Had to log in to express my jaw drop. Amazing animation again, really great work on the fire in the bottom right in the end. Only little point of critique is that maybe the Jotun vanishes a bit too fast But either way, great work, every time I see this I want to do such animations toO!

Thanks Toms, glad you like it. I actually tried playing around with the slower disintegration animation, but I liked the quicker and more intense version.
Also, and it's gonna' sound bad no matter how I say this, I took some notes from the atomic bomb studies. I wanted the idea that the heat was so intense that the giant instantly turned to carbon/charcoal, and the pursuing blast wave would just blow away all the remaining ash. The slower version didn't really give me that feeling and seemed to take away from the power and fact that he's essentially blasting away everything on screen.
As for learning to animate and do special effects, get your hands on After Effects!

Good luck with your exams

Hey Aero, exams went fine and I just graduated about a month ago. Just putting the resume together and trying to find a job.
About the face, I'll just copyppasta what I left on the other forum:
"Anyways, from Tzu's description, Saga is both a pirate (career) and a thief (profession), with a muscular body as well as facial scars. So the image I immediately get is a tough woman with a hardened face due to her "work". In the sketch, I noticed that the front profile didn't quite resemble the 3/4 profile - the 3/4 face had wider and more broad features while the other looked a bit more refined/idealized. Because of my view of Saga and the fact that I'd be using a front view of her face, the last thing I wanted to do was use an idealized female portrait.
I don't mind that her features come off as a little masculine, considering the expression she's making - furrowed brow, crinkled nose/eyes, and probably a frown underneath the cloak. I like that those imperfections alter her features and make her face come off as more natural and with more character than just an idealized female face pretending to be angry (problem my initial sketch had).
I like natural expressions like these - minus the makeup on some of them:

http://jenandmen.com/wp-content/uplo...-111793587.jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ngry_woman.jpg
If you block out their hair and focus only on their faces, they look just like really pissed of men. Or just really pissed off mean wearing lipstick and eyeliner. The expression warps their features and pretty much removes the female characteristics from their face. I'm far more interested in natural faces like that, than something like this:
http://www.marieclaire.com/cm/mariec...medium-new.jpg
The expression is warping her features, but you can still tell she's a woman simply because she's wearing ten pounds of makeup. Saga is a pirate and a thief, she shouldn't have a face like a runway model.
And to be honest, I like seeing female characters with tougher looking features. In video game/comic book art, the way females are depicted is pretty boring/silly. They're usually always beautiful and idealized supermodels - you don't normally see awesome female leads who are more modest and natural in their appearance. I guess I just don't want to fall into that niche of only drawing women that look like they perfectly apply their makeup before going into battle.
Not that there's anything wrong with drawing characters like that. But when it's the only thing you ever see, then it's a problem."
