I took your advice...
Just got it today. I'll be checking in with Grind Wars to see if it is fixed fairly often. The last straw came when this miraculous update turned out to be very far from a good solution... If only the costs were reduced by 10x or something. Any, the door didn't hit me on the way out, and good riddance.
Everyone post your "off topic" and "absurd" installation screens of other games. Or perhaps uninstallation of GW? Haven't yet...

Only problem with any Half-Life game is STEAM. STEAM is SPYWARE and I don't care who knows it >.>

GJ man, love that game (and the mods).
HL1 offered me 8 years of entertainment (HL, then the various mods) and I expect no less from HL2 once mods start taking off.
If you ever wanna just screw with the physics download JBmod or Garry's MOD (the latter is preferred, it's more flexible).

Woohoo. Got it working several hours ago. If you have any video card by nvidia, don't update it to the 77.72 driver. It will screw around with your games. They need to fix that. In any case, it's better than I thought it would be, although it's true that it's a "newb's CS", cause headshots come so often, it doesn't deserve a "ns". Spraying is a lot more effective and stuff as well - except with the AK47 which seems almost unchanged from the old CS. The graphics are awesome on the new HL2 engine, and shooting barrels and watching them roll down infront of your enemies still hasn't gotten old .

Ah, wonderful game HL2.
Beautiful, not as good looking as Doom 3, but easier on yer system and more fun when it comes to physics.
Glad you finally decided to get it, I figured you'd already played it. I preordered it and got the silver steam package. It worked great, HL2 downloaded and installed really quickly the instant it came out, got no errors, running it all on highest settings...looks great.
I don't like CS:S, never liked CS at all. It doesn't allow for the amount of fun that DoD does, I enjoy having a blast and going kamikaze if I feel the need to. CS doesn't let you do that for fear that you won't respawn in 10 minutes because the last two guys on both teams are hiding from one another.
DoD is my absolute favorite half-life mod, and I can't wait for DoD:S, it will be awesome, especially since they'll be using the new HDR lighting in the entire game.
Can't wait.
I love Guild Wars, but when DoD:S comes out---say bye bye GW! (At least for a while, I won't uninstall it though.)

I hate that they never mentioned (or at least not where I could find it) that you had to buy at least the HL2 Silver package to play DoD:S.
I think that' sa whole crock of shit. Whatever happend to mods being free, I dunno. Even CS was free after it went retail (AKA when it started going down hill).

It said it on the Steam website what you would get with each package.
And it has been announced that DoD:S will also be a stand-alone game, and that you can purchase it on it's own having not bought the silver steam package.
At least I don't think I was dreaming when I read that. Check the website.

Wait a minute? It still has the Vivendi logo on it? Dayam ... I would figured that somehow through the STEAM interface they woulda wiped that out ... unless of course you didn't hear that Vivendi and Valve have parted ways ...

Got sick of the whole PvP situation - which is why I bought the game. And even more sick of the community (the vast majority of it). Although I can't say much for the CS community... but at least I can shoot them in the head if they're messing with me.
The game is great in general. The new physics are fun to mess around with, and the graphics are awesome. There are also a bunch of little things that, unless you'd played the first counterstrike, you would take for granted. Like being able to upload a custom spraypaint from your hard drive without having to do all that crap to change it into a pldecal.wad and make a copy of it and put it in the right folders, etc. (Mine is my avatar, which is Ignignokt from Aqua Teen Hunger Force). It's different in many ways from the old CS, though. Headshots are frequent, awpers are everywhere (blast them!), and you can't get through a round without being flashed several times. If you like first person shooters, it's worth a try. And as a bonus, you get Half Life 2 with it. (I like multiplayer more )
