Hmmm if anyone is seriously interested there is a small event held by the Kingdom of Numenor alliance. We're a very small and I mean small group of guilds and Rpers. We meet at Bergens at 6pm Pacific Standard Time. Sadly this even has seem to begin to fade. I seriously more come and join us!
Again though I won't be there because I'm attending a concert. Though if anyone likes to RP mercenaries or any sort of vagabond send me an RP!
Conrilli Darkspear or Catsohori Nioli.

1. Lack of radial speech, everyone can hear everything in all-chat. It is the essential flaw that makes GW very unfriendly to casual roleplay. Trolling is aggravated. Fear ensues. Creativity is stifled.
2. Weaker open-end scenarios within the GW storyline. An example would be the ability to return to Lion's Arch during missions that indicate that you are an enemy to that said city.
2b. Because the storyline isn't very steadfast, most roleplayers are forced to play upon subjects that don't have any shared emotion attached to them. There is very little common ground between GW RPers other than IC complaining about missions and monsters.
3. From what I've seen in certain casual RP sessions, they drift 'way' too far into pseudo-metagame and use far too much lingo to be considered worth pursuing.
Not to say that GW RP is impossible. It simply takes a lot more work than most games. Hooray for Kyaloh!

The speech problem can be fixed by inviting the roleplayer into a group and use team chat.
About the 2d point,well..just dont go there, the ability is there, but you dont have to use it,right?Or if you are there just remain casual and claim to hide or sompthing, the Assasin would surely get away with that, considering its specialty's..
2b:Im not sure what you mean tbh..but then im not from england or the USA..
3:If you mean the Roleplayers are bad im not surprised,Guild Wars is very appealing to teens and kids and im not surprised to see roleplay that fits that age proliferate.

Alot of roleplayers have begun to think that the GWRPA is the realy face of the roleplaying community. They could be, but alot of us Rpers are found in vaious indepdent communities. Take the alliance I'm in, we have our own site, Ventrilo and chat server. We are going to have our own events and so on, we love to Rp outside but we found that Rpers got so trivial over Rp style that we lost sight of the purpose of RP, to just have fun.

Ah, Lord Catsohori! How nice to see you again, milord! How's Rayne and Conrilli, lately? And the baby? Do say hello to Lina for me, and tell the others that I am not but a mindless Mesmer, lest I beat that lesson into them.

Might be easier to establish an exact timing instead of just a general place to RP in. I've been to Shing Jea and Bergens to participate in the free RP zones, but it's always empty. I know two other people who like RPing. We try to meet on Thursdays to do this in-game. It'll be cool if there were more people than just us. What about whoever interested meeting at Bergen Hot Springs int d1 at 3:30pm GMT on Thursday 9th Nov 2006?
Time-line: Post-sear.

Unofficial zones. If you search around you can find a reference to them on the boards. They very often switch or die out. I use to find a nice group at Serenity Temple International District 1 about a year ago around 11PM GMT. They were there almost 5 out of every 10 times I checked for about 6 months and then I never ran into them again. Seems you have to be in an RP guild to get to do it.

Agreed. I think the International districts have been chosen for privacy and to alleviate the griefing that occurs in the larger districts.
Catch 22 situation. You get abused in the populated zones (unless you team which means maxing out at 8). Or you isolate and as you said destroy your chance to find others.

Actually I've had the name Catsohori and the nickname Cats since 2002. Though its not that big of a deal, if anyone does want to Rp. Again just send a message to Catsohori Nicoli In Game. Though I may get a bit side tracked, ask if I want to RP. And I'll tell ya if I can!

Okay...that is not good at all.
I would look in those districs where it not for the fact that i would not meet any person whatsoever apart from roleplayers, but realy the odds of finding roleplayers..well i think that changhe is quite low so i wont realy search there.
Isnt that kind of killing the RP community?

Hmm... either way I'll be checking Bergen Hot Springs int d1 at about 3:30pm GMT on 9th Nov in case someone turns up.
Catsohori, I guess the nickname must be common. I admit haven't used it much with guild wars - tis my nick from days of ol'. Guru was one of the first places I registered at before I decided to pick up the nick "Talia".

Hmmm, I'm guessing that many of the GWRPA based events don't get to you guys here no Guru. Wish there was a guild listing so all of the Rp guilds could pop up their links and so on.

Right again I think. Then again maybe I'm somehow just not finding it out there.
I personally tried frequenting the GWRPA boards but they appeared to be having problems. Two weeks after I signed up on their forum one of the more frequent posters (and the person running the forums I believe) posted this long tirade about planning events and no one ever showing up. She went on about how she was never going to do it again and so forth. So I decided it wasn't the place for me and gave up trying RP (I'm new at it).
The Shing Jea/Bergen Hot Springs meeting places was proposed on that board but in all the times I've tried there is never anyone there. Roleplaying a hermit is fine on an island but only if you have a volleyball.
