In the pic of Ala its only 1 type of brush you have in Painter: Oil Pastels (then I picked a rough one). No textures used
The new pic of the Warden (and upcoming Mina ) is getting drawn in Photoshop, which has a few custom brushes in the back and just standard brushes on the warden. In the back of the warden is a custom brush which I based on a grunge texture, so its kind of like using a grunge texture But its all Photoshop though.

Wish I had more time and more focus, but youtube is so interesting!
Doodling a bit more on Mina's work, first skin of her showing, quick basing of colors. Really getting faster at getting quick acceptable shapes
For those interested in following progress or find it educateding (though I detest my own methods of working and would never advice it )

@ Gemini: Don't be. The hardest part with painting is (at least that way I experience it) is anatomy and choosing colors. Not the painting itself. And since you have a sense of anatomy and color already, just give it a go, I'm sure you'll do great.
@Mina: Glad you're liking it so far, next wip is probably coming up tomorrow, I think you're going to like it ^^ And as a side note: this painting is so far fullly done in Photoshop, not painter. Though painter has some very fancy brushes, I'm still used to the layout and speed of photoshop. Allows me a lot more layers before slowing down and easier to adjust colors.

I'm doing that fair try on shadeblade's commission, takes forever though as I need to figure how I'm supposed to make texture >_<

I love how well-defined the muscles are on your painted characters Tommy. It's something I'm almost always neglecting in my art xD
I'll admit I'm not actually sure what's going on right now -- are these commissions or are you picking characters to do a series of paintings of the different professions?

gah; this one makes me speechless ._.
Do wardens have the sort of closed/sealed mouths? I've never really looked at them hard enough before, but if they don't they deffinatly should! I really like the colour balance too, it makes Mina sort of pop more and puts the warden in the shadows - which I'm thinking is intended since its sort of dark/scary. I mean, it doesn't have a mouth

@ Gemini: Why you need texture? The only texture I use in Mina's work is behind the warden. You can make very beautiful things without texture. If you want to use a texture, all I can suggest is find a texture you like (just an image that suits), make that image black & white, drop it above the layers you want the texture to be on, then set the layer to a different mod, 90% of the times I do that its either multiply or overlay, whatever looks better and play around with the opacity. Then remove the parts you don't like
@ Araiia: Thnx I really like drawing muscles so its something I tend to give most attention in paintings. I love to draw human skin rather then cloths and all. And I'll admit I don't know what I'm doing now either I'm just doing what I'm feeling like lately. No need for IG money anymore, so I wouldn't call them commissions as they are all free. Sometimes I'm on dA and I think, ah that would be cool for X and Y chars, or I just get an idea randomly, like this time, I wanted a mesmer really mesmerizing a foe, making it totally willless (if I spelled that correctly that means that word has a lot of l's ). So its not really structured to pass all professions or somthing.
@DBAA: I'll take speechlessness as a compliment I have no idea about the wardens IG. I didn't even bother to look at screens To me, the wardens where always Wardens of the Forest. I always thought it cool as a sort of lore-background that they grew from the forest itself and had the humans living in it as example. From that point I went on and tried a bit of augmenting flesh/root kind of skin and I wanted them to be a bit more slim and althletic instead of really bulky I believe the GW models to be. Then I just wanted them to be less humanoid and more monstrous so I sealed that mouth, didnt give it eyes. Perhabs I'll have some roots grow over it or something later, dunno.
More progress, sorry Mina, no face yet for you! Detailed her body a bit and gave her some cloths. Kind of a Nornish interpretation of OC Mina's cloths

I see it! And I totally do. Always love seeing artists' personal take on my characters
The warden also looks so realistic. It's amazing.
I actually saw tutorials that use both painter and photoshop. Some use painter to paint *sounds redundant* then touch ups in photoshop.
Others actually paint in Photoshop and then uses the special brushes on painter for some subtle textures or that traditional painting feel.

I totally agree with this (although referring to my art, not Araiia's )
This looks so cool so far... really digging the spell effects around her hands and the warden, too!

@Raven: Yay, glad you like it And yes, starting in Painter and doing touch ups in PS is a great way of working, haven't tried it the other way around. I just need to get a bit more familiar with it untill I will use Painter more.
@ Thistle: Thnx! Again, I <3 Muscles
So very little progress the upcoming days, little busy. Haven't decided yet on Mina's face, it I want it a bit more bent over, looking a bit more seductive, or more straight up and looking down on the warden from the corner of her eyes.
Started adding the first plating on the Warden, gave him some Axe, as the only melee weapons they used are those spiked clubs so I picked some other echovald forest weapon. If they can drop 'm I'm sure they'd wield them too
Placeholder ravens, don't like them yet.

Bit more progress. Small changes to the wardens face and gave mina a bit more of a porcelain skin. Not happy with her face yet, it needs more power, I just don't exactly know how to. Suggestions are welcome

This one looks really promising, can't wait to see it finished. But that reminds me. You did one of Frostkisses too but I don't think you finished that one? Unless I missed it somewhere. Also, isn't Mina's dress connected in the back aswell (the purple clothing part I mean) instead of those ropes?

This is incredible. Especially the zombie/undead thingy and the axe and the ravens and all of it.
Just one thing: something about the girl's face is bothering me, and I can't point my finger on it. Not that you should change it, I'm just making observations.
Oh I think it's cuz it doesn't look like she's looking at that guy in the bottom left. Maybe move the eyes to the bottom left of her eyes ^_^ and the tones just don't seem to match her face to the rest of her body (her face looks like it has a purple/pink hue)
Again just a suggestion <3 amazing, amazing work tommy

Looking great Tommy! I do like the face but maybe she just looks a little too happy? But if that was the intention then that looks fine to me! Gah! Sorry I can't help!
@IH - I gave Tommy the free reign to modify her costume according to his interpretation

@ IH: She has a 2 'lappen stof (te lui het woord op te zoeken )' which are connected with the strings. So its there, you just don't see it. And haven't finished Frostkisses & Verenes piece, but will do so in the near future
@Shy Guy: Thnx Yeah the face bothers me too, can't put my finger on it either And indeed is has a very pink hue. Normally when drawing faces I tend to put more reds in it, to make a face more stand out (higher contrast as well). So I figured I could do the same with a pinkish tone. I like it, maybe its a bit of an overkill, so I'll try to tone it down a little!
@Raven: Thnx The thing that bothers me most is her mouth I wanted to (after trying a lot of different things) give her a grin smile. Zoomed at 100% it looks ok, but at this size it looks strange. Same goes for the other attempts. I tried putting in a bit of a femme fatale look (mouth halve open) showing some vampire fangs, but if just looked like she had huge frontal teeth when zoomed out I'll have to try it out some more

ok right now I want to punch Mina in the face, because the face keeps turning out strange, maybe I can punch it out of there I'll leave it be for a while
So went on with Verene & Frost. Sadly, that face is annoying me as well! Conclusion: I suck and need to get better with faces. Perhaps throw her face backwards, to show some more power? Because this face looks passive as well :/
Edit: It's gonna be a Lyssa dervish after all! Btw, Verene, any scythe you prefer?
