And now for something completely different.

Homework from Char. Design class - retelling of Wizard of Oz. Artist references from at least over 50 years ago were to be used in the final design - art deco, Mucha, Pierre Brissaud, and LS Lowry were my choices.

Completely swamped with homework, so I had to throw out these poses along with three other pages of work as they're all due tomorrow. In a rush, so some things are a bit off.

Used pencil, ink wash, and micron pens on this one.

If anyone wants to come down here and help ol' Charlie out with this other boring-ass homework, they're welcome to do so

I really like her design. It's wonderfully old style, and I love the idea of Toto being a tommy gun.

Wish I could help, but yeah. Same thing as Raven, you'd probably get kicked out for cheating since there's no way I'd be able to match my works with your level.

Good news is that Oz picture won't be the final design of Dorothy. There was some mixup in directions so we'll be able to work on these first characters a bit more.

Bad news is that my illustration class makes me want to strangle someone. Teacher packs way too much work in between projects and makes us continually revise our drafts. Which itself isn't bad, but it wastes time when you're given a week and a half to work and only three days to start the final render.

Illustration homework is sucking up all my work/free time, including my chances to actually work on the Dorothy character.

Meh, I'm just really unhappy with this class of mine. To top it off, my prof called me out today and made me look like a huge RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing prick in front of the whole class today because I forgot to use a reference to paint from. Sure is nice to hear after slaving away for three days straight on her project alone.

And to think, I could be taking another class right now. LE SIGH.

In like a, woah you didnt use a refrence and that art is totally awesome kind of way, or in some "Oh, HEEEEE didn't use a refrence" kind of way?

The second way, along with her mentioning how "pissed off" she was at me and that I was unbelievable (not the good way) for lacking a reference.

I was up until about 2 this morning working on it, and the horns were the last things I worked on before I passed out. I was tired, hungry and irritated and completely forgot to check my reference for horns.

As for this project, it's mostly complete. But I've got a ton of other work in my other classes, so I rarely have any free time. This class is only serving to get on my nerves.

thats sort of how i feel about my anthro class; need the credit to graduate, yet its taking up far too much time and effort for just a credit.

refrences suck. They're good when you genuinely need one, but sometimes you just need to express things from your own mind

You could always say THAT was your refrence

Good luck with the sucky class.... some teachers really overreact to the smallest things. I mean, yes, if you didn't use a reference for something you were supposed to use a reference for I can understand that she'd be a little angry about it, but at least she should talk to you about it normally instead of calling you out in front of everyone in the class.
Students are only human too, and make mistakes sometimes. Forgetting something, or being too stressed out to do the best work possible happens to people, and as such should be excused if the person is otherwise diligent about their work.

Also, sounds like they really load up too much schoolwork on you. :/ How do they expect people to be creative and not burn out if they keep adding to the burden?
