Students are only human too, and make mistakes sometimes. Forgetting something, or being too stressed out to do the best work possible happens to people, and as such should be excused if the person is otherwise diligent about their work.
Also, sounds like they really load up too much schoolwork on you. :/ How do they expect people to be creative and not burn out if they keep adding to the burden?
*hugs Charlie* I shall have a pretty drawing done for you soon to cheer you up! Well.. as soonish as I can manage. :P

Yeah, I can understand also why she'd point out the lack of reference. She's extremely nit-picky and sort of forces you to draw in her preferred manner - which is really damn annoying as anyone can imagine.
I lol'd though when she did start snipping at me since the students around me gave me the "this teacher is crazy" look.
Anyways, another reason I think I'm such a foul mood is because of re-piping being done on my apt. For the past week I've had to stay out of my apt between 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. because of all the lead and asbestos dust flying in my apt after they've ripped open my walls and ceilings. I'm smushed up with my couch right up against the TV since everything else is basically off limits due to the water pipes.
Not to mention there was a massive leak over the weekend where it poured literally three five gallon buckets worth of black, disgusting, smelly water from the new ceiling holes right onto my carpet slightly before midnight. I had to stay up all night to make sure no more water spilled onto my carpet, and to empty the buckets once they got filled. Think I was up for about 36 hours straight that day. The faucet water now in general tastes like metal and has a nauseating metallic smell to it.
So you can imagine how miserable my now cramped and sleep-deprived living situation has been these past few days. If my teacher starts giving me shit on Thursday again, I just might eat her face off.
But that is good news to hear that you've started on the art trade - I'm sure that'll cheer me up whenever you get the chance to work on it.

It sounds to me like your teacher recognises your talent and wants you to get the best possible marks.
I am totally confused by the insistence on references – are artists no longer able to use imagination? When my daughter did an art class she found it impossible to use references and had to run around making them up afterwards.

As someone who did wind up burning herself out because of the huge amount of work at an art school...I don't know. I had one class that was so bad that it basically came down to giving up on that class and failing it but being able to pass my other ones, or trying to keep up with that class and failing all of the others. It also killed my desire to do anything creative for ages.

Sorry to hear about that Charlie. My first thought was that she's insecure with your talent lol.
Things should look up for you soon enough.

Major tsunami alert for the entire west coast. It's about 2:50 a.m. here and I'm backing up my computer, grabbing a few things and about to pop off to my campus. From what I'm hearing, waves are supposed to hit San Francisco at around 8 a.m. So everyone else who lives on the WC and reads this beforehand should play it safe and move inland.
Anyways, things are sort of mellowing out in school and life. Aside from this tsunami warning, of course.

I totally just read that on google o:
Luckily I'm East Coast and inland (our greatest water threat is Lake Ontario... Dx). My parents are on vacation, however they're also on the eastcoast so they shouldnt have any problems either.
Hopefully you don't get hit too bad :x That would kind of... suck real hard D:

Oh dear... I really hope it won't be that bad there. Good thing you have a place inland to go to, and I hope everyone there will be safe.
I have one Japanese friend who is an exchange student here in Finland, and she's been unable to contact her family in Japan. Here's hoping that things won't get worse anymore, and that people are able to reach their families again.

Glad to hear everything turned out all right with the tsunami around your place, and that your friends and family are OK too in Hawaii.
You had a very tough couple of weeks what with the crappy teacher, pipes and such. :/ *hugs*

Everything worked out fine on my side. The waves were severely weakened by the time they made it to the Southern coast, thankfully. Can't say the same for the north where waves reached 8 feet and caused some extensive port damages.
Anyways, here's a good donation site:
https://www.globalgiving.org/
Comes with a drop down "tax" box that allows you to ensure that all of your donation gets through to the folks in Japan, and not be partially service charged. I encourage everyone to donate canned foods or money, give blood or whatever have you. They certainly need it, especially with this new business of one of the nuclear reactors exploding.

Very little free time, hnnnghhhh.
Learning a good deal in my Char. Design class. My teacher is getting us to look and animate characters in more ways than just "cartoonizing" a human figure, which is what I was doing for Dorothy. Helping me out a great deal in terms of adding personality through shape, form and gesture.
Some quick sketches of a few expressions that are due tomorrow. Working on the Scarecrow character.
In commission related news, I'm probably going to be trashing the work of Shala I started. Going to try applying some of the stuff I've been learning in this class to that picture. That is when I get time to work on it.
Gotta' run again. Need to pull another all-nighter.
Bleagh.

I once read that people with a lot talent don't need many compliments.
I hereby will restrain from giving you any more compliments. (which kind of a catch-22 )
