to stop the madness of Nightfall, Ephraim and a small force of powerful adventurers went into the portal to Nightfall, entering the Realm of Madness that was home to the imprisoned god Abbaddon.
Like a true hero of legend, Ephraim stood out as a beacon of hope against all odds, and like a fearless warrior he led his men into the heart of darkness itself; meeting up with Kormir one last time, and then Ephraim began the final assault on the holdings of the dark god.
He faced lands of pain, terror, confusion and agony.
He faced old armies of Titans and Shiro’ken, the underlings of once-great adversaries.
He even fought armies of an exiled god named Dhuum, the one who wrestled control of the Underworld from Grenth.
Eventually he encountered both of the greatest enemies that he’d ever faced; Vizier Khilbron and Shiro, who he had to face at the same time.
However, the brave Paragon had become much stronger since his time in Tyria and Cantha; with his experience as a leader and his prowess as a warrior, he quashed these two dark lieutenants and freed the ancient temple of the six gods.
After destroying his old nemeses, Ephraim joined Kormir in one last plea to the gods for their assistance; they, however, decided that the fate of mankind must fall to the hands of mankind; thus began the second great exodus of the gods.
Imparting Kormir with one last gift, the gods vanished from their ancient and powerful temple, leaving mankind to their own destiny.
Ephraim gave one last fiery speech to his loyal Sunspears, filling even Kormir’s sullen heart with hope, before leading that final charge into the heart of madness itself, engaging the dark god in a titanic battle for all life on Tyria.
In an act of mortal defiance, Ephraim did the unthinkable; he struck down the Dark God of Secrets once and for all, leading to victory for the Sunspears and the final end of Nightfall, bringing dawn back to the denizens of Tyria.
However, the energies released by Abbaddon’s death were beginning to grow out of control and Kormir realized that her god-given gift was to absorb this energy and become the new Goddess of Truth before it destroyed everything.
In her own act of mortal defiance, the blind Kormir charged forth and took in the power of the fallen God, combining her soul and its power to create a new god; the Goddess of Truth, Kormir.
Though saddened to have lost another mentor and friend, Ephraim finds his greatest pride; he pledges himself and his future generation to becoming Champions of Truth, spreading the spirit and word of Kormir throughout the lands.
Ultimately, Ephraim fought against the tide of undeath that he released when he and Kormir brought Palawa Joko back to life.
He lost his life standing up against the dark lich; a single orderly bell in a cacophonous symphony of Palawa’s wrath.
Though he fought Palawa Joko, he was a grand adversary worthy of the lich’s respect; Palawa allowed the Morgan family to survive and continue to carry out the Word of Truth in secret.
As the order of Sunspears transformed into a sect of wondering priests and sole heroes, so too did the Morgan family.
In fact, select groups of surviving Sunspears were devoted to preserving the lifeblood of the Morgan bloodline in hopes that the great family will one day give birth to great heroes such as Ephraim and Kal.
Hopefully this day will come soon, as the needs of the people of Tyria are great. Palawa Joko must be stopped, the dragons must be defeated and the humans of Tyria must regain their footing in the world.
In the meantime, the Morgan family heritage carries with it a sense of wealth and power; those with ties to Ephraim and the Morgan family are proud to say that they were a part of the heroic history of Tyria.
Though not entirely so, one may say that anyone with the last name Morgan may innately consider himself "high class."
(This is where my Guild Wars 2 character, Ragnar Morgan, comes into play; his bloodline has been recently rediscovered by the remainder of the Sunspear order, and so they will observe from the distance and guide him where he needs it, along with the Order of the Whispers.
He will end up with the Fellblade after they give him the relics of his great forefather Ephraim. Later on, he may or may not search for Myrzad.
Also, he will become a devote follower of Kormir.)
More later guys, thanks for reading!
