are you saying mesmer is useless???? I seen people look for mesmers before and I've had no trouble finding groups. Empathy and backfire hurt things, chaos storm is alittle weak unless you stack it on echo or something but that dosen't mean it sucks. Counters can work VS monk type stuff, will never forget fighting a mursaat boss FOREVER because we had no mes,and sometimes you can spam backfire and get good damage.

Just like Monks, there seem to be very few Mesmers, except everyone wants a monk more than a mesmer, so there is less demand (for mesmers)

If you don't realize the value of having a good Mesmer in your party, then you need to play the game more.
A good Mesmer will help you take down enemies twice as fast (especially bosses.) I think you'd be pychotic not to take a Domination Mesmer with you on your trip to Thirsty River.
If you want the most effective party you can possibly have, you want to have a Mesmer along. However, there is really no situation when you'll need more than one.
Note: I made sure to write "good" Mesmer. It's a tough to play well, so there are some pretty slip-shod ones out there.

Yep... Mesmers are priceless. Mine currently does 140 dmg with it's backfire for 10 seconds. And my empathy works for 20 seconds and deals 30 dmg each time that foe attacks. And I can still put yet another attribute point in domination magic if I get hold of a superior rune. Hell yeah, mesmers are urgently needed in a party.

I'm a Mesmer myself. A Domination one who was the keystone in winning Thirsty River. I know how much Mesmers are useful. I was just surprised is all. I'd never seen anyone looking for anything but a Monk or a Meatshield, I was completely surprised someone wanted a Mesmer. (A class people oft take for granted.)

Yeah I play a mesmer aswel, they're heavily underrated.
They can counter anything and are great support, especially versus disrupting casters.. well depending on your build.
Domination mesmers are defenitly the favorite.

The later in the game you go, mesmers become exponentionally more usefull. By the final mission, I would highly recomend a mesmer in your party. Since the enemies are very powerful and you fight them only a few at a time, a good M/N can debuff them so hard and fast that Burning Titans become Charr.

I used a Mesmer once. I actually found the game a lot easier. But I deleted my character and switched back to my favourite profession, that of a Ranger. I bet you were all dying to hear that, weren't you?

yeah, mesmer necros can realyl slap down just about anything they see.
Imagine empathy with price of failure on, say, a sword wielding warrior for a minute.
Drop a spiteful spirit on that and suddenly everything start unravelling for that mighty tank.
I can tell you form experience that you take damage so fast you don't know what hit you.
