Back to Bliz
I have played Guild Wars since release and decided to go back to playing WoW. There are a number of reasons for this.
1. Social experience; I dont particularly care for the instanced zones and missions in this game. When one enters leaves a city or town they are cut off from the rest of the game, thus limiting the social interaction with the rest of the community. Lets say that a person is out killing mobs and decides he wants a buddy to team up with. A person would have to go back to a town and reset the instance in order to do that.
2. Trade system (or lack thereof); There is no effective way of trading items in-game. Sure one could go to Ascalon and watch the trade channel spam, but it is ridiculous to try to keep up with it.
3. Map Linearity; I think this is more of a personel preference. I like to go anywhere I want in a zone not just predertermined roads or routes. If I want to walk east to the end of a zone I should have that option. This game really restricts movement and that is something I dont particularly care for. I also wish a person could jump on hills or rocks instead of just having the /jump command. This game has a real Diablo feel to it in this sense.
4. Repetitive PvE; I cant tell you how much I cant stand to look at scorpians and elementals anymore. With fighting the same mobs over and over again this game again feels like Diable or Baulder's gate.
There are other reasons as well that I dont have the time to list. I understand that this is a game that there is no monthly fee for and it is a real positive. I also like the PvP system in the game. However after playing Guild Wars to its conclusion I now understand why I payed fifteen dollars a month to play WoW.
If a person liks Baldur's Gate or Diablo would definatley suggest this game for you. However, if you like EQ or DAoC I think you would find better luck with another game.
I was wondering if I was the only person that feels this way?

The only 'social interaction' outside towns I've ever experianced is Group B stealing Group A's camp spot, or Person C training Mobs D-Z on Group B, so I'm kinda partial to instanced zones outside of towns. Theres no need for it to be any other way.
I dont get #4 and how a 'full' mmorpg is better? I know in EQ not only would you fight the same mob over and over but it was at the exact same place time and time again.
I always rofl when I see people complain about omg no jump! If youre sick of scorpions and elementals you didn't get very far at all....
That's just my two pennies, you are entitled to your opinions, and I am kinda burnt out as well but just to a lack of pve content. PVP is a joke right now with drops, glitches, etc.

Any normal person would just think "as Guild Wars has no monthly fee, I could simply play both", but people always have to pick favourites.

That's the beauty of GW, you can put it down, play something else, and wait for the expansions and not be paying $15 a month to wait. I still love GW, but I have put it down and am currently playing HL2 mods

I think he's right on with the repetitive mobs - there are scorpions (devourers) all the way out in the Chrystal Desert....so sure as you progress you find different creatures (Charr, Grwal, Elementals, Dwarves, Centaurs, Mino's, Wind Riders, Storm Riders, Hydras, Dragons, Spiders, Scarabs, Trolls, Giants, Drakes, Griffons, and many many more.
Not having them spawn in the same spots most everytime..would be nice..I mean everytime you walk out of AC those two devourers pop out exactly in the same place...can get old.
As for linear map - hmmm - mountains & plateaus aren't always passable just because you can "jump", and without climbing gear you have to walk around. You live in a world with impassable limits...why would this be any different in game?
I like the fact that I have MY own experience when I venture out into the world, that I don't have to worry about some a-hole griefing me or my team by agro'ing mobs to us that we'd strategically avoided or while we're engaged with a different mob.....then standing out of range and "LOL'ing"....is wonderful to play a game at my pace, my way, my world and YOU'RE NOT IN IT!! (not you the poster, but the griefers).
