It looks like a "turns per day" type game, unless im wrong. I used to play some of them back in the day, but I no longer have the time or commitment for making sure I play everday to not get my butt kicked.

Not so much a turns-per-day type game, you are limited only by your resources. You will run out of time to play before you run out of resources, for certain. UNtil the game gets really going, in like a month, at which point you really have to plan and coordinate with others when you attack. It's a total blast. I used to play all the time when I played SWG; whenever servers were down, a ton of us went over to Zelderex. With GW of course, servers are down WAYYYY less, but this game is very quick, you can play 2 minutes or 30, either way is just as good!
