I honestly can not wait to re-do this picture on an a smaller scale and animate it. But really, trying to do draw this in such a massive size with such a short deadline is really starting to chap my ass.

Charlie - hard to believe there was room for improvement, but your skills have taken off since the beginning of this year~!

There is always room for improvement in my mind. I always try to at least walk away with some new information or lesson from every piece I do. The more I look at the Anet art team's work, the more I realize that I've got a lot left to learn and practice.
And indeed, this will be animated! As soon as I finish this freaking monstrous piece that is (and I'm not exaggerating) about 10 feet tall on my screen.

Very handsome. For some reason with that kind of fantasy-ish outfit I was reminded of Balthier from Final Fantasy 12.
You've got a very nice brush technique, and I agree that your realism skills have improved. Can't wait to see this finished and then the animation! Good luck with it, soon the ordeal will be over and you will have a prettyful piece of art!

@Frost: Thanks Frosty
@Perynne: I had to google who that character was, but I can see the similarities. Though with this armor, I'm doing more of an Eastern armor look mixed with fantasy. Kind of hard to tell right now since it's not really zoomed out.

I can dig it.
I was playing with some new brush settings and ended up mixing a new and wonderful brush for blending and textures. It really gives a sort of painterly feel. I got a little carried away and did a super quick helmet sketch for fun, just because. Anyways, I fleshed out a bit more of the armor. But depending on the cost factor, I may have to leave my arms off and texture the sides.

I actually really do need to sit down and designate a day where I just make exclusively brushes. I have a bad habit for creating brushes while in the middle of a project.
Meh.

Well perhabs its not a bad habbit since the brushes will be (I hope) exactly what you are aiming for at that moment. I already got like 100 strange brushes from dA, which I use from time to time, but need to find some great purpose to use them for
Honestly can't wait to see you in that armor finished. I'm really really font of such armor styles.

I'm really playing around with this armor - I don't want it to be identical to samurai armor. Instead it'll be sort of a mish-mash of Chinese/Japanese fantasy armor, though it'll be more apparent once I start adding in the waist and legs. I actually might re-do the shoulder guards when I shrink the canvas. Personally, I'm hoping there will be armor types similar to this in GW2.
