I just started a Ranger \ El that went post-searing last night. As I was upgrading my armor I pulled my old stuff down to my back-pack to make room for the new stuff (which by the way I don't like the looks of it at all, it's the non-fur set). I wasn't paying attention to what was going on around me until I got 2 whispers from Warriors asking me "hey babe what's your sign", "hello hello hot stuff", etc. I then noticed a "group" of characters dancing all around me :O I'm a 33 year old male by the way who just happens to have a female character or two.
You know I'm assuming that these folks have active internet connections... isn't real pr0n somewhat easy to come across on the internet these days?

I have two warrior characters
One that uses a hammer
and one that uses a sword
The hammer character seems that a Male warrior should be carrying it, since its big and strong. And lets face it, the female character doesnt have any bulging muscles to carry it and seem like effectively in use
My sword character is for my female warrior. The sword is lightweight, fast and swift. Just like the female warrior, the male warrior just doesn't look to be swift and agile enough. If there was a more 'endurance' look of a warrior like a ranger, then i'd gladly pick it. But i just can't see a big and muscular guy using a sword. Maybe a huge sword yes. But say a barbed spatha - Na.
Btw - what do you do when some idoit guys up to u and says "Hey honey" or "nice butt".
Bloody hell what the heck. I've a good mind to shout out they are RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing stupid.
Oh well.

I refer to a female character in the group as "she"--and sometimes I get in return, "Heh, I'm a guy." I don't care. Your character is female, I will not refer to a female character as "he." That is just dumb. For the purposes of this game, right here, right now, you are a "she."
Then again, I am a woman, I play all female characters. I'm always getting called "man" or "dude" or "guy." Did those terms become gender-neutral while I wasn't looking? ("Guy" in the singular - I know "guys" can refer to a mixed group.)
And, I believe the first time I visited this site, there were several hundreds of posts in a thread about women gamers. We are here, we are definitely here.

Something which i like to hear; i am a male and play all male characters and thought the other day, i think ill make a girl and just as i was about to do it i thought about all this stuff and thought... nah, not worth the hassle.
I want to rp a girl to get a different gameplay experience not because i am a secretly male loving wannabe transvestite hooker but because i want to rp in a rping game....
maaaannn.... (<-- meant in a unisex fashion lol )

plus, some characters just fit the role better as a female.. ranger IMHO (im an old d2 player), elementalist, and mesmer all just seem more female types roles to me.. (but even still i play a male ranger, legolas ) and necro/warrior/monk seem more male characters. but hey, its really all preference..
and you get to say "haha you got beat by a girrrllll"

Some people, when creating these characters, aren't actually creating their own personalities online, they're just creating... characters. This is an RPG at its core, right? For instance, when I create a character I will tend to base them on characters I've written about in short (short, terrible, unfinished...) stories. Some of them may be male, some of them may be female. If I were you, I'd be more worried if you consider your Guild Wars character to be an extension of your own personality as some people obviously do...
Anyway, if it makes you feel any better, I know of several female players who use male characters.

the ppl that think that cross-gendering is dumb are dumb in themselves, they need to know the true definition of role-pley, which is the RP in RPG. i myself have 2 female chars as well as 2 male chars (im a male myself) and sure mebbe i do strip down my ele and dance sometimes but thats only when im bored and have nothing to do but farm

Couldn't agree more. RPG isn't about showing your own personality (sure you can but what's the fun in that?) it's about the characters you make Male or female or even genderless (in other games)

u hit the nail on the head, Mr. Matt and Detis, after all, we're ROLE-PLAYING, which means that we DONT HAVE TO be ourselves, but rather act as someone else, which is where the word role-playing derived from. who cares what gender u r, its an RPG, ur supposed to play as a different personality. i myself have a different personality online than in the real world

lol, yea i've seen those little boys and girls in GW. i remember one time someone in my group said "girls have cooties, yuk..." over and over. anyway, i dont care whether males play as females or vice versa. Just as long they know how to play and dont act childish.
