It would break all the records, could you imagine 90-120 min of that awesome cinematic on a movie sized plasma screen, would have to have one uber graphics card. Might be time for me to upgrade from my GFORCE FX 5900 Ultra AGP. Enable Hyper Threading !

I dont think so, Guild Wars is a Multiplayer type. Everything in multiplayer changes, there are sheltered kids, horny adults, serious fighters, careless bums, and all whatnot. In order for them to make a GW movie it would have to be unrelated or pointless and random. Many movies have ruined the game they were based off of.
Take Half-Life 2 for example, make that into a movie, it would not be good.

The Spirits Within was definately not succesful. Square lost a lot of money on that one.
I really don't think Guild Wars is movie material. The story's just too basic. Great for a game, bad for the big screen. It'd likely end up resembling like that horrible Dungeons and Dragons movie. *shudder*

It could work.
If youv'e seen the Cinematic trailer, then they could use the story line implimented there, of the girl, trying to defeat the bad dude.

If they used that trailers style, the movie would look like a Matrix/LOTR spoof.

I do not think so. Movies based on games tend to suck. It is like we do not need a fresh idea of our own. Lets just copy the game and the fanboys will have to see it. It also works the Opposite way, in general games based on movie are no good IMO. a perfect example is LucasFilms I mean look at all the crapy Star WArs games out there. Let just keep good games good and good movies seperate. Now I will get off ny soap box and go try to sneak in the Guild Wars server again...... Dam! still closed

the FF movie sucked i can't believe i even watched it, but my friend has on demand movies so at least i didn't spend money on it. A gw movie would most likely suck like other movies based off games.

Tie Fighter, X-Wing, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight 2, Jedi Academy.
These are all some of the best games in their genres.
So you were saying
As for a movie based on Guild Wars, unlikely ;\

Yeah i like Lucas Arts games.
Its all those Disney ones based off of movies that are crappy. You can tell when you go to Wal-Mart and the TV plays a trailer for them, they look like they took 2 seconds to program.

Darn, beat me to this thread.
A movie based on the background of GW, with the main characters that we've seen in the Lore section of the website, that would be cool wouldn't it? Something to sort of solidify the story and bring it around to how GW got where it is as far as the timeperiod and place.
Now here's a question, live action or CGI?
It would pull in ALOT of GW fans and fantasy fans, sure it's based on an MMORPG of sorts, but it has a background story with characters, it would be really cool if you ask me, especially if it was real life people.
I mean can you imagine the actors looking just as cool as the characters like the Necro and such? Whoever drew those did a wicked job btw.
I think a movie wouldn't be such a bad thing if they handled it right.

Just as the game goes? no, it wont do well as a movie.
FF: TSW lost alot of many and nearly killed off the companies that made it.
If GW was used as a backdrop for a movie (the land, lore, characters) with a plot created specifically for a movie, it could work.

I think it would be a good idea. However I do not think it would be wise to release GW movie at theaters. It maybe better if it was released to gamers.Could sell the movie for like 10 bucks maybe.Could have a trailer at the theaters.Could advertise online.Buying the movie could possibly give an in-game item or something else that would be kool.Remember that a CGI movie would take quite some time to make.Could be up to 2 years or more before it would be released to the public.Maybe even the movie itself could give gamers a glimpse into an up and coming expansion pack or something like that.People who play GW would eat up this movie. And would also cut out the middle-man(movie theaters). There are alot of costs involved in making a big screen movie.CGI effects aren't cheap. And the amount of money, sweat, blood, and tears thats goes into a movie? And if it turns into a box-office disaster?Could be quite upsetting for everyone involved.I know everyone would love to see GW on the big screen. So would I.But frankly that would be a great risk and could possibly hurt a reputation.Even though the movie would be great I bet.

That's because they changed the premisis of the movie if they stayed with the games at the theme at least someone would have had something in common with it.... I only saw the movie beacuse the break through graphics put into it... The story was lame and WHAT AN ENDING is the LAMEST YET!..... as for Dungeons & Dragons they actually kept to the structure of the game. Guild Wars would do fine as a movie as long as it's released on DVD only and a good structure storyline. Look at Lady Death, it is the worst dialouge I have ever seen, but it's on DVD. Someone made money and supported their habit. (Deamon busty chicks)
